Arteekay's Second Grow - Autos & Feminized - Mixed Strains

I think mine might be the newer one poles are quite thick and I have only had it maybe 2 weeks tops so far. My local hydro shop here has to order stuff weekly I miss out on seeds most of the time now that people know he sells them haha

Our will likely turn into a drying tent in the future, replaced by another 4x4 or maybe even bigger...

Hello RTK , iv'e been wanting to say hi on your thread for a while but wanted to read it all first .
You seem to have come a long way in such a short space of time , :welldone:
I think your girls are looking great , i love the training and your topping went well :goodjob:
I hope you don't mind if i grab a seat as all this reading has made me tired .
love the scrog , very nice indeed
Oh and a great journal , you put far more into it than i do :nicethread:
Be safe .

Can't say i didn't notice all the likes and thanks over the last couple of days. Thank you for taking the time to read my journal and click that little link. :)

Grab the most comfortable chair you can find, but stop by the pot-pantry first and grab the next round if ya don't mind! I recommended the recently harvested Northern Lights, stuff is sticky fine!

I think I spend twice the time on my journal and this community as I do on my actual grow. Worth every single minute of it!

Very healthy looking girls loving Ur training techerz

Going well so far no doubt, I can't think of anything I wish we'd done differently.... yet.

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to let you know that Haze.IO is having a random drawing for a free pack of seeds. Here is the link if you are interested>>>>>>> Haze.IO Giveaway

Excellent! Thanks for posting this here MzSiroz. My next order with likely be from Haze.IO.

Hey arteekay!

I really am excited to see your dark devil come out. Great grow and beautiful girls for sure!

:bravo:
Bob ;)

She's a bit of the star of the show in my mind, but I'm really happy with how our New Early Miss is turning out as well. We didn't expect big sister Britney to produce so much, so we're gonna be a bit heavy on the Early Miss for a while now.

Yet every time I open the tent, the Dark Devil is the first one I look at.

And now I have to go see her again...

Feb 8 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 40 days old. DD is 29 days old. CR is on 24/0, Temp is 75 and RH is 43% at the canopy, 74 and 46% at the top. Temp for JH, NEM and DD was 88 today with RH at 32% during lights on, and 69 and 43% overnight. They are on an 18/6 schedule.

The humidifier in our veg tent where Jaybiz's Crown Royale lives was there primarily for the drying space at the top, so we took it out for now. Once Brit gets the cut it'll go back in for a week. It's a little on the dry side for my liking, particularly in the flower/auto tent where it doesn't get above 45%. But they are all far enough along that being on the lower end of the range is going to have to be good enough.

Again nobody needed anything but some adjustments to their training.

Back in the tent:

Great update. I'm keeping end eye on your plant size and days above ground to gauge how to run my tent. I'm only working with 4x4 tent and 4x4 closet. But I'll make due.

Cheers

I have a question, how do you water under the scrog? Do you need to have enough room under it to access the pot to pour water, or is a auto feeding system required? I've thought for days how I could implement a scrog, but can't figure out how I'm going to water it. It seems like once it's intertwined in the scrog you can't really move the plant around safely, can you? How beneficial is a scrog compared to good LST and stakes if required? Sorry RTK lots of questions but I'm sure you'll get some help in answering em all.

Cheers, you are a great inspiration. Thanks ahead of time.

I water under this girl with a kitchen funnel stuck in a scrap piece of the PVC pipe I built the scrog with. You can't move the scrog around on the plant, no which is why I built this one attached to the pot so I can still take the whole unit out of the tent together quite easily. It makes it so much easier to lollipop and water when it's sitting on the desk.

I will let the pro's answer your question on the benefits of a scrog vs LST though but I will say the scrog is very easy to work with once you have it in place.

Thats exactly the conclusion i came to. I would need to have some sort of long tube to reach under it. Seems easy enough if you can move that whole unit out of the tent. cheers mr.bizzle

About the same space we have, two 4x4 tents. We'll actually be accurate on our days above ground in this journal, last time we drifted off by an average of about 3 days. Not huge, but man is it going to annoy me forever.

Looks like your doing a great job with the training , when are you going to let them go vertical .

Oddly, you're the first person online, but the third person today to ask me this. I'm really just training to try to obtain a level canopy, but they are getting some vertical growth as well. NEM and DD are about 10 inches above the dirt, JH is too thick and strong to move around much anymore, so she's made about 13. Based on the look of them now, I'll bet they won't get much more horizontal growth going forward.

Measured NEM's length today at 33 inches, her width is barely wider than her pot, which was exactly what I was shooting for. I won't let any of them get any longer than 42 inches, but I'm guessing only NEM will challenge me on that.

I can totally understand why. She is a looker!

Fascinated by this strain, my first grow of colored weed! :)

She's a siren, a seductress, with those growroom eyes and come hither calyxes :)

I think I referred to her as my dark succubus in the early days of this journal. Would have fit in perfectly there.

:high-five:

Getting some tip drop on her. Not 100% sure it isn't from her training, but something I'll be keeping a close eye on. Guessing she'll take lighter nutes than her much bigger and fuller cousins from CKS.

Would you mind ringing in with some advice on nute strengths on your DD?

I think JayBizzle answered all your questions below, but please feel free to keep them coming. One comment I've made about the scrog is it doesn't take a great picture. Jaybiz responded rather quickly with something along the lines of "and when we start smoking pictures, I'll care". Fair enough!

I'm having an utter blast with the training on the other three. What we spent in time on the first grow with the basics (first soaking took me probably four hours, erg!) has now been absorbed in training and manipulation hours.

We're still working on our toolset for sure. Today I finally bought an actual watering can, we've been using kitchen pitchers and whatnot for four months now.

A permanent, tent mounted scrog didn't fit our current style of putting them up on their pedestal and collecting their weights and whatnot.

And by our, I think I really mean my. :)

Looking sexy!

I wanna take them out back and do unspeakable things to them.

Automated systems are in our future I'm sure, but the pipe approach has been working well enough for now. Not getting a lot of trenching or hole digging as the flow is pretty slow and easily moved about.

If any experienced growers have room for another subscription, our friend H0bbyGr0wer89 could use some eyes on this journal.

Grow is going well and she's looking ready to paint the town green, but there's some question about when to plan her finish.

Feb 9 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 41 days old. DD is 30 days old. CR is on 24/0, Temp is 77 and RH is 32% at the canopy, 73 and 37% at the top. Temp for JH, NEM and DD was 91 today with RH at 30% during lights on, and 70 and 41% overnight. They are on an 18/6 schedule.

Nobody needed anything again today other than adjustments.

Jaybiz and I were talking about adding the oil filled radiator into the tent with his Crown Royale, and today he went through with it. Her temps haven't been above 80 yet, and under LEDs we've been shooting for about 85. Since we're still venting that tent into the other tent, the temps and humidity in it were affected as well. I'm guessing we'll add the humidifier back in until they are all fully in flower.

The lower humidity is going to be great for Britney (from our first grow) and her finish in the next 10ish days, but it's too low for my liking on the three autos from this grow.

Maybe we need more equipment... :)

Family pics:

CR (15.4, down from 18.4 yesterday) Her bottom is 13, so she should be good and dry tomorrow):

NEM (12.8 lbs, down from 17.2 yesterday):

DD (9.0 lbs, down from 12.0 yesterday):

JH (11.4 lbs, down from 16.8 yesterday):

Forgot to grab her pics when I originally did the rest, so I had to run down and grab them minutes before she knew she'd be going to bed for the night. Droopy isn't usually there...

Back in the tent:

NEM is too long to sit in the middle until Britney gets out of there, so she'll have to just bounce from one side to the other.

Looking hellagood fellas. But...did I hear the words automated? Say it ain't so! Never put automated into a soil grow. Some will be too dry and others too wet! The plants will lose some of their connection to you. Like a dog on an automated feeder. What do they need an owner for if they get their food from a machine? I like my dogs knowing I bring the food and I like my plants knowing I bring the water!

I know you all are thinking of DWC...but try that Doc's Kit first. Doc's kit almost feels like it is automated. I just spritz in a few things and water. And sometimes mix a half cup of foliar spray. Nothing could be easier.
