Arteekay's Second Grow - Autos & Feminized - Mixed Strains

Quite nice my friend. Buy a Cinex, they are self LST. They do breeding right here in Oregon. What is your option on Poly_Si? It has some K at 0,0,3 but I've heard great things. Kelp too, your thoughts?

Thanks.

Cheers

I think it'll be mid 2016 before I'll be looking to buy any more strains honestly. Between the CKS journal contest and the Haze.IO one, I'm good on beans for a while now.

I think I really need to do a lot more research on nutes in general. I know I want 0-0-0 calmag soon, other than that I'm way up in the air on what we'll do once we get tired of the two part DNF sets.

Your ladies are looking great!! :thumb:

Thanks fopho, glad to have ya watchin'.

congrats on the prize pack! ladies are lookin good too! :thumb:

i know i've dropped a few likes around, but i figure i should sub in so i dont have to go find your link every time :P haha

You're welcome to pull up a seat. Two months ago you'd have to bring your own, now you can feel free to raid the jars in the basement. Virtually of course. :)

:passitleft:

Thanks for the likes MW, appreciate 'em! :)

Oh, yeah! That's great! Congratulations and thanks to our awesome sponsor, haze.io!

Beautiful LST job on your girls, rtk -- as usual your documentation of the process is very useful for all of us. Thank you for sharing it!

No question. Huge thanks to Haze.IO. I'll of course post pics of whatever is sent out. Happy days happy daze.

Well done and well deserved!

I'm proud you think so, thanks Max. Not sure I did anything to deserve this win though, selection process wasn't real clear.

You're welcome guys. I can't take the credit for the separate stringing though. OlderGrower suggested it so I ran with his idea. I did toy with using poly pipe but wood just felt more natural and as a bonus costs far less than all those elbows and joins, plus if I hadn't thought it out right then it was easy to play about with it using wood. With pipe I may have had to keep going out for more elbows and whatnot.

Oh, yeah, I'm also a bit OCD and couldn't see the eye screws lining up perfectly in poly pipe. To make sure they lined up in wood I piloted all the holes first. Probably took an hour from start to finish.

I totally hear ya on the OCD thinger. It's Jay's project and plant, so I'm doing my best to keep my hands and "suggestions" to myself and letting her really be his. If I drop my opinion immediately every time, I don't give him a chance to decide without the bias.

Great job RTK. ladies looking great too.

Always great to have ya watch MTM. Nugs on the table, help yourself.

Hope you get some cool strains from the promo hazeio win, congrats man that's f-ing cool. I'm still watching on your grow from the back window....second hand smoke is bad for the babies.

I'm not entirely clear on what exactly the prize pack is, but I've sent off an email to get the process started. Looks like they've got some serious stuff for a newbie primarily auto grower.

Feel free to pass right over top of 'em. I like to keep them aware of their eventual fate. :)

Hey congrats on winnin the contest at HAZE.IO man! Wish i knew when and where all these cool contests were goin on.. And your girls are lookin stellar also bud! :thumb:

I see you've found the sponsor forums. I've been here three months and won two prizes, which is completely unprecedented in my online community experience.

420mag loves us just about as much as we love it. :)

Jan 31 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 32 days old. DD is 21 days old. Temp is 75 and RH is 60% at the canopy, 75 and 64% at the top.

Since Candi got the chop from our first grow, we were ready to split up the next generation between tents. The Crown Royale gets the Spider x4 to itself in the veg tent, on 24/0 still and with higher humidity. The three autos are moving to the flowering tent, which I guess at this point we may as well name the auto tent, since it has yet to see anything under 18/6.

Jaybiz ran out to grab us some more Mason jars as we of course vastly underestimated how many we'd need. He also grabbed 8 feet of 6 inch diameter semi-rigid aluminum ducting for a new intake in the veg tent, replacing some four inch plastic dryer venting we have been using.

Much better. Light proof and big enough to keep the tent from sucking in under heavy negative pressure. We also went four feet higher so we're dragging in air from right at the ceiling. The air temperature difference between the passive intake on the tent, the 4 inch plastic vent halfway up the wall, and the 6 inch at the ceiling is interesting. Easily 5 degrees difference.

Last family shot in the veg tent, together under the Spider:

JH (11.0 lbs, down from 12.2 yesterday):

CR (13.4 lbs, down from 14.2 yesterday):

NEM (12.2 lbs, down from 13.6 yesterday):

DD (9.6 lbs, down from 10.4 yesterday):

CR alone in her new digs, under the drying carcasses of her sister Tall NL and Candi from our first grow:

CR's light didn't change in height, but she did move to the center so we left the light were it is for now. We'll adjust downward a big over the next couple of days. I think it's at about 18 inches right now, will check tomorrow.

DD, JH, and NEM in their new space alongside their sister Britney from our first grow:

The other three got a brand new light at nearly twice the wattage of it's previous one. We left it high, at about 28 inches and will move it down towards 24 over the next week or less.

Nice, what's the new wattage? After learning to control the heat from my bare bulb I'm going stay with HID for now. LED's work well but still costly. Nice job on the new ducting you will notice better temp control with better air flow.

Cheers.

The Spider is 200w at the wall, the Mars II 900s are I think 395w at the wall. The three autos are under one of the 900s, and are getting a little overspray from the other that's up at the maximum height I can get it for Britney to fit under it.

Now to replace the rest of the venting with something better.

Is that max or veg setting? Did you ever use HID lighting? Anyway, keep up the great work.

Cheers

Ooooh, new lights! That's wonderful, rtk. Can't wait to see the results!

Mine don't have switches, they are the older version of the Mars II. I haven't used HID, went straight from small CFL to LED on our first grow. Not sure I ever will, but ya never know.

Sorry, I apparently misstated that. Not a brand new light for us, just a new light for the girls. They moved between tents and are now under one of my existing Mars II 900s we got in early December i think it was.

They were under the spider, so I thought I'd point out the change in light sources. Sorry for any confusion.

Jan 30 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 31 days old. DD is 20 days old. Temp is 72 and RH is 66% at the canopy, 71 and 71% at the top.

Another quiet day for these girls, all they needed was a little attention and some mild S&M (read LST).

By S&M you mean:
a) Metallica's album
b) Sodomism & Masochism
c) Rihanna's song

I can see you mainline them...is this also LST?just asking so i can understand better the terminology in English...(since English is my second language)
Thank you and sorry for the Joke

Yeah, it was a lame joke on sadism and masochism, didn't actually know it was also a Rihanna song. :)

Not sure you can call any of them a mainline either really, just a topping and some wide LST so far. Trying to make 'em rectangles instead of squares so they fit beside each other three across under the two lights, once Britney (CKS Early Miss from our first grow and journal) gets her fat ass out of there.

Thanks for reading, glad to have ya here!

I've seen tap roots on my Auto's but they both went up then down.

Cheers

Feb 1 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 33 days old. DD is 22 days old. Temp is 73 and RH is 58% at the canopy, 71 and 63% at the top where we're drying two from our first grow.

  • Dark Devil got 2L of bubbled tap water at 156ppm and 5.8 PH

I'm trying to run the DD out to 28 days before she gets her first real soaking and 1/4 to 1/2 strength feeding. We did NEM and JH at 21 days and that was a bit early I think now, based on how long it them took to dry out. We'll see if that's the right decision or not soon.

Both NEM and JH will be bone dry and likely a bit wilted by tomorrow, but I want to give them one solid dry cycle before their next watering.

Jaybiz finished up his DIY PVC portable scrog and attached it to CR's 4.6 gallon air pot. Our understanding is we'll keep her in veg until we fill the scrog and get a bit of vertical growth on the tops above, flip her to flowering and start lollipopping below the scrog.

Family pics of DD, JH, and NEM in the other tent:

CR before coming out of the tent:

DD (8.2 lbs, down from 9.6 yesterday, 12.8 after watering):

NEM (9.0 lbs, down from 12.2 yesterday) She got new tie-downs on the pot rather than the tray and was adjusted back into the shape I'm shooting for:

JH (8.2 lbs, down from 11 yesterday) She got a bit more defoliation (like four or five fans only) and I taped down a fan leaf on two opposing ends to open her up a little bit more. She's just tight and mad bushy:

JH, NEM and DD back in their tent:

CR (12.0 before her scrog was attached, down from 13.4 yesterday, and now 15 lbs with her scrog attached:

Back in her tent:

Full tent, with her fallen sisters above:

Looks good to me, but as it's our first scrog comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

I need to build myself a scrog unit. They seem to be the way to go if you want evenly space Colas. I stop training after flower stretch but they still find a way to clump together. That will be my project for this week. It's settled... Thanks RTK, cheers

nice scrog unit! looks good, just like those commercial units, i'll bet it works just fine.

keep it up!

Woohoooot!

There's nothing quite like waking up on a Sunday morning and finding out I've won something.

I got first place in the Haze.io Special Ch9 Seeds Promo Giveaway.

Thanks to Haze.io for being a sponsor to our favorite website and for running this promo contest!

Congrats on your win RTK!!:bravo: On another note, I see CR is still twerkin' and your grow room looks fabulous!

You the man, great job.

Cheers

Thanks again millertm. Sorry all for the frequency of my posts. Now that I've posted a daily update for as long as I have, I have to continue, no choice. :)

I'm still running my girl(s) bareback with just tie downs on paperclips hooked through the fabric pots. Jaybiz is the scrog builder on his girl. I think it worked out pretty good personally. Took him a few hours total, but he next one will be a 20 minute affair I'd bet.

Look forward to seeing what you come up with Snid.

You went from no training to full on Shiggy BDSM mode then move on past to a first scrog. Looking good man. I love this evolution of growing style! Love the pic with drying buds above the scrog. It's like a changing of the guard.

We've learned so much pretty quickly I think, but that is only because people such as yourself have left clear footprints for us to follow in.

Next grow will very likely be with new media, so in some ways we'll be right back to square one. :)

Biz is very happy with it, other that the choice of string I may have forced a bit on him. It was on hand, but is hairy and we've already got enough of that floating through the air.

This guy doesn't help, but he's just so damned cute...

Congrats on your win RTK!!:bravo: On another note, I see CR is still twerkin' and your grow room looks fabulous!

Thanks Mz, heard from them today. A very friendly person named Flo asked me if I'd rather have my package sent out immediately or after they take delivery of some new swag late next week. She even pretended to be amused by my Alice! reference but said that's likely a more North American thing. I countered that the show went off the air in 85, so it's likely just an old person reference.

CR is doing great, seems to be completely recovered from her slightly rough transplant and doesn't seem to have minded getting a screen unceremoniously slapped overtop.

Feb 2 Update. JH, CR, and NEM are 34 days old. DD is 23 days old. CR is on 24/0, Temp is 73 and RH is 55% at the canopy, 70 and 60% at the top where we're drying two from our first grow. Temp for JH, NEM and DD is 84 with RH at 42% during lights on, and 70 and 52% overnight. They are on an 18/6 schedule.

  • NEM and JH got full strength DNF Gro A+B and calmag+ at 910ppm and 5.8 PH. They then got another liter or so of bubbled tap water at 5.9, because I worried that we shouldn't have gone from half the full so quickly. Ah well, won't be the end of the world.

Tonight's pictures of my Dark Devil were a bit soul crushing for a few hours, I was beating myself up that I'd overwatered her. When I finally got around to my own journal I felt a lot better as I finally took a look at the before pic. I don't think she's overwatered, I think sitting her in a darker place had her thinking it was her nighttime. I took out the three autos so I could wedge my old ass into the tent beside Brit to feed her in place, and they sat for an hour or more away from their lights. She was nearly dry off 1L and only got 2L last night. She's in a 5 gallon fabric pot and still hasn't been soaked to runoff.

We'll know for sure tomorrow, but either way she's gonna get a full day bone dry next time, before her first soaking and quarter strength feeding. I'm going to go a lot lighter on the DD than on the CKS autoflowering strains, just feel she'll be more sensitive.

JH, NEM and DD together in the same tent as Brit from our first grow:

CR (14 lbs, down from 15 yesterday):

DD (11.0 lbs, down from 12.8 yesterday):

Droopy as hell, looks terrible to me. Can't wait to see what she looks like in the morning before work, after she's been up for 4 hours.

JH (6.8 lbs, down from 8.2 yesterday, 20.8 after watering:

NEM (7.2 lbs, down from 9.0 yesterday, 21.2 after watering):

Back in the tent after watering, everyone's droopy of course:

Hanging out with their big Sister Brit:
