Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

It's RTK first grow.... I'm sure a little light issue wont slow him down. Look at this shit. CRAZY! First grow I want a total tally.... 6 plants, 6oz or whatever the results end up being of dry bud. It's going to be crazy for the amount of LED actual power draw so grams/watt and the fact that it's your first grow. Damn impressive!

Heard back from Mars-Hydro. It'll be a month before I get the part, shipped from China. I suggested I ship it back and they send me a new one, was told that's out of the question after two months. I've responded asking about the repair center(s) in Canada they list on their website, can't the part be shipped from there or have me send it there for repair. May still take a month but at least it'd be "certified", at least in theory. :(

I remain happy with their lights and tent, but utterly disappointed with their customer service for Canada. I get the impression the good customer service reviews are from our American friends exclusively.

Temporary setback. You are handling it well. Heck at this point it will probably help signal the plants to finish out. Glad it is probably just a cord /socket issue rather than a led panel blowing issue.

Yeah, not that concerned about the remaining girls. The Tall NL finishes her staged harvest tomorrow or the next day. Jaybiz has presently convinced me to run Candi for another week, but I'm still on the fence. regardless once she's gone too it's just Britney.

But then I got the three autos from our second grow coming over, they'll do fine for a while under a single, but I definitely want to finish them with both.

Thanks again for sticking around, been there for us since the very beginning!

We're at 2.4oz off the first two small kids, striped of stems and dried to 59-62%. Original goal was 6-12oz from the 6 plants, and I'll definitely post what we actually end up with.

Despite the following on their website:

Because we have repair centers located in the USA, UK, Germany, Australia and Canada, there is no difficulty in arranging for repairs to be carried out under the terms of the warranty.

I have confirmation from them that they don't actually have a repair center in Canada. Not sure why the part couldn't be shipped from their American repair center instead of China.

The slower pace due to the failure of the one light remains a bit of a blessing in disguise, along with the fact that we're at half the plants we were a few short weeks ago.

  • Brit got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 860ppm and 5.8 PH.

Candi (83 days, 14.0 lbs down from 17.6 yesterday):

Britney (75 days, 8.6 lbs down from 11.8 yesterday, 14.8 after watering):

Tall NL (83 days, 7.8 lbs down from 8.8 yesterday):
Forgot to take her pics. No real change anyway.

Lovely stuff here!!! Stay strong mate and I had fan issues with my first Mars reflector and it took 2 weeks or so to get new fans but they came from California.... Hope Mars helps more or does something.... Not good customer service looses me..... Grow Pot Cheaply aka LEDRF on here is selling his own lights soon... Maybe check him out mate.

Yeah, I think they have vastly difference sales and support policies for the US and UK than for Canada. I'll be running these lights for the next year at least or unless they die completely. Have to get at least 18 months out of them to balance my imaginary balance sheet.

I'm getting nowhere with them, so I accepted their offer to ship me the parts from china and it'll take a month. In the meantime I replaced the cord with one I have on hand and cleaned up the socket. Works, but I'm running the lights for an extra hour or two tonight to make sure nothing is heating up where it shouldn't.

I can barely bring myself to "like" such high praise, feels conceited! :)

Everything has been going pretty smoothly lately, but I'm still very much a rank newbie. The first sign of trouble and I'll be begging for the help of someone who actually knows what they are doing. :;):

I was just over at your journal and the change from 2 days ago is incredible. Great job man!

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

I'm a bit obsessive with posting my daily journal entry, I don't think I've missed many besides a couple nights over Christmas. I'm not even sure my own co-grower, Jaybiz, is anywhere near up to date. I think he gave up along with most.

"Uggh, this guy and his journal, again! Unsubscribe!"

:)

I was not up to date! Lol damn Trudy has kept me medicated and.. Well.. You know...

Lol nice to meet Jay finally. RTK talks about Jay but the meds must keep him hidden to his tent..... Or maybe locked into his chair. Everything looks exceptionally well here, really don't believe the BS story that you're first time growers. Maybe one day I'll be half as good as you guys.

Hey Krypt, nice to meet you! Yes I stay in the back quite a bit. Obviously I don't say much on here, mostly a silent observer. I just sit in the tent most of the day and babysit the girls ;)
I know lots of ppl have said in disbelief that this is our first grow but it in fact is. This community has been a huge help too... Can't say that enough!

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

A touch of burn to a few tips as well, but hardly even noticeable.

A slight bit of nute burn is actually good. (for several reasons) When you can see just the very, very, very tips of the plant turn yellow that's a good sign your feeding was at the maximum level, without over doing it. It actually is better then under nuting or overly nuting, because it allows the plant grow to it's optimal size throughout the grow. (if done correctly of course). It will also help you know how much, or how little to feed a specific strain. So if you get the same strain from two different breeders, and you have two different pheno's, then you generally have a good idea on how much she needs off the bat. Without having to 'guess' & waist time and money.. Giving you a better grasp on the genetics. Just a little tip for ya Art. I know you're new to this world, so every tip you can get counts ;) We've all been there. You're doing a good job tho :thumb:.

I do not know as much about the genetics of "Auto's" then reg seeds.. ( If I can't breed it in time, I just leave the seeds behind" - is my theory) this is still a good a practice when growing, cause it helps you understand the correct feeding levels while thus giving your plant the optimal level of nutrients without going over or under it's requirements, which in-turn helps us learn! :Namaste:

Sending good vibes to ya man, keep up the good work. Feel free pm me if you ever need any help in your garden.

Thanks I'm trying to be like you. What light height did you use? Did you change it in veg and flower?

Best advice I could give is document your grow obsessively, compulsively, almost like it's a disorder of some kind. :)

I didn't really document the light height well. The Spider was probably never closer than about 12 inches, the Mars panels we added one at a time during early flower at about the middle of the recommended range. By late flower I had/have some tops as close as an inch or two, which is far from ideal of course.

Only two days behind this time though, you're picking up the pace! :)

Drop back a couple dozen pages and it's pretty apparent we were rank noobs in November. I didn't hide anything from this journal, all the warts and stumbles are there for you to see.

The hard part for me is to remember we're doing this for our own personal use only, so as much as I'd love to grow another 6 every 3 months, we just don't have a use for that much. It's a very fun and the most rewarding hobby I've ever had, so I'm willing to go "big" for a hobbyist. But, I have a day job I love that pays for the hookers and blow.

Did I say hookers and blow? I meant bills and food and stuff.

I don't even like blow.

Hey, there is nothing wrong with receiving some praise for your work RTK and Jay Biz. Give credit where credit is due. Keep up the good work!

You've been a huge supporter for so long now, I'm gonna vape me up some Droopy in your honour right after I finish this reply.

:thankyou:

That's pretty much the thought process we went through, whether it's worse to slightly overfeed or underfeed. Since our nutes were so cheap and low end, we decided to just push it until we saw the plants complain. We had two that were ten days behind, so we used the results of the first four to judge how we'd treat the next two.

We'd already had a major problem with our pots sitting directly on a cold concrete basement floor in December in the frozen wastelands of the Canadian Prairies, but thanks to our mutual friend Shiggs we got that solved and since then haven't seen any real sign of deficiencies or toxicities. Knock on wood.

Oh, we've got many more instances of wasted time and money in our future, of that I'm sure. We're running our second grow on the same low end nutes we did in this grow, but Shiggs has been convincing me to give Doc's high brix kit a shot in a future grow.

If it wasn't for this site and my journal, we would have killed them many times over by now, just can't remember for shit anymore, for some reason...

That means alot coming from someone with your experience, and your tips will always be welcome in any thread I start. Like I said early in your first journal, any friend of Shiggs is good people in my book.

There's no "if" bud, we've been riding a run of decent luck and I just don't believe it will last much longer. This week's light failure was just a distraction, bad luck's probe to test our resolve maybe...

All the best to all of you and all of yours.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Busy night, and honestly a little overbaked for a good portion of the late evening. We had a previously mentioned friend over to watch and assist with the final minutes of our last Northern Light's life in her pot, and manicure up Rev who has been drying since Sunday night.

I'd honestly thought she'd been drying longer, we probably could have waited another day or two but we did ok I think. She shrank far more than I expected, eyes were wide when she was full of water! :)

I'll probably hold off on Tall NL's tribute until tomorrow night, just haven't even got to the second grow yet today and I've a morning meeting I shouldn't be late for.

For this grow, now that we have both lights running again we're back to 84 degrees and 48% humidity, which of course means the girls are going through more water again, so both needed taken care of today.

  • Candi got another round of straight water at 159ppm and 5.8 PH. She's flushing through at 6.7 and 450ppm, which I guess is ok if we're planning on running her for another week yet. She's still pretty green and we don't think we see any significant amber, she's foxtailing which I think means she's getting old, no?
  • Britney got another round of full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 860ppm and 5.7 PH.

Family pics:

Candi (84 days, 9.6 lbs before watering, 20.6 after):

Remaining NL (84 days, 7.0 lbs):

Britney (76 days, 8.8 lbs before watering, didn't weigh after but think it'd be around 16):

Tried to stop by last night and steal your plants when you were sleeping but your dog bit me right in the ass.

Looking fantastic gentlemen. You have done so well! Just take a look back and read through the journal from cold floor to broken spider cob! You have overcome obstacles and ended up with fantastic buds! Pat yourselves on the back. Can't wait to see you run a kit!
