Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Quick update today, got lost staring down a tiny 60x little lighted microscope thing for a while, and my lovely daughter came over for supper and our postponed Christmas gift exchange.

Seeing what i believe to be lots of cloudy and a few amber on Trudy. Will have pics in the next couple of days hopefully, but we made the tentative call to stop her nutes until she finishes. Figured we can always give her another quarter strength after we get pics for ya all to see and advise against.

  • Trudy got straight bubbled tap water at 156ppm and 5.8 PH.
  • Rev got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 750ppm and 5.8 PH
  • Candi got the same as Rev.

By the time we finished eating and visiting, I didn't feel like grabbing all the pics I usually do. You're all welcome. :)

Here's what I did grab, first one of lower nug on Trudy:

Droopy:

Brit:

Tall NL:

Rev:

The first of two scales has been purchased, this one for the growing plants. Sadly, this means I'm recording even more data from our grows, I'm a junkie...

We still need to grab a kitchen scale to weigh our harvest(s).

  • Droopy maybe could have been watered today, but we're going to let her go another day as she's just... well, you all know.
  • Britney got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 820ppm and 5.8 PH.

Family pics:

Droopy (62 days, 16.5 inches, 7.4 lbs):

Britney (54 days, 28.5 inches, 5.6 lbs before watering and forgot to grab it after dammit):

Rev (52 days, 20 inches, 9.6 lbs):

Trudy! (62 days, 19.75 inches, 13.8 lbs):

Tallest Northern Lights is 62 days old as well (of course) 23.5 inches tall and 12.2 lbs, but I forgot to grab her pic.

Candi didn't make it out of the tent tonight.

After digging up a few more boxes, we leveled all their tops and brought our lights back to the same height as well, it's just easier.

Back in the tent:

Looking good boss how long u gonna let your NL go you thinking?

The tallest NL that is actually looking decent but untrained, I think it's got maybe another week, we gave her half strength nutes last time, so we'll drop to quarter strength next and reassess then. We'll try to give her at least a week of straight water.

Droopy? Man I just don't know what to do with her honestly. I think we'll just keep her going until something else happens with her.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Jaybiz got his USB microscope in today, so we spent an inordinate amount of time playing with that before we actually got to work. We snapped a few pics, but we're still learning the device and the quality isn't there yet. Hopefully by the weekend we'll have it figured out.

  • Droopy was very dry by today and got half strength DNF Bloom A+B and calmag at 580ppm and 5.7 PH
  • Rev was reasonably dry and couldn't wait another day, got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag at 820ppm and 5.7 PH.

Our runoff has tended towards 6.2-6.5 PH, so I figured I'd widen the range a touch and drop from 5.8 to 5.7.

Family pics:

Trudy! (63 days, 19.75 inches, 11 lbs):

Really not liking how this bud is looking, at least only one is this bad:

Another lower nug with crispy leaves:

Top cola is showing few crispy ones:

Getting some purple leaves now:

Tall NL (63 days, 23.5 inches, 9.8 lbs):

Candi (63 days, 31.5 inches, 11.4 lbs):

Droops (63 days, 16.5 inches, 6.8 lbs before, 11.2 lbs after watering):

Finally actually filled and weighed a spare pot the same as these four are planted in. It's 5.6 lbs. So droopy was too dry for sure, only 1.2 lbs over dead empty.

Also interesting that Droopy fully wet is not as heavy as Candi who will get watered tomorrow or Saturday at the latest.

Rev (53 days, 20 inches, 6.2 lbs before, 13.4 lbs after watering):

Twin tops:

Britney (55 days, didn't come out of the tent today):

Back in the tent:

Droopy's friends and supporters may notice she got put up on a milk crate rather than just stuck on the floor 2 feet away from the light. I'll give her half a chance at least.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

What do you think the rust looking spots might be, calcium deficiency?

That's my guess. Our runoff trends up into the 6.2-6.4 range, and we've been going in at 5.8 which is right at the cutoff for calcium in soil-less grows, that plus the cold feet locking out nutes for 3 or 4 weeks while in veg earlier in our grow on the 2 Candy Canes and 2 Northern Lights, all in 3 gallon round plastic nursery pots with poor drainage...

I'm thinking we're pretty lucky those 4 turned out as well as they did, and I really think Candi is going to be our best producer of all 6, although Britney is trying hard to finish a close second.

Rev we LST'd way too late and stunted her. We knew it going in and were willing to accept it. She responded by creating some cool and unique (to our grow) trifoliar branches and double tops. I'll take that result happily.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Watch, Droops'll be the only one we can actually get a buzz off of.

That'd be terrible, so there's a chance of it happening! :)

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

So I had a very old, close enough to help hide the body friend drop by the office at the end of the day, who had been running a shallow water culture recycling micro cabinet grow for a few years, a few years ago. No experience at all with autos, couldn't convince him that no matter what extra special rooting gel and process employed that you can't keep a mother and take clones from it in a perpetual grow.

Needless to say the discussions, debates, and doobs went on for hours, we agreed to disagree in the end, and Jaybiz and I didn't get down into the basement to actually do any work until just before lights out. My usual picture and data collection routine had to take a sideline in favor of 'getting stuff done'.

The scale is really helping out. I believe we're being a little too sparing with the water for the fully flowering girls and we'll probably not let them get quite so light this late.

Brit, Candi, Tallest NL, and Trudy all needed something:

  • Brit and Candi both got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 870ppm and 5.7 PH.
  • Trudy continued her straight bubbled water PH'd to 5.8
  • Tall NL got reduced from half to quarter strength DNF Bloom A+B and calmag+ at 500ppm and 5.8 PH.

Here's the abbreviated pictures and data collection for the day. Sorry my posts are so frequent and big. For me and my need to have something to look back on, more is more in this case. Still, I know it's gotta be painful to see day after day...

Family pics:

Droops (64 days, didn't weigh or measure her):

Rev (54 days, 8.2 lbs, no height taken):

Her twin tops:

And that's it for pictures tonight. The rest of my collected data is below but really just for biz and I.

Britney at 56 days was 7.4 lbs before watering, didn't weigh after, and now 30 inches tall which is up another inch from yesterday. She is starting to fill out we noticed tonight.

Candi at 64 days was 7.8 lbs before watering, waaaay too light for her size and soil noticeably pulled away from the edges of the pot. She was 11.4 lbs just last night, and 18.6 lbs when she went back in the tent.

Trudy at 64 days was also 7.8 lbs before watering (but much smaller than Candi at the same weight above) and we didn't weigh her after.

And finally the Tallest NL at 64 days was 7.6 lbs before watering and 17.8 lbs after.

Of course, I got teased quite a bit when I mentioned I actually weigh our plants. Ah well, I'm secure in my insanity.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Weighing is a great way to help keep track of how much water they are using. It also gives you a general idea of growth. When I saw the measurements I was like "oh that's cool". You should graph them in excel.

Don't worry about frequent updates. I am using my journal as a grow record for me too. I have already gone back to my journal and read it through. Seeing my plants now and relating it to plants back then is giving me new insight. When did they show certain deficiencies? How long in stretch and how far? How many tops should I leave next time?

Plus for me it's comforting the see RTK and Jbizz's plants each day. I dig it. It's become part of my routine. "Let's see what my peeps are up to today..."
:Namaste:

Thanks Shiggs, glad to have you around keeping an eye on things.. but next time come in for a coffee and a hoot too!

Well Narrator, I really don't have anything good to say about the USB microscope but I do believe that's my fault. The one I bought is 200-800x which is far too magnified. I would really like to try one of the other ones that aren't as strong. I would still not rule out the USB microscope but this one is not useful for this purpose in any way.

Look for a 10x macro and a 19 or 20x macro for your phone. I have been doing that for my trich pics. The problem with 50x or more is that you have to have a way to immobilize the phone or camera or it will always be blurry.

Thanks for the specifics Shiggs!!! I tried to reply to your msg but it tells me I have to hit 50 msgs first. Thought I could reply but guess not.

No worries you just have to channel RTK and get those last 19 posts haha. Yeah it's been a great lens set so far and will work with any phone.

I'm definitely the quieter one in the house which I'm sure I've figured out.. but I may have to do some random mumbling on the journals I'm following and just blame it on trying to prove that you can't OD on pot.. this is an ongoing experiement btw

heading over to your journal now Shiggs.. do you have coffee on?

Quieter one on 420magazine maybe, but not in the house. Admittedly though most of the extra noise is from the four legged sub-housemates.

I can say from recent experience that by the third run through the vaporizer, or the second half of the mushroom bag, half of what falls outta yer mouth is random mumbling!

:)

That's all very true, and now I've eaten the last of the brownies so you'd better cut one of those plants down soon ;)
