Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Sadly, although we had hoped one would come down this weekend, we've decided to continue waiting.

We'd agreed yesterday that we had one that would likely need something earlier in the day than usual, and since it's a weekend we could take advantage of that. So we got the daily pictures, data collection and inspection done and over with early this afternoon.

Honestly fascinated with the weights, and how much they change day to day.

  • Rev went from 8.2 to 6.0 lbs, her bottom end. She was given full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 940ppm and 5.8 PH. She was 13.6 lbs after watering

Family pics:

Trudy! (65 days, 16 lbs, 19.75 inches) she's fading faster now that she's been on straight water for two feedings:

Some serious deficiences showing here. We considered harvesting just this nug before it got too bad, but then thought she'd just start taking from the others:

Top getting seriously purple. We both agreed she's starting to look a little more like droopy all the time:

Tall NL (65 days, 16.4 lbs down from 17.8, 23.5 inches):

Tip lifts are from the tent

Candi (65 days, 17.2 lbs down from 18.6, 32 inches):

We decided to clip the tips of the two tallest, non-actual top colas and see if we can get them to backbuild:

Droopy (65 days, 14.8 lbs, 16.5 inches): Her hairs are starting to turn orange, might turn out to be worth something after all:

Rev (55 days, 6.0 lbs before watering, 13.6 after, 20 inches):

And dammit, I missed pictures of Britney again. At 57 days, she was 12 lbs and a full 30 inches.

Re: Arteekay's First grow - sunshine #4 - Spider x4 - Crop King Autoflowering mix str

[Nov 10-15]

We got the spider hung and the Early Miss feminized Autoflower went into an air-pot (exact size unknown) i'd picked up quickly at the local guy again.

The Revolver feminized Autoflower took an extra day and was put into the same sized air-pot. Buddy had run out of the same pot we'd bought for the original 4 and I figured we'd give them a go.

And here's the rest of the pics I've taken of them up until today, not the greatest shots I know.

And that brings me up to date. I hope I haven't bored or annoyed anyone. Comments and suggestions are welcome and appreciated. How do they look to someone who's seen them at this age before?

Are you seeing anything significant between the regular pots and the maxxi pots ??

We eventually figured out that these airpots are 1.5 gallon. We filled them too full to easily water them, but otherwise I quite like them and they will definitely get a new tenet once these are finished.

The round plastic nursery pots are terrible, probably not as bad as we made them through inexperience (add more perlite, drill some holes in the bottom to augment the four inch wide holes on the sides, and don't soak them to capacity on day one with only a seed in the middle) but they still won't be used again for Cannabis. Maybe Tomatoes in the spring. :)

These look great, beautiful plants , great effing job

Thanks Poundcake, we believe we've done better than average for our first grow and are quite proud of them, 'cept Droops of course. hehehe

Sorry my posts are so frequent and big. For me and my need to have something to look back on, more is more in this case. Still, I know it's gotta be painful to see day after day...

I'm the same way. Plus I hope it helps someone else who is trying to find pictures on what I'm growing. Countless times I searched for Northern Light Auto or Jack Herer day XX to see if I was on track.

Keep it up RTK, we like the pictures:goodjob:

I just drill 20 holes per side on my 3gal but I've been looking at those , might try them

Glad to hear it, thanks G. That northern of yours looks delicious!

We went with root pouch brand fabric pots for our second grow, I can't say if the air pots are truly worth the cost, or honestly if they are expensive. Anything under the cost of a pack of smokes I lose track of.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Thanks Shiggs, glad to have you around keeping an eye on things.. but next time come in for a coffee and a hoot too!

Well Narrator, I really don't have anything good to say about the USB microscope but I do believe that's my fault. The one I bought is 200-800x which is far too magnified. I would really like to try one of the other ones that aren't as strong. I would still not rule out the USB microscope but this one is not useful for this purpose in any way.

Ah thats a shame, but thanks for the info, thats really handy to know for when I get one. Image quality was all good though for non trichome things? I'm going to try one of the really cheap Macro lens' with my phone and see how that goes

Try to make sure you get a 10x macro at least. I found an "8 in 1" kit that had a 10x and a 19x macro lens and was about 20 bucks. The 19x is great for super close in and the 10x has more depth of focus. I like both. It also had wide angle, super wide angle etc.

I think for some of our girls it's going to be academic, we committed to flushing Trudy 6 days ago and she is fading fast. We'll have a mix of trichomes anyway. We'll have to gear in place to finish Rev and Brit with a bit more foresight.

Thanks all for the info though, we were a little lost on what we should be getting in.

Looking gorgeous in that tent Arteekay! I mean really they look really good! I'm glad droopy is get orange hairs!
In the words of Eddie Kendricks from the Tempations "Keep on Truckin" Droopy!

We're just not at all sure how to provide for her. If I'm remembering correctly we're giving her straight water and will finish her off around the same time as her sister Tall NL.

Personally I do not know why you are so tough on Droopy.

Guess every family has to have that redheaded step child!

Oh, she's all mine, I can't blame a second marriage for how we raised her. She's the purple haired trust fund social justice warrior taking over the middle of the public square and demanding a private safe space.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Looks like Trudy will make it through to Tuesday at least, to give her a full week on plain water. After that I'm not sure I can keep Jaybiz from going Paul Bunyan on her. :)

  • Both Rev and Brit got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 844ppm and 5.8 PH.

The 1.5 gallon air pots are going to keep us busy with hand watering, with Rev putting on some significant weight and Britney still getting bigger and not done her flowering stretch. Erg.

Family pics:

Droopy (66 days, 12.6 lbs, 16.75 inches), We feed her half strength bloom last time, probably should have been quarter or plain water:

Rev (56 days, 8.2 lbs before watering, 14.4 lbs after, 20 inches):

Down from the twin tops, at the next internode she put out 4 or 5 buds. It's gonna be a crazy cola:

Britney! (58 days, 6.8 lbs before watering, 13.8 lbs after, 31 inches) She's starting to worry me about how tall she is. She waves quite a bit when we move her around at all, so she's likely gonna need support soon:

Tallest NL (66 days, 13.4 lbs, still 23.5 inches):

Went a bit nuts with the nug porn today:

Trudy! (66 days, 12.2 lbs, 19.75 inches) She can't go much longer, but we're committed to waiting until Monday at least:

Lots more purple leaves, and the rust spot deficiencies are getting worse. But, we've noticed increased frostiness that appears to be undeniable:

Candi (66 days, 12.6 lbs, 32 inches): She could have likely gotten fed today, but figured we'd let her wait another day and see if we can see trichome production increase:

LOOKING amazing man! Im planning to do an auto grow very similar to yours next. What dimensions is your growing tent if you dont mind me asking? And whats your opinions on slightly lollipopping the autos because some people say to not do anything , but i have seen other do it?

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Those are beautiful plants, guys. Trichomes are important and tremendously interesting to watch, but the whole look of the plant is important, too, when judging ripeness. You've got autumnal colouring, shrivelling pistils, swelling calyxes. And even if you take them and it turns out to have been a little early, what the hell, eh? It's still going to be better bud than anything you could have bought :)

And you grew it!

Don't mind in the least. Both tents are 4x4 (within an inch) with the mars tent being about a foot taller than the secret jardin.

We've done some very light lollipopping on all of them, the first three that stayed under 2 feet from the soil we really just removed leaves that were in the way of easily watering them, and made sure they were at least a little spent first. Britney got the most lollipopping, and we probably should have done a little more on Candi. Both are stuffed with branches and buds, but I think we could have had fewer but bigger colas if we'd been a little more heavy with the trimmers earlier. Hard to say with such a small pool of personal experience to draw from.

All the gals are looking plump that are ready to finish. Looks like Britney needs a bit more time. Turns out that if you didn't break her you would be in trouble now!

Currently my thought is, we'll let Trudy use up the remainder of the moisture in her pot, get her good and dry and take her down a day after that. Really need to get my research hat back on and spend a day or two reading more on pre-harvest, curing, etc.

Britney is gonna be the last in the tent I'm thinking. In hindsight I'm glad she was broken, it snapped us out of the "No training!" mindset.

Looking so frosty dood. Gonna be a sweet harvest that's for sure

Thanks Slayer, really looking forward to makin' that first salad! :)

Well, I think there'll be no stopping Jaybiz now, thanks a lot glim!

Kidding. That's been pretty much our exact train of thought. We'll dial in optimal harvest processes in our second and future grows. This one needs to start hitting the finish line.

Thanks so much for all the support and encouragement!
