Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Those are beautiful plants, guys. Trichomes are important and tremendously interesting to watch, but the whole look of the plant is important, too, when judging ripeness. You've got autumnal colouring, shrivelling pistils, swelling calyxes. And even if you take them and it turns out to have been a little early, what the hell, eh? It's still going to be better bud than anything you could have bought :)

And you grew it!

Ohhh yea! See arteekay.. Hehehe

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

LOOKING amazing man! Im planning to do an auto grow very similar to yours next. What dimensions is your growing tent if you dont mind me asking? And whats your opinions on slightly lollipopping the autos because some people say to not do anything , but i have seen other do it?

The one thing he forgot to mention is that we are finding 6 plants in the 4x4 tent were too many.. Could probably squeeze 5 in but I believe 4 is optimal if you want to give them a little room. We will not do a 6 plant grow like that again

You just have 2 of the Mars hydro reflector 96x5? What height have you been keeping them at? I have 2 of them in my 4wide x 2deep tent. I had heat problems for 2 days so I have major stress on 1 of my 2 plants but now hottest is 77degrees so it's fixed. I can't tell if the heat burn hurt my plant so bad or if my lights are too close. Thanks.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Hey Krypt247. It's actually two Mars II 900's in there. Everything is very close to the lights now, within 10 inches. Britney is only two or three inches below the light now, so we'll likely have to raise it a bit tomorrow. They are fully into flowering now though, in veg we kept them no closer than about 12 inches.

We've been trying to keep into the high 70s and low 80s during lights on, and letting it drop to 68 during their 6 hour night, to encourage color changes.

So far little indications of heat or light stress that either of us has noticed.

I've subbed up on your grow journal, but it'll likely be tomorrow before I get through to current. :)

I'm having some extreme issues idk if it was my 3 days of 91degrees or if it my 96x5 lights.... The QuickOne has went into preflower already and everything is really crispy.... My humidity has been low (25%-35% normally), but im going to get humidifier tomorrow to get that problem resolved also. Your plants look so pretty I have backed my lights off to 22" and other at 24".

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Yeah that humidity sounds pretty low to me. We kept our humidity up around 60% during veg and early flower, only now going down into the 35-40% range.

Could be my issue I'll be fixing it in the morning.

Trudy made it through the night, but barely. We'll decide tomorrow if she is coming down or getting one more watering. I wouldn't put money on her seeing Wednesday morning upside right.

Rev went from 14.4 lbs to 9.2 in a day, so rather than let her bottom out she's going to get watered every day until she slows down on intake. Candi went from 12.6 to 8.6, so she's starting to slow down a little, we'll probably drop her to half strength nutes after tonight's feeding. We figure both have 2 or 3 weeks left.

  • Candi and Rev got full strength DNF Bloom and half strength calmag+ at 912ppm and 5.8 PH.

Trudy! (67 days, 9.6 lbs) up for eviction first:

a little shaky, shitty camera and I didn't want the flash, to show how purple they are getting:

Tall NL (67 days, 10.8 lbs) she'll be moving to quarter stength or straight water next time:

Candi (67 days, 8.6 lbs before watering, 20.2 after) she also got about 4 cups of top filling before watering:

Droops (67 days, 11.2 lbs):

Rev (57 days, 9.2 lbs before watering, 14.0 after):

Britney (59 days, 10.8 lbs)

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Trudy lives! She got one more soaking of straight water, if we calculated correctly she should be good and dry on Saturday and we'll end her then. She's so pale now, we wanna see what another four days of no nutes will do for/to her.

More honestly, we hadn't set up and tested our drying space, so we figured we'd need at least a day or two of data on temps and humidity before we throw a loved one into it. We're shooting for 70 overnight and 74 during the day with a humidity of 60-65%. Sound about right?

We're drying in an upstairs closet, in January, on the frozen plains of Middle Canada. Humidifier is probably going to have to be in the same space, a warm mist humidifier that we found reliable in holding a set humidity in the basement during the first half of the grow.

Suggestions, tips, hints, admonishments, whatever are very welcome here.

  • Trudy and the Tall NL got straight tap water (bubbled for days) at 156ppm and 5.8 PH. This is Tall NL's first no nute soaking.Trudy hasn't had nutes since the 5th, 7 days ago.
  • Brit got full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 850ppm and 5.8 PH.
  • Rev got dropped to 75% strength DNF Bloom A+B and about 1/3 strength calmag+ at 670ppm and 5.7 PH. She's been getting full strength for a while now, we felt it was time to cut her back a bit.

We're thinking we'll finish one a weekend for the next two or three, adjust as necessary. It'd be nice to be able to schedule it if we could. Trudy this weekend, then Tall NL, then Candi, with Droops mixed in there somewhere. Rev's next, with Brit in the back. By then the photo from our second grow should be close to being moved.

Anyway. Quick update tonight:

Droopy (68 days, 9.4 lbs down from 11.2):

Rev (58 days, 8.8 lbs down from 14.0 after last night's watering, not weighed after watering tonight):

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Looks amazing I picked up a scale I'm going to start doing this. I think it's more safe way to know when to water a plant. Love this journal!

I'm sold on it. It's really helped us to figure out how much they are using per day and use that to plan things out a bit more than we were able to before.

Trouble is remembering it after watering, when filling a new pot, etc. We have too many for our experience level, can not wait to harvest one or two just to not have to deal with how tight the tent is now.

Nice flowers and good work.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Drying room test was unsuccessful, our humidifier is too old and busted to keep a steady and reliable setting.

Discussed doing them up in a cardboard box in the veg tent, but we'd need to vent it into the flowering tent to deal with the odor. But then we need to get the humidity of the basement up and I'm liking that this tent is at 38-40% for the last week or two. Not sure our little four inch filter and fan is enough anyway, which means we'd need to upgrade to a 6, but that leaves us with a 4 that may as well go into the veg tent. And none of that helps with the drying space.

Erg. Just when we think we've got things sorted, a new stage appears and causes us to rethinking even our base setup.

We'll need to sort out what we're doing, setup and test a new solution by tomorrow night, otherwise we won't have a test run that lasts at least a day before we cut Trudy this weekend.

And we still need jars, and hygrometers for the jars, and we'll probably grab the boveda 62 packs to make sure we don't drop below that....

Ah well, tomorrow's problem. Here's tonight's update.

  • Candi got her first three quarter strength feeding of DNF Bloom A+B and third strength calmag+ at 730ppm and 5.8 PH
  • Rev got the same, but this is her second day down from full strength. She continues to use enough water that we have to water her 1.5 gallon air pot daily.

Family pics:

Tall NL (69 days, 15.8 lbs, first straight water last night):

Trudy! (69 days, 15.2 lbs, watered last night, 8 days on just water now):

Candi (69 days, 12.2 lbs down from 16.2 yesterday, so she gets watered tonight):

Droops (69 days, 8.4 lbs, she's drying out for harvest this weekend as well we decided):

Rev (59 days, 9.4 lbs before watering):

Britney (61 days, 11.6 lbs and we're willing to let her go a bit dry before tomorrow's watering):

Just arriving now, but totally taking a seat for the harvest. Awesome grow.

I'm curious to see what you come up for a drying room/area. I was thinking of a DIY Rubbermaid drying bin in my garage, but also being in the middle of Canada, it'd freeze in the winter (it's -12C out today) and likely be way too high humidity in the summer. Wohoo for crazy seasons!

Yeah, Jaybiz was working on some ideas tonight, but the work from the grow took precedence so we didn't get as far as we'd hoped. I'm guessing we'll end up with a paper bag or a cardboard box in our veg tent.

Whatever we come up with, it'll be temp for this grow and we'll come back for a more permanent solution for the next set.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

For the time being we're going to hook the two tents together via ducting. Fresh air into the veg tent with the muffin fan pulling air through a vent into the flower tent. We know it's not optimal, but don't want to deal with the smell in the entire house for three or four weeks.

I'll likely research a good half of tomorrow away.

As for tonight's update, those damned 1.5 g air pots are a daily chore. Both needed to be watered again today.

  • Brit continues to get full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength calmag+ at 870ppm and 5.8 PH.
  • Rev got her second day of 75% strength DNF Bloom A+B and third strength calmag+ at 740ppm and 5.8 PH.

Family pics:

Trudy! (12.2 lbs, down from 15.2 yesterday) still planning on finishing her this weekend:

Tall NL (12.8 lbs, down from 15.8 yesterday):

Candi (15.4 lbs, watered yesterday but not weighed after) she's not slowing down at all, so we'll keep her at three quarter strength for another feeding at least:

Britney! (7.2 lbs, 33 inches tall) she's getting watered every day now, we'll keep her on full strength for at least four or five days:

Rev (9.0 lbs, not weighing her after) We'll keep her on three quarter for at least another couple of days or until she starts to slow down on water a touch:
