Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Strains

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

For the last two weeks feed once at the beginning normal strength. Then do low ppm feedings until the end with water last three days. The low ppm feedings (about 1/4 strength) help the plant to keep metabolizing and helps prevent deficiencies. It will also help unlock salts from the soil and help the soil flush. With those 1/4 feedings and the final water make sure at least 1.5x solution as the size of the pot goes through. So a 4 liter pot I would water from the top with 6 liters. The 1/4 nute will then help carry unlocked excess salt out of the medium.

@ShiggityFlip

So U should expect close to 500 grams if my plant grows 1m

Not exactly it means that if your total grow space is a meter squared or roughly 3x3 a lil bigger though you could "potentially" yield 500 grams dried under "optimal" conditions :jawdropper:

Feeling you on that front! Been going through the same thing and think I definitely chose the cautious route and started flushing early.
In terms of the trichomes, I think I will wait to see a few ambers on the top of the topmost buds and hope that this means that the rest of it is at its peak, or with a low percentage of couchlock bud at the least.

Love the double head on revolver, maybe they will grow conjoined colas :)

Agree with you on Trudy, she's looking mighty fine, love the range of colours in her photos.

Thanks Narrator, hadn't considered flushing early as the cautious route, but think i'm now reconsidering.

Hoping for something interesting to come out of the double head.

Hi, in my first grow I drove myself crazy trying to time from the minute the seeds got wet through flushing and dark period at the end. Not that I am a pro at all. I am just finishing my 5th grow. Over the 5 grows with various seeds I find that from beginning of germination to rooting in and starting veg cycle, there is a lot of variability as far as progress among seeds/seedlings. So, for me, I find it most helpful to judge by progress. ie., if one seed germinates faster, she goes into a starter cube for rooting faster. If a seedling roots in faster, she goes into veg sooner. Once veg begins, I veg until the the ScrOG screen inferior surface is full, then flip the switch to 12/12 for flowering. The flowering cycle is precisely time monitored, 8 weeks and 1 week flush (in hydro).

In my current grow, both are white widow, but one got 6 days more veg waiting on her sister, 38 days vs. 32 days. They are getting precisely the same flower regimen. This works for me and I am not going crazy with calendars and worrying about one vs the other with respect to time.

Yeah, can't wait to have some more experience under our belts. Every day is still a brand new thing for us.

My local grow store says no ferts past day 36 of flower. Or starting week 6 of flower H2O only. My leaves went fast. I saw all kinds of nutrient deficiencies like all mobile ' went first, yellow spots, then leaves some went P with rust spots, crazy. Saw Mg and Ca. But buds are crazy fat and colorful. By end of week 7 (wensday) leaves are falling off like crazy. I'm cutting on the 30th.

Not exactly sure how we determine exactly when they went into flower, I think we're at about three weeks of flowering on the first four.

My issue is I'm not sure when to call it the last two weeks.

Well, when I say flushing, all I have been doing is watering the normal amount but without nutes, I like the idea of doing one big final flush as the last water like ShiggityFlip said.

Why haven't they invented a strain which has numbers on the stem which count down the days until its ready, would be so much more convenient!

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

If you started 12/12 off, on lighting on January 1st, then 6 weeks later would be Feb 14th. So you would only use water after that date.

Hey miller, thanks and that makes sense but the problem here is they are autos that are still on a 18/6 light schedule. There is no 6 weeks after a 12/12 conversion. Is there a way to tell when the plants are about a week to two weeks away from harvest?

Like a pop-up turkey timer. Love it!

We discussed tonight and decided to wait at least another watering cycle before looking to flush any of the first four. Thinking Trudy and the tall NL will get picked first. Not sure what to do with Droopy, and I think Candi will go the longest.

Finally a Sunday I'm not sad about, still got another day with the girls before heading back to work. Picked up a massive cold over the holidays though, so this is gonna be a quick update tonight.

Britney needed food and water again, these smaller airpots may be great for the roots, but man do they dry out fast. She got full strength DNF Gro A+B and Calmag+ at 890ppm and 5.8 ph.

@Arteekay your girls are still looking good. Cant wait to see what some of the dry weight will be. I bet Droopy will surprise us!

I've some high hopes for a few of them. Really it's just Droopy that i think won't produce decently. If Candi fills in she'll be a monster.

Jaybiz keeps talking about Droopy ending up in the "to be extract" bag in the freezer, but we'll keep going with her and see what happens. Maybe she will surprise, but it definitely won't be in quantity at this point.

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Well, turns out that by about 9pm, Mondays that are holidays feel exactly like a Sunday night. Back to work after 5 days, I'm going to have to be retrained I think. "What is it I do around here again? And you pay me well for that?"

Candi is a very thirsty girl, she can barely make three days. Rev was light as well and was ready (in our somewhat uneducated opinion only, of course) for her switch to bloom nutes. We flushed her with about 6 liters and gave them both full strength DNF Bloom A+B and half strength Calmag+ at 930ppm and 5.8 PH.

Family pics:

Rev (42 days, 18 inches) grew another half inch, has the double top and I just noticed another feature I haven't gotten a picture of yet; The next node down is a triangle with three fan leaves all at the same level, and off each is a nice little nug just forming. That cola is gonna be crazy I think. And to top it off, all her branches are just stupid thick and firm. She's just a little powerlifter:

Brit (45 days, 18.5 inches) put on an inch and a half and is just starting into flowering. I think we'll keep her on grow nutes for at least one more cycle. What a trooper:

Droopy (53 days, 16 inches) didn't do anything really that we can see. More of her top sugar leaves went purple, and it's hard to find any frost on her at all. It's kinda late to give her a name, but I'm considering Blanche, as she has always depended on the kindness of strangers, and of course she's just blanched:

Trudy (53 days, 19 inches) remains the most mature of our girls. Most developed buds, most frosting, and her hairs are about 1/3 brown from the tip down all over. We talked tonight about starting to cut back a bit on her nutes for next feed, maybe 3/4 to start, opinions requested and appreciated:

Talked tonight about getting some hair resistant cloth "lab coats" to wear when working with the girls, we gotta do something to cut down on the hair being transferred, particularly now that the girls are getting all sticky. What do others with pets that shed do?

Onward.

Candi (53 days, 28 inches) grew another half inch. She's just so much different than the others, but I have big hopes for her:

Supercrop has knuckled up quite well. We noticed our cross brace was no longer providing any support as she had lifted off of it. She was all waving around like mad when we'd move her, so we built a tomato cage of sorts out of bamboo stakes to contain a bit and tie up some of her branches. Seems much better supported now, pics tomorrow:

Tallest Northern Lights (53 days, 23 inches) grew another half inch. She's second in line on the development scale, in my opinion only of course:

I'm a little worried her main cola might be foxtailing, seems to be stretching again a bit. Op

Didn't grab my usual "back in the tent" shot.

Ordered us a three pack of Dark Devil autos this afternoon, and picked a Lemon Skunk auto as the the freebie seed that comes with it from True North Seed Bank. I'm gonna fit one of those in as soon as I possibly can. Don't know why I'm so jazzed to grow that one...

Re: Arteekay's 1st Grow - Sunshine #4 - Spider x 4 - Crop King Autoflowering Mix Stra

Dec 29th update, how did it get to be after midnight already??!?

Jaybiz is still vacationing all this week, so at least one of us got to peek in on them throughout the day. After work we picked up more stuff needed to get the veg tent up and running for our next set, which should go to pot (heheh) tomorrow night. Insulated floor tiles are first in, we won't be repeating that mistake. We plan to have everything up off the floor, but plans change and for 30 bucks I wanted the option at least.

For our current girls, Trudy and Droopy both needed some TLC. We're gonna cut back on the nutes a little slowly and see how things go. With that in mind, we gave them both 75% strength DNF Bloom A+B and 1/3 strength Calmag+.

I honestly don't expect this to be at all interesting to anyone but Biz and I, but want it recorded for our own reference later. Long live 420mag!

Family pics:

Tallest NL (54 days, 23 inches) I was worried about her possibly foxtailing, but she hasn't grown an inch on her main top in a few days at least. Guess she's just getting so fat just under the last set that it looked funny to me. I gotta start adding in something to size it against:

Trudy! (54 days, 19.5 inches) Still putting on a little height, but looking great to me. Fed and watered tonight with 3/4 strength bloom and 1/3 strength calmag+, her lowest nugs are starting to fall from the weight, may have to deal with that in the next couple of days:

Candi (54 days, 29.25 inches) STILL growing a bit every day, but getting noticeably fatter with bud as well. Can't imagine she'll either finish near the same time as her sisters, or produce as tight a bud. Still have hopes. Grabbed a couple different sides to show the "cage" we built around her:

Droopy had some of her more degraded leaves removed to allow some more light into the little green that is on her still. I left most of the purple because whatever, kinda hard to continue to care much about her with how well her sisters are doing. Plus it's something different to look at in the tent when I'm doing my starin':

Took a bunch of pics of her tops to see if we could see anything of value happening:

Britney (46 days, 20.5 inches) Grew a full two inches on many of her tops today. I asked her if she wanted Gro nutes again for next feeding, and I swear she hinted I should Hit this Baby One More Time, to make her Stronger! (I may be running low on Brit Spears knowledge at this point, and for that I'm not sad):

Rev (43 days, 18 inches) staying the same height, but definitely active. She's bulked up since yesterday even:

Couple back in the tent pics. It's starting to get awfully crowded in there:

It's not at all noticeable under normal or green lighting, but when we we staring at the before their lights went off, we can see that Trudy is starting to show a little paler green on a few mid-level fan leaves. She's been on Bloom for about 10 days I think now. Nothing to worry about, just approaching the end of her life I'm guessing, right?
