Any2's Vertical 2k Double Donut w/ High Brix - First Indoor Grow

Nice looking nugs bro. Keepin it classy with the donut and a kit. I am excited to see the second round.
Thanks brudda !!!! Harvesting soon and thought I might today but thinkin of going another week. Hardly any amber but I remember Doc saying that high brix will do that. 71 days currently but I just discovered PM on one of the other 5 towards the bottom of a Blueberry. Seemed it was a "dead" zone for circulating air from the the fans up above. Now I have to deal with that nightmare. Kept it around 50-60 RH and 66-77 temps. Never thought I would be faced with it but here I am now 5 weeks into flower.

Maybe all the more reason to pull up the Thai's. I am not geared up for sulpher and I know Doc and I think you did a burn but I have to come up with a plan. Look through some of the Q&A stuff that is already posted. Anyway.....thanks for the shout.

Peace,

Any2

Don't mind at all!!! I am not sure if the wild thai strain is a heavy yielder or not and I am not going to gauge that on this grow since many things went wrong. Doc was helping me play nurse a lot especially in the beginning. Knowing what I know now and looking back on this grow I made some horrific errors right from the start. I think the biggest one was starting 12/12 in the 1 gal pots from a cozy T5 environment and into the 1k fire, transplanting them 6 days later into the 7 gal smarts. I believe the root system just did'nt grab and caused a lot of stress very early on. Also 2 days after putting them in 12/12 they wilted into shock being in small pots. Now then lets add an environment that was highly unstable, too hot at it's peak and some huge temp swings on top of everything else. But all in all learned some very valuable lessons. I was laughing at myself after also being ignorant to the effects of drastically changing photo periods from veg to flower. Which caused some mutant leaf patterns and I laughed even harder when I made clones from the batch that you see now 6 days being in 12/12 start with single and double leaf patterns from the photo period trauma I put their moms in. So yea a few of the new set of thai's still bare the retarded leaves lol but are doing amazingly well now. So I am going to do another round of them hopefully with some justice this time around ha ha. Going to veg them in their 7 gal pots and bet them much bigger this next time to. Get them as big as I can under the T5s then let all twelve of them veg a bit under HPS before going into 12/12. Also....I have been thinking about the GLR method and tossing around that idea. So yea having a lot of fun with it and I plan on growing out this 2nd donut with the 2 Blue Dreams, 2 Blueberry and the Grandberry while cooking soil and vegging the next set of 12. (6) Wild Thai's, (3) GDPs and (3) Grandberry. So with all those F ups looks like I am still gonna have some awesome smoke thanks to Doc and all my fellow brixsters!!!! Peace, Any2

Personally I learn a lot more from my mistakes then my successes. I've been at this June and have made far more mistakes then successes so that means I've learned a lot right? lol

I know exactly what you mean about mutant leafs. I did the exact same thing with my Blue OG. It took forever to revert them back to veg. The fan leaves were covered in trichs and they had pistils popping everywhere. Def the best smelling clones I've had lol. They're finally back on track now. New growth is finally showing new leaves. That's where I differ from doc. I get almost as much joy taking a plant from the brink of death as I do growing a healthy one. No plant left behind! Lmao

I think your in the right track with longer veg times.

Looking forward to how those wild Thais turn out for you. Your literally my only reference for this strain so I'm eagerly awaiting your results. Have you noticed a big difference between the WT and your other strains? I've noticed much faster growth rates, resistance to stress, and super fast cloning. Not sure if this is just the Thai strain or if it's due to this being a pure landrace vs hybrid.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks MrBubbles! I was going to harvest last Saturday but they were still throwing pistals. Doc recommended going longer perhaps 2-3 weeks longer. Last Friday was 70 days since 12/12 and the guy I got them from said it was a 9 weeker and a longer if you wanted to. Calender says they should be ready but not much amber and plenty of clear trichs so I am gonna let em roll a lil while longer. But I think the effects of high brix growing are in play here and extending the timeframes. But then again this round had many set backs and I also did the recharge too late in week 5 and too close to the last cat drench and I think it was a bit much. Many leaves burned and yellowed as a result. Next round will be a better timeframe but if I had to guess I say 10 weeks at least. Many count days from pistal formation to as time in flower and some from the flip to 12/12. Not sure which is best or more accurate.

The only other strains I have is in the 2nd donut and there are no thai's in that group, timing has been to the letter in terms of the timing of the recharge and the two cat drenches and there is a huge difference. Mainly in the early trichomes giving it that frosted look. I did not see that frost explosion with the WT's. I will get some pics of those soon.

And yes....super fast cloning!!! Doc's cloning method makes it easy and the root production is off the hook and now I clone like a pro lol. I will never have crappy clones ever again!!!!!

Peace,

Any2

Merry Christmas Any2 and your family.
Thank You! And a Happy New Year!!!!

Happy Holidays everyone!!!!!!!!

Well here are a few pics from the Thai's as they continue on throwing pistals but are slowing down. Is this foxtailing?

What's your take on the lower leaves? While it's hard to say from a picture, I'd venture a guess you're quite rootbound and you need a good strong Energy/Tea feeding. Try this: with lights on

1. Fill bucket with 5 gallons of RO water, 1/2 ounce Transplant per 5 gallons.
2. Fill another bucket with 5 gallons of RO and 1 ounce of Energy with 3 mils of Tea
3. Dip the pot in the Transplant bucket till the entire rootball is drowned, and every inch of soil has been watered from the bottom up.
4. Let this pot drain, tilting it 360 degrees so it drains well, then set it aside for an hour to drain more.
5. Repeat the process with the Energy bucket.

Transplant within a week, but from now on you've got to deep root soak those plants in order to keep brix up for bloom. Try it! I think you'll like the results.

Wow Doc normally I get an alert on my email and for some reason I have not been recieving them. Been down and out with flu like symptoms and started feeling a bit better New Years Eve hence some pics. Just read your reply. I know they are root bound so the spotting did not surprise me but I hate chasing things down when I knew their root systems were being challenged. Def transplanting on Saturday. But what I did end up doing is soaking them in 5 gal energy/tea followed up by a transplant watering in the evening but not with RO water, just tap that was set out. Had I thought about this a bit I would have switched the sequence but it was an after thought tbo. Since I will be vegging longer under T5s I an going to go with the 2 gal so I can go a little longer next time around or just get em in the 7 gal sooner(just a little easier toting 2 gal plants around lol. I have the metal shelving unit with an assortment of lights for veg) Anyway......

My Thai's keep firing new pistals(foxtailing I beleive)and calyxes are swelling so 84 days since 12/12 but I have to beleive they are ready any day now. Thought's?

Peace,

Any2

You might try to let those thai's go a bit, unless they start to look gamey and weird. It's a normal trait for some very high grade Sativas, and you can often get special smoke by being patient. As long as the plant seems healthy and vibrant, and not like it belongs in a Cannabis Convalescent hospital, let it go a bit!

You did great with the vegging plants. Good job gettin' your skills.

Gorgeous plants! :) Hope mine fill out like yours did. They're looking pretty scraggly right now lol. I was afraid of the long flower time. I was hoping 10 weeks for mine. They're on week 5 now. After seeing yours I'm guessing 12 weeks. Maybe we'll be able to see if the high brix is extending the flower time or if it's just the strain.

Keep up the great work! :Namaste:

Transplanting the 2nd set of Wild Thai's as the harvest for the 1st round is underway, washed and hanging. I noticed a small bit of PM on them so I got em up. They were yellowed and looking ragged so it was time. Figured I would try to give them some justice this next go around after I finish the 2nd donut and will then make some modifications to the room. Temps and RH were in line but I do not think I had enough air pushing the bottom portion of the room. So I will add some additional floor/pedelstal fans to push some air around the bottoms of the plants.

Love the purple! :)

Wow...so the Wild Thai harvest is complete and I wanted to post pics but I can't find my damn camera and have had a stoner moment after taking in a sample lol. After just 2 hits from a joint I was insanely high and could not believe how strong that strain is and how good it tastes! Thanks Doc!!!!!! lol.

2nd donut comes down next week then will have to clean and go through some measures against PM which surfaced on some lower leaves so I need do some steps to eradicate spores and clean up the environment. Room will get a bleach water cleaning and I am thinking about a sulfer burn if I absolutely have to.

I am going to increase air circulation with 2 pedestal osc fans for the floor area on opposite ends. Ok might have to use the phone for upcoming pics soon.

Peace,

Any2

Those are beautiful plants brother. Excellent job.

I'd jump right to the sulfur burner. It kills mites, kills ALL spores on the plants in the top layer of soil, and in the room and it does no harm. You don't remove the plants with a sulfur burn but you do with a bleach wash. While the bleach wash will certainly help, it is NOT 100%. The sulfur burn is 100% effective....put the veg plants in there and deal with them too. A good 4 hour burn on full coupled with 90% RH, no ventilation, no fans, but run the AC. After you vent the sulfur, in a day or so you'll find your room smells really fresh.

Anyways, sorry to go on and on. I just like seeing my 420 friends have kick ass grows and success. Battling mold is like having a nasty flu....it sucks in every way.
