Amy Gardner Of Eden: Perpetually Organic

The early miss is right at the front of the tent and I’m having to run it open quite often, for humidity, so it‘s trichomey goodness is twinkling at me everytime i pass ... and the camera is right there.

I’ve been taking the opportunity to practice with handheld slower shutterspeeds (for depth of field) and have managed a few at 125 without noticeable motion blur :)

This first one would be a ripper without the bits of clothing fibre all over it! :laughtwo: Still - i do love how much it looks like an underwater creature!

And... just because I cant stop looking and taking pics! :yummy:

:passitleft: greetings from the future...

... except to DD, who’s been there already ;):passitleft: :surf:

In the last 24hrs I discovered the week-old news of the death of Subcool (Dave Bowman).

I came to post my respects. Literally the first seed I purchased before i knew anything much was Professor Chaos by TGA/Homgrown Natural Wonders.

:rip: Dave - thank for the dank and the fruity  :yummy:

:Namaste:

Yes and then there’s the pink one that turns late. By all accounts the green pheno is racier/more potent.
@Liquidintel is growing our DDA. He hasn't sent me a pic of it lately, so I'm anxious to see what it looks like now. Last pic I saw, there was just a little pink to it.

Update: Something about Air-Pots® - maybe... :hmmmm:

This Northern Lights Auto has had this odd probem, for a while now, where it just can’t stand up fully. It tries and then droops. Last week I gave it a rescue drench hoping it was a root hookup issue and that would help to sort it out. It almost did and I posted this pic of it looking halfway to perky

That was the morning after a drench and then 6 hours later it looked like this again...

It

There’s no way ot was drying out that fast - it was still heavy woth water when it dropped like this. Wet or dry or half dry... didn’t matter much. After the rescue drench it did the same.

:hmmmm: so there I was looking at it, and looking at the Early Miss and DDA in the same pots with the same soil looking awesome. ...:hmmmm: They’re exactly the same... :hmmmm:

...wait! No they’re not!

When we were building the pots, one of them had the base-plate put in one row lower than it should be. At the time I didn’t want ot empty it and refill and I now distinctly remember saying “oh well, we will find out if it makes any difference”. Maybe I’m finding that out.

Air-Pots® instructions are always careful to say up front that “it’s important to construct the pots correctly according to the instructions” (they never elaborate - just say it’s important).

So when I was looking at it, figuring, and racking my brains as to what other kind of root issue could possibly make a plant do this and still grow kinda ok and it just seemed like It had to be something structural and that’s when I remembered the pot.

That was days ago that I had this (assumed) realisation and I had to wait until yesterday to do anything about it so I had help.

I mixed up some used 2nd run soil with some coco coir and my friend and I transplanted it into a slightly bigger regular pot. If the structure thing turns out to be right then it should finish up ok with a few buds :D

I pruned it right back yesterday too - which I should have done before it stretched but I missed the window. I’m pretty sure it’s advisable not to prune during stretch, so I waited till after.

Here it is this morning about 13hours after transplant and really looks like it’s starting to stand up!

And 90 mins later looking better again, I’m sure...

I have hopes that I was right about the pot thing - pressure/structure etc. and we will be plain sailing for the next few weeks as it finishes.

It also could be a problem caused by the training and the fact that i didn’t support the base stem as well as I should have. Maybe that was/is causing problems as well. We will see now.

For the record (note to self!) I won’t train again like this I unless I’m doing it with a photoperiod over a longer time. It’s too fiddly and labour intensive and pruning yesterday was really hard on my hands. With my hands and arms having the probs they do - this method for autos doesn’t suit me so well. I will in future grow them naturally - which is my preference - or top them at 3 weeks if the timing works. I am actually loooking forward to growing another of these Seedsman NLAs using the topping tech., it seems excellent auto genetics indeed.

I’ll update the rest of the garden in a new post. :Namaste:

Highya Amy G,

I love it when that light comes on. Getting something right to straighten out a grow. I did something similar this spring with seedlings. Anyways, even through the pain, you'll look at NLa and say "I'm glad she's doing much better". Sorry for the pain it caused you. Happy Smokin'

Yay for you Amy!
Thanks Boo!
no pain over this one Bode! Just :hmmmm: a few hundred times until  ...
Happy Smokin'
You to kind sir >) :passitleft: I haven’t been over to yours for ages - I hope your garden grows well. Do you have a journal ATM?

planning to just let them be as well.
I love letting them grow naturally and having little mini canna-trees :D  Funny tho., the only time I’ve enjoyed training an auto was outside. It grew lanky so was easy to manage.

Update: State of the Garden
:smokin2:

We’re coming up to 2 months since kick-off and, perfectly true to plan, Early Miss is 50 days from sprout and nearly done making me some fat little buds!

I think I stunted the stretch by changing lights on it halfway into that process. The main cola just stopped at that point and started getting fatter sideways! It smells very fruity, some pineapple and sweetness along with the ‘just smells like weed’ element. All the nugs are really chunky!

The top is ripening beautifully :yummy:

———

DDA is just beautiful to me right now, even if i do say so myself :battingeyelashes: I’ve never grown one that expressed this well and I adore it when plants take this kind of shape with a large central cola  . There is still only hints of pink amongst the buds. The last drench it had was a 1/4 Transwater yesterday and before that it had a Growth Ionic (with a touch of TP in it) drench and a Brix foliar in between.

I think the next watering is a perfect time to hit it with the Cationic Drenches :slide: 2 in a row, with no water in-between. I’m super keen to see how it goes!

Finally, Sour Bubba had a trip outside for a Leafwash yesterday in preparation for transplant and flip with the new moon on Monday. I didn’t shake the LW solution well enough during spraying I don’t think. The residue seems a bit spotty - never mind :) It was fun having it out under the sun for a minute!

I’ve let it get fairly big while waiting for the new moon to transplant it. This last week it has really taken off and I think it looks superbly ready to explode with 4 huge flower-stacked colas.

It will get a major clean-up prune before transplant and flip.

So here’s the family, snapped about 90 minutes ago - Northern Lights (right) continues to build upon it’s newfound perkiness. Panama is hidden in there somewhere! More on that one next time.

So I’m feeling pretty good about where the plants are at and the things I’m discovering and learning this round. One of those things is how much I’m looking forward to having 2 dedicated spaces. “Plant Tetris” for veg and flower in the same small space is a perpetually changing thing... always tweaking... too much work! I’ll get there. Things are moving for those build projects. It wont be quick but it is happening!

I took a trip out this week for an appointment and took some quick snaps out of the car window of regenerating eucalyptus forests nearby - 4-5 months on from the fires. Little furry bears everywhere. They sprout new growth all over themselves to get as much light as possible. A truly amazing process.

I have 2 spiders living in my bedside lamp. They are very small, 5-8mm long. I keep asking them if they’d like to move to the tent, but as yet O cant get them interested. I am contemplating forced relocations ... Meanwhile - this one is pretty darned good looking, even while eating!

I particularly like it’s visual illusion from above (the Saugaview® of a spider!?). It looks like the famous painting ‘The Scream Of Nature’ but with arms waving above it‘s head.

It’s either escaping a monster or trying to tell me that there’s a dirty spot on my lampshade :laughtwo:

Thanks for your gardening company, good people and followers of Eden :) Keeping a journal is a really valuable thing for developing ones growing skills and I love it. Your company, appreciation and encouragement is mightily appreciated.

Much love to all

Highya Amy G,

No I don't have a journal. I don't have the technology to get a picture on the net, so I frequest several journals to learn as much as possible. Also, I'm old and retired, and enjoying being so. I'm having so much fun just reading about new people discovering KNF principles. I really enjoy your journal because you're so educated, and nice. Thank you for being so. Happy Smokin'

All the plants look stunning, Amy!

Also thanks for the pics of the regenerating forest. So bittersweet. But I guess we should be thankful even so.

I can't believe how not-wintery it looks where you are, compared to us here across the ditch, especially this week!!

bittersweet
It surely is. It is challenging to e hopeful isnn’t it? So much was irreparably destroyed. Whole different species are going to develop - drought resistant ones is the prediction.
Thank you for being so. Happy Smokin'
Thank you for saying so :passitleft: :Namaste:
You so grow beautifully:)
:thanks: everything gets better with time!
plants look stunning, Amy!
Thank you too! :D I’m pretty happy with them. I’m mostly keeping the environment just right - not quite automatic but it’s mostly manageable.
:thumb: Wrong footings! SO far so good. We’ll see how it wakes up tomorrow.
