:thumb: thanks Dutch!

@Bode - hehe we’re doing things in reverse to each other then. Last year I made my own soil using a combo of organic, biodynamic and mineralisation approaches and I used lactobascillus serum the whole time. I used to accelerate the tea I made (from seaweed and from stinging nettle) and I put some in every drench i gave and in teh foliars as well. I got my recipe from @MerryAnna at the time, but she is on 420 sabbatical now it seems... Conrad uses lacto as well, and he’s working with other forms of beneficial bacteria as well. Your soil is probably still benefitting form those HBB ammendments I reckon. I hope the next seasons go well for you. Do you have stinging nettle in your area? It really is far and away one of the best plants for feeding the soil with.

Yes, we have stinging nettle here, in fact, I've had several run-ins with it. I've read that about the nettles being used for teas. Last year I got some Comfrey to compost down. I think I'll use it next year somewhere with the serum, and nettles. Thanks for that. Cheers

Update: State of the Garden - meet the Autos:ganjamon:

Auto Pounder Jan 4, 2019

Some folks might remember that I’ve begun a journey of exploration and experimentation with different ways of growing autos outside here, like growing them together in HBB pots, for example.

It’s easier to keep a soil community going in a larger pot and plants like to share a rhizosphere, or so I’ve heard.

I plan to blend this with learning the technique developed by @InTheShed for LST on Autos to increase yield . I’m also curious to see how they go in our vegetable wicki beds, once they’re in flower.

I started some aaages ago - 2 x DDA and 2 x Auto Pounder - and there was so much gnat damage going on and it slowed things down so much at a bad time for the autos so I ended up putting those aside and starting some new ones. That was just before summer solstice so they’re in about week 5-6 now.

These are both by Auto Seeds, a sponsor here and supporter of the monthly competitions so I tip my hat to them for their generosity. I feel totally blesssed to to have these to share and to play with.

MiG-29

This is by all accounts an auto version of G13 Haze, with the Ruderalis genetics tempering the Haze effects for a more relaxing body effect while retaining much of the Haze high - apparently.
This was a very vigorous starter, these ones sprouted in the glass within 12hrs.

Sucker Punch
Auto Seeds says this about it:
highest quality genetic lineage of a pre98 cut Bubba Kush being crossed with our best selling Candy Kush, this is one of the most potent varieties of autoflowering marijuana available anywhere.

One sprouted quickly ond one disappeared, so I dropped another - which came up super fast. I’ve kind of lost track of which one was the second one  but it was super vigorous and had a smoother run than all the others, so I actually think it may be the bigger of the 2.

Anyhoo - these are for a bit of fun, some extra produce for making topicals or pain/sleep oil - just to try, share, and because I won heaps of auto seeds! :D :slide: They were all started in peat pucks and then placed in pots: a 7gal for Sucker Punch and an 8.5gal for MiG 29.

It’s my first attempt doing this LST tech. I think I maybe started too early - I’ll need to tap in to Shed’s thread for specific advice, so others see it too. Ive been reading it over but haven’t had a chance to post any questions! I’m wondering when I should stop - how do I tell?:hmmmm:

I’ll get better at it I’m sure ;) but they’re still alive and still growing - damn hard to give to light touch brix foliars tho!

So, you may ask, what of the earlier ones I put aside? ANd what’s that frosty tip in the opening photo?

So - the DDA we’re not talking about. It’s the second time I’ve lost one of those. Next time I’ll try it indoor for the win. Moving on.

Auto Pounder

Also by Auto Seeds
Sensi’s original Big Bud and the incredible yielding Power Plant.

Got very gnat stunted and thrip bothered early and rather than kill it I did a rough transplant into one of our raised wicking vegetable garden beds and have given it left-overs of whatever was going since then.

For science, you see, to see what would happen.

It’s shown me enough that next year I’ll plan a bit for this and have one or 2 in these beds I think. It makes them more vulnerable to pests - but I’ll get more and more on top of that.

These last 3 are in the last few days. It’s ready - I’m worried that the very unexpected and heavy rain we had last night hasn’t ‘rained on my harvest parade’. I have help lined up to be doing it tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!

So that brings the journal right up to date with the state of my Eden - phewf! I’m glad i’ve documented these now. I dont keep records quite the way i’d Like, just not enough energy so its all done here, in my journals (and a messy b it colour coded grow diary :battingeyelashes:) and I can usually find anything I’m after with key search terms ;)

Impressions, feedback, questions, suggestions ... all welcome :thanks:

Wishing happy green filled days to everyone, thanks for coming along :Namaste:

Nice job on the training and that Auto Pounder looks happy enough for a science experiment! Feel free to direct any training questions my way as they come up...I think you know where to find me :ciao:.
Thanks - I know. Ive been wanting to post all along the way just couldn’t find the timespacenergytodit :confused::( Has been v frustrating. I’ve had fun winging it and reading your thread over n over in the meantime tho

Funniest thing about the APs is that I hardly did anything  I paid it scarce attention after I stuck it in the wicki bed and then when I noticed it was taking off a bit, I laid it down a bit so one wasn’t blocking sun to the other - so it’s 2 plants ;)

Anyway - it shows that its a super strain for sure. It has a rough life so to still be looking like that is pretty cool.

I have so many questions about it you’ve no idea! How do the other ones look to you? The ones in the pots? Did I start bending too early?:hmmmm: ANd what do I look for to know when to stop training? :Namaste:

Doesn't look too early on either based on the results! I usually stop serious training when they start showing serious pistils. The main point of training is to redistribute the auxins to the lower growth by making the plant think it no longer has an apical stem. For those who don't sub my thread, this cola was off the second node:

As long as the structure is maintained (i.e. the branches remain even across the canopy) then I tend to let it stretch out through flower and only train to keep the stretching branches from getting in each other's way. Much of the final shape will depend on the strain.

Your AutoPounder looks very ruderalis to me, although I'm a HBer so I don't see a lot of outdoor autos ...

It should be interesting to see how it smokes. :bongrip:

I wondered about that. It’s like lots and lots of foxtails :)

I’m looking forward to trying it. Hopefully tomorrow it’ll get chopped so we’ll get an early report soon enough.

Did you think that critical mass looked like it had revegged? :Namaste:

I looks to me like it's preblooming like crazy, rather than revegging. I didn't see the blade count on the leaves change - they all look like 5 blades ...

I think it'll stretch for awhile. :)

think it'll stretch for awhil

That could be fun...

There are some 3bladers on a couple of the nodal shoots - In these they’re most visible.

But also, the pics of a Critical that beez0404 posted on the last page had some very similar looking leaves - and nice fat colas :ganjamon: so maybe it’s genetic too.

dragons (is that like 121 cm?) that look like they could eat you and plants, beautiful plants.

It is about that long, beez, yes. But it’s tail is twice as long as it’s body so it’s not that big really. We have goannas which are much, much bigger  Still, it can be a little bit intimidating. It can’t get in to where the plants are though, so they’re quite safe from dragons.
:Namaste:

me toooo. wish i could but my scatterBrain doesnt co-op.

I see some funky new growth in the Crit. (thanks to the beautiful photo resolution and focus) however most new leaf edges look serrated enough not to worry about a reveg state. Like GT said i see major pre-flowers so maybe a genetic tendency at this stage for the leaf growth, plant maturity.

Amy - I don't think that is reveg. Like Grey said, it's just preflowering like crazy. Some plants just seem to do that. I have a couple clones that always look like that even in veg on 18/6.

Lookin' good girl!!! :goodjob::passitleft::green_heart:
:thanks: For chiming in on that. That’s excellent news. It’s looking great today - greens have deepened a lot in the last 24hrs :)

Good! All flowering systems are go :thumb:.
:high-five:
Hey ...

Mid season harvest report:slide:

Just a quickie! Pulled the Auto Pounder this morning at day 74. It’s pretty ragged as there were hammering rains in the last 3 days, of course - the outdoors loves to serve up unpredicted challenges. :D

It was a drizzly day too so the stems didn’t hang outside for long after the wash...

Solid stem this time :D (tells me there’s good rock minerals in my veggie beds’ soil as well ;) )

It got drizzly...

so I moved it inside to hang in the tent with the dehuey. I’m fairly certain I’ve staved off the budrot threat. Interestingly, there were spots of it on some of the nodal calyxes but not anywhere else ... and conditions were ripe for it, so maybe it’s a bit resistant. I wouldn’t have thought so tho...:hmmmm:

All looks good now! Particularly good quick dried and in my vape stem :ganjamon:

Nothing terpy ‘cause of the quick dry, but a very very nice smooth relaxing body stone, with very little head high. Kind of perfect for the moment. In fact, I read some stuff I’ve been grappling with and I got it quite easily - so this toke must have relaxed something in my brain ... I liked it. I have enough of the quick dried left to have a bedtime toke, then I’ll let it dry and cure before I try again.

:passitleft:

:Namaste:
