Amy Gardner’s High Brix Dreams

Agreed 119.Tbh..i let my grass/property stay natural.Weeds everywhere...all i do is cut them along with grass when it needs it....so its full of dandelions....SO WHAT!
Nice, sounds like your yard need high quality calcium Duggs. I don’t mind the dandelions but for some reason people hate em. They are hyper accumulators of minerals in this case calcium. infact most weeds hyper accumulate certain minerals... it’s natures was of trying to fix imbalances. When the weeds die they leave those minerals close to the surface so other shorter rooted plants can use it.
Nature is just too cool.

I spent years manually pulling dandelions from my yard. Yup, crouched down with a big knife in my hand, jabbing it down to sever the root and pulling it out. One by one - hundreds of them. My motto was "you bloom, you die - make my day". :p

Finally got sick o' that, and now I'm trying to control them with spot spraying.

I’m so lucky. In 5 years here we’ve had to mow the lawn about twice, pull up one or two thistles and use an edge trimmer once or twice. We have a fairly wild lawn, but it is lawn and the females and their young of the local kangaroo mob hang out here and keep the grass down. In some places it looks positively manicured! :D No sprays round here :)
When we bought the house it came with a lawn and a mower... and a full on fence all ‘round the house to ‘keep out the forest’. We pulled down the fence... in came the kangaroos and about a year later we sold the mower :thumb:

If I ever get some acreage, I'd like a large grass lawn with a couple goats. :thumb:

Nice! Doesn’t take much acreage at a to feel like you’ really got some space. We have 5acres - it feels just the right size. Most of it is wild bush, so very little maintenance mostly... except after big winds like we’ve had lately... there’s a few fallen trees to deal with - wood for the fire for a few seasons!

Try finding some good quality calcium carbonate 90% or better... gypsum can help but the 90% is supposed to be great at keeping Dandelions at bay. I havent been able to try it out because I cant find anyone local that can get it for me in large quantities. But from what I have read, thats the way to do it naturally. Or just spot spray... way cheaper for sure!

Some of those new fake turf products are pretty amazing actually. We have an upstairs balcony halfway through construction and we think we might fake turf that. It seems the lightest option and kinda fun :D
Careful on that stuff in summer... it can be deceptively hot! But yes, there are some turf brands that look really great!

OK I found the video. It's a little long but informative.
How Soil Microbes and Intercellular Communication Affects Human Health

Thanks man! I think stuff like this is really important to understand in general - I also think it’s probably more important if you’re wrangling some kind of neuro-immune condition like I am. It’s arguable that the rise of immune conditions is somehow connected to the insinuation of these kinds of bacterial disrupters entering the environment over decades. Not to mention the general depletion of soil and therefore the depletion of nutrition in food that is grown in it. I’m adding a little of the high Brix leftovers to our veggie patch here n there and it’s having wonderful effects.

Sometimes it takes a long time before it is fully clear what the environmental effects of something is ... what can be seen in a laboratory might take many many more years to become noticeable on the ground.

I might dip out and watch that video now. Cheers neiko.

Hmmm ... once I get past being irritated ... I have adverse reactions to someone telling me I’m gong to love something before it’s even happened!

But I have read a lot about the soil microbiome and the human microbiome and their relationship.. (which this seems to be primarily about) it’s one of the things that got me into the high Brix thing. Our gut is like our soil! Feed the gut right and it will feed us just what we need when we need it. :)

No to go see if I can get past being irritated by the host...:hmmmm::)

Thank you Neiko, I always enjoy learning more about what makes good health! Great info. Thanks
