Amy Gardner’s High Brix Dreams

Sorry I can't recommend any RO systems. I don't use my water either but I do reclaim enough from the mini split and dehumidifier that I usually have more than I need to water my garden. In the winter it is too dry to completely keep up so I buy 2.5 gallon jugs of distilled water to get me through. I don't like how much water RO systems waste and I don't want to have my well pump running more than it needs to.

Hey Neiko :yahoo: I respect your stance on RO water. I have a plan to collect the waste water and water my outdoor garden with it. whether they will like it could be debateable. I have ran RO water before and I was driving to the machine down the street and filling 5 gallon bottles for $1.25 each. I wouldnt mind doing that again, but it feels like Im constatnly filling them, especially since that grow was in coco and I watered twice a day.

You know @Archiweedies - I don’t know what your set up is like, but if there’s any way you can harvest rain water that’s about the best. You can get small simple setups going for not much dollar if you have somewhere to put it - and some DIY chops :)

Neiko - I’m fascinated you use water from the dehuey - I’d avoided that because I had some notion that I’d read it was not a good idea. I have a good quality dehuey and it would be great if I could use that water!

Hiya Ag! :thumb:
I live in California and have not seen rain in several months. I would love to collect rainwater but it doesn't seem likely I would have a substantial source of it. Pity, because I am a handy guy. In fact I am a furniture maker and I use methods that were used prior to machinery. Im a old school guy at heart.

When I grew up there was always a drought so they had this crazy ad campaign about “Don’t be a waterhog” and they had a warthog cartoon who wasted tons of water by washing his car everyday, overwatering his lawn and taking super long showers. It also had a silly song that always stuck with me. So recently when researching water filters I was shocked to find out how much RO wastes. They do have “zero-waste” filters but they just pump the waste into your hot water tank, I have an on demand heater so that won’t work, or they recirculate waste water and filter it again and again with extra costly filters.

I just got a mini-split a couple weeks ago (it’s amazing) it never occurred to me to collect water from it, awesome idea.

I found this while looking for the ad haha. Never found the ad

Lol that's the guy! What a jerk he was in my 10 year old mind. Those ads totally worked though; I take quick showers, have low flow everything (of course it's mandatory... but still), and wash the car with a dry micro-fiber cloth and a little spray bottle on the tough things.

Haha thats so funny man! I guess theres worse things one could be than a water-wise person :passitleft:

Oh golly - yes well, no rainwater harvesting for you then!

I love traditional woodworking/carpentry! I was self-teaching myself woodwork for a couple of years prior to becoming unwell and I loved it! I made some good things before I couldn’t use the tools anymore - including racks for all my tools... they’re gathering dust now. I still enjoy watching maker videos on utube though! It’s nice to discover that enjoying those videos doesn’t depend on whether I can do the work or not - I just love watching the work happening... esp when it’s handtools ... planers and spokeshaves etc. I still have these plans for a loungeroom cabinet I really want to make... one day I’ll figure out how to make it happen...

:thanks: @SeedsMan !!! Great sponsor.

My seeds arrived yesterday along with a lovely bonus care package including stickers, magnets, a bag, a grinder and some nice looking long hemp papers! :slide:

Awesome that they sent all that stuff along with your seeds! With that grinder you could end up being the site grinder champion. :yahoo:

Yeah ween! Not crappin’ - it’s the truth. I have a storz and Bickel grinder that’s plastic and a similar design and it works ok... but this new one feels very light and flimsy in direct comparison. It’s a nice colour though :)
The space case grinder the mag sent me is totally superior —-

Update: Blue Dream #1 (day 71)

I’m flipping to 11/13 on tomorrow or the next day, after I sort out the light issues I’ve been putting off till now :). The extraction fan still needs light proofing and till now I’ve just had the passive intake wide open with no light blocking. So tomorrow I’ll sort that out... and change the timer schedule. Having never grown like this before I have no idea what to expect but I do hope it stretches a bit and gets some length ... unless this one just doesn’t want to do that - it continues to stack really really close.

So we’re 8days after transplant. I’ve delayed the Brix spray because of the leaf wash at that time and I also gave a Destress foliar on Friday - cause there’s been a bit of LST going on. I’ll brix on Wednesday. Currently it looks amazing every morning... fully charged and praying really hard but I’m always to groggy to get a photo :)

The moon is still waning for another week so the roots are getting all the help the universe can give them right now :ganjamon:

Early Miss (day 5)
Early Miss came up on Thursday and is rolling along :D

In a couple of weeks it might be warm enough overnight to put it outside - which is its intended final destination. It’s still getting below 10 degC at the moment.

So here’s the family portrait for the week :battingeyelashes: The next update should be post flip!

I’m expecting Big Blue to go nuts!

:Namaste:

Beautiful big blue! Did I ever tell you that my Jeep is named big blue :D

Yours looks delish :p

Here’s my big blue on the Oregon coast close to north Cali :D

Haha! When I was 12 I was the school yo-yo champion!

Of course you were!! :D

Nice looking plant, @Amy Gardner. I am surely not a pro or anything close to it, but I would let that green lady veg just a bit more. I am not sure how much height you have left in that tent, but having all that space that I see in the pics, I would surely let her veg for a week or so more.
Just my two cents worth :)

Well...who is this woman....this very Angry Bird......:passitleft:
