Sorry I can't recommend any RO systems. I don't use my water either but I do reclaim enough from the mini split and dehumidifier that I usually have more than I need to water my garden. In the winter it is too dry to completely keep up so I buy 2.5 gallon jugs of distilled water to get me through. I don't like how much water RO systems waste and I don't want to have my well pump running more than it needs to.
Hey Neiko I respect your stance on RO water. I have a plan to collect the waste water and water my outdoor garden with it. whether they will like it could be debateable. I have ran RO water before and I was driving to the machine down the street and filling 5 gallon bottles for $1.25 each. I wouldnt mind doing that again, but it feels like Im constatnly filling them, especially since that grow was in coco and I watered twice a day.
You know @Archiweedies - I don’t know what your set up is like, but if there’s any way you can harvest rain water that’s about the best. You can get small simple setups going for not much dollar if you have somewhere to put it - and some DIY chops
Neiko - I’m fascinated you use water from the dehuey - I’d avoided that because I had some notion that I’d read it was not a good idea. I have a good quality dehuey and it would be great if I could use that water!
Hiya Ag!
I live in California and have not seen rain in several months. I would love to collect rainwater but it doesn't seem likely I would have a substantial source of it. Pity, because I am a handy guy. In fact I am a furniture maker and I use methods that were used prior to machinery. Im a old school guy at heart.
When I grew up there was always a drought so they had this crazy ad campaign about “Don’t be a waterhog” and they had a warthog cartoon who wasted tons of water by washing his car everyday, overwatering his lawn and taking super long showers. It also had a silly song that always stuck with me. So recently when researching water filters I was shocked to find out how much RO wastes. They do have “zero-waste” filters but they just pump the waste into your hot water tank, I have an on demand heater so that won’t work, or they recirculate waste water and filter it again and again with extra costly filters.
I just got a mini-split a couple weeks ago (it’s amazing) it never occurred to me to collect water from it, awesome idea.
I found this while looking for the ad haha. Never found the ad
