Ace Panama, Groot, In High Brix

How do you start your seeds ? straight into 1st run or do you use a layer of straight Pro-mix or something else
to get them going ? I ask simply because I am wondering if reason for the hard start is they are having trouble
adjusting to the soil at the start and maybe giving them a chance to root a little before hitting the good soil may
be helpful

Again Just at level 2 myself so could be way off base just thinking out loud ?

For seed start..after germination(seed split) put in one gal. pot with top couple /few inches straight ProMix . Rest of soil under can be any run of our soil, but make the top layer straight PM OK. Works EVERY time...cheers.

Well Duggs, main prob with that is I dont have any plain PM around... and cant get it here. I have to order it and dont have the room for another bale of soil... or even a small bag... I am already loaded down with two kits worth. I start straight in soil also... mother natures way. I dont think I have ever done it any other way. Seems interesting though!

Yup...that's ok too bud! Just don't try and germ seeds in our recycled soil...especially third run...it's a lil too 'hot' and seeds have been eaten up , some members have said.....me included, so... A warning OK. First run would be safe...maybe even second but my issues were with third run, so...
Gotcha, thank ya Duggs. This is first run... kinda weird hows she's growin, oh well I am sure she will straighten out soon!:passitleft:

This could be Gazoo... though I don’t usually have this issue. I did just use pre cooked HB soil... no plug or anything. I’m hoping she straightens out... can’t teally afford any set backs. Hell this Panama 2.0 will probably only yield 3oz or less. So no room for screwed up plants or screw ups of my own!!

Personally I don’t think they should have a hard time starting out. Seems to me you should be able to just plant the damn seed in the soil and be done with it. That’s the way I’ve always don’t it... never had problems. I’ve only had 2-3 seeds eaten by the HB soil... not too bad.
Thanks Gazoo!

I would not expect issues in 1st run either just thinking maybe hitting the soil so fast SOME seedlings may have
a hard time adjusting at the start ? Maybe somewhere in between the Soil eats it, and the soil trys but the girl pulls through ?

That seems possible, could be the reason why the leaves are messed up. I would say that if your hypothesis is correct, either the next new set or the set after that will be just fine. If it wasn't the soil... it may be like Weens crinklepuss... just a strange plant.
Good thinking Gazoo!

I have also had leafs that look like that but seem to grow out fine, kinda like they started out with to much skin and
just need to fill in

Hey dajerm,

I lose seeds too, just don’t germ. It is a bummer cus like you said, they ain’t cheap! But what can ya do. If you want to be sure if it’s the seed or the soil, sometimes I start them between two moist paper towels. Lately I’ve been lazy and just start in soil.

If ya start a journal up again Bud let us all know. I learned a lot from Groot.
Take care

Yea, in another thread (not sure which one) they were talking about the Bodiva packs and someone said they though it absorbed some of the smell and flavor...
I switched from the boveda packs to Integra boost, I'm satisfied with the new packs. Do I have any factual evidence they are better, no. Will this drive @Gazoo crazy, yes.

Yea, I too have no evidence. But I left them out of two jars and put a couple in one. So maybe I’ll get something definitive from this.
And yes... that will drive Gazoo crazy!

Gazoo...you gettin this....:ganjamon:
Yes I am, Trying not to Look :eek:

Morning Jerm, hope all is well.. IMHO the wrap is mostly for containment, however it also regulates the process.. As far as need, once you get them into vacuum seal, I really dont know that it does much for or against the cure... I just saw early on, and all the pics I saved indicate that you should use them... I am personally gonna use them, but I am gonna cure probably more than 30 cobs... I think that it may add to the longevity of the bud/cob in storage... I have seen some people have them for a few years... I am not familiar with cobbing so I am learning as well... Saving these leaves were just my plan to be a cheap ass.... LOL

Awesome, thanks MH. I will cob some of the Panama clone I have going now... and use the corn husks this time round. I have a Panama cob currently curing from my last harvest so this will be a great way To compare!

Hey gang, so this Destroyer is still being weird and since I want minimal delay I need to decide if I wanna cull her and plant another seed... am I going crazy or does that look like a pistil growing from the side of a leaf? It’s even fuzzy up close like a pistol...

Hey Daj! That does kinda look like a pistil, strange indeed? Remember Groot was looking funky and we said to let her go, well I'm not sure about this one, how old is she? My crinkle puss looked very funky and she is looking great now. Maybe drop a seed and let this one go to see if she comes back then pick one if you can't keep em both.
