Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Thanks. It's a nice haul, no doubt. And as nice as all that purple is, I'm most interested in trying the Cheese. Maybe by Sunday some off it will be ready to test.

Hi Aberration -

Love the purps and the Cheese. I have an Exodus Cheese seed or two that are pretty high on my "things to grow in the future" list. I've heard good Cheese plants are pretty special. How cool that the Grape Koolaid smells like... Grape Koolaid!

Beautiful work as always, Aberration. Love the picture of everything hanging in the closet. Thanks for the continued inspiration!

Hey Xlr8. Thank you, but the plants do all the real work. I'm just the maintenance guy.

The Grape Kool-Aid is really pretty good. Nice work stone. Grape smells here and there. Everyone likes it. I took some to a work party yesterday where we helped someone tear down a big grow. No panic - they moved to a nice legal warehouse grow and the garage gets to just be a garage again. Anyway, everyone enjoyed the GKA quite a bit. We had a good time. We even dismantled some stuff.

:tokin:

I'm trying the Cheese right now. It's just off the stems, so it's not really ready, just smokable. The flavor has time to develop still. Unfortunately, I'm not smelling anything special.

I'm not sure if it is me, my grow space, or the strain. My nose is so used to pot smells I don't smell it very good most of the time I think. I don't smell what others do anyway. So it has to be in-your-face, like the orange of the Tangerine Dream, for me to really notice it. Also, my space is carbon filtered full time (Can66 with a 6" inline). There is more than one Cheese, so mine might be nothing special. We'll know more as it has time to cure and others get a taste.

As for high, it seems pretty nice. I can't really characterize the high yet. I'll come back to that too.

I still don't have 4 bloom slots filled. No time. Gotta transplant first. I'm getting there. Snipping all those buds off the stem from last weekend's harvest took several hours. The preliminary results are in. This is weight before homogenization (airtight bowls to equalize moisture content right before jarring, burp daily), so they will lose a gram or two each, as they are dry in the aggregate, so total moisture won't really change much, though distribution will. Therefore this is a good enough time to weigh for my taste.

GKA: 136g (4.8 oz, Grape Kool-Aid)
BBX: 158g (5.4 oz, BigBud x BlueMagoo)
-L-: 181g (6.4 oz, 'lavender' indica)
CH-: 178g (6.3 oz, Green House Cheese)

Not too bad. It's interesting to note that the largest plant (GKA) produced the least, and the one that usually lags behind everyone and only pulls about 4 oz (L) pulled the most at 6.4 oz. L is also the densest, with rock hard buds. What there is of GKA is fairly hard nugs too. CH and BBX are not as tight, but fine.

Just stopping by to say Hi. You know those are some really good weights for the first time growing a strain. :thumb: and to have your L give almost 50% more is just great.

Keep it up and cant' wait for an update. So what are you going to fill the 4 slots with??? Inquiring minds want to know - lol

:peace:

Thanks, MSquared. I really have no reason to complain. :)

As for what goes in next? It looks like two more BigBud x Blue Magoo (BBX), a Tangerine Dream (TDR), and probably a Super Lemon Haze (SLH). The SLH pairs up with the TDR, schedule-wise. I could also do another Grape Kool-Aid or really one of several other strains, but the SLH is ready and her timing would be convenient.

At this point I'm desperate to find time to clone, trim, spray for bugs and transplant them. This weekend, including Friday, is blown due to a prior commitment. I won't get any done tonight. Tomorrow night I'll get the cloning done. Someone is coming over to demo their cloning procedures for me. With my abysmal record lately and their excellent one, I hope to turn things around here in Ker Bloom Gardens (tm). That just leaves Thursday and there is no way it'll get done then, so they aren't going in until sometime next week now. Gah!

I will be patient. There is no advantage in being stressed out.

Is it the white balancing you've done, my eyes or do the bud actully look black Aberration?

The color balance is my Nikon D90 on full auto/no flash, under a shop light with two 4' Philips F32T8/DX 32W bulbs. It's actually pretty accurate. The vegetation started to go red, then magenta, then a purplish. You can see some of the magenta still. The black is really a mixture of purple and red and green when you look close enough. If that was dried I'd be going for NOTM, but that was freshly trimmed. Sometimes I take good pics, but I'm no photographer. I'm too lazy to take advantage of all but the simplest camera settings mostly, in large part because I'm never going to learn it properly while by myself and high. ;) It's fun and it records things well.

paitence is a virtue - lol. I am sure you will find time for it all at some point. I have a request, maybe you could document the cloning tutorial for us?? Just a thought, but it would be very nice addition to this already incredible journal!

Thanks and :peace:

could i ask if their is anyone stocking the grape kool-ade seeds or is the a cross you managed to get only from clone, im trying to grow a purple plant and chose the berrybomb due to its vivid color, just wanted to grow a purple one really, any special conditions to bring out the purps and is their anywhere i can get them seeds for the purps you got, does anyone carry them, or am i out of look, you got amazing results, i never managed to read whole journal would take me weeks i think, but started at the start then skipped a load to see the results and their amazing, brilliant pics, top buds, nice mixture, would love some of them strains,

Thanks, and I can't argue with you there. I hope it turns out as well when I grow it properly.

Sure thing. Although it may not happen tonight. It snowed last night and we got about 6". I know that's nothing to many people, but we don't have snowplows here. It sometimes will snow once for the year, in early January, maybe an inch, and it's gone before sunset. We are not generally prepared for this. 6" in March is just crazy for us. It shut the whole area down. Trees fell on power lines and we were powerless all day. Hardly anyone made it to work, and I went 2 hours late. Kinda pathetic, I know, but what can I say? So the friend may not be coming over tonight due to all that.

However, once I see it work the first time I'll definitely do a photo walk-thru and share the knowledge. I'm all about that. :)

I agree^^
I've had decent success with cloning, so far, but would love to learn a better, and more efficient way. Hope all is well in your world!:Namaste:

I hope all is well for you as well. As you can read above, my day has been exciting, but we have heat now, so we're good to go. Luckily, the power was out when bloom was in it's night, so other than a cool "night" they have no idea anything happened. :Namaste:

just started reading and got to page 7, amazing pics and amazing results,

Thanks, donpaul. :welcome: Feel free to speak up. Either you'll learn from me, or I will learn from you, or it'll just be good conversation.

By the way, don't read all the feed reports - you'll go nuts. ;)

The Grape Kool-Aid (GKA) is probably available, but I can't tell you what it is. I'll explain...

And for those who have read what I have said in the past about GKA, this is new news regarding it's origins. I found out what will probably be as full a story on the GKA as I'll ever get.

In a nutshell, GKA is a complete unknown. Sad but true. :(

I have a friend. We'll call him John. John is hanging out with a friend of his. We'll call John's friend Paul. So my friend John was at Paul's house, and they smoked some fantastic weed. It was the GKA. My friend John was so very impressed by the smell and flavor and high that he talked Paul into giving him a clone.

The problem is, Paul doesn't know what strain it is. He had a lot of clones and started a lot of seeds, and somewhere along the way, this strain's name and history was lost. It could be an elite clone-only, or it could be an easily purchased commercial seed. Paul has no idea. Paul just grows it because it's good.

So my friend John can't leave it with no name. Having smelled the whiffs and hints of grape Kool-Aid powder, John christens it Grape Kool-Aid. He grows it and clones it and gives a clone to me. "It's Grape Kool-Aid" he says, "Grow it. It's fantastic."

Now I'm already heavy with too many strains, as you likely know. When he gave it to me, I was trying to reduce the number of strains I had (I'm still trying to do that now, actually). But he was insistent about it so I gave in. I tried to learn more about it by Googling "Grape Kool-Aid" and completely struck out. Nothing, even with more terms. After I had bloomed, harvested and dried it, John finally told me the history I just relayed to you.

So the answer is: Paul was the source and has no idea what it is, and John named it based on some nugs he smoked that Paul grew. Once again, I have a great strain with no useful name.

It has been suggested it may be a Blueberry derivative. Having never grown Blueberry or any derivatives I have no idea. However, it sure is good weed.

And neither George nor Ringo every showed up. Shame really. :)

great looking strain, just shame your mates or you cant pin point exactly what it is, its more like the purple puzzle, purple shadow, or ill just call unknown king purple. damn i would like to get some seeds of that but till i find something that looks similar ill have to make do, my berry bomb seeds av all sprouted so their in pots now, do you have any technics on bringing out the purple but from what i remember you had other strains that wasnt purple growing at same time, just wondered if its pure genetic or can you bring out the purple by say lowering the night time temp, its just ive seen a few nice purple strains but when i came across the pictures of the berry bomb and saw how vivid the color was i just had to give it a try, so only time will tell, great journal by the way, i dont fink you will learn much off me, my last grow was some decent jack flash about 9 years ago and it was one of my top 3 strains at the time and you cant seem to get it anymore, i loved the smell and taste so grew a plant without knowing anything and it ended up been 5 ft tall, and it got abused and moved about from been under lights to window sills when landlord decided to do a suprise visit so we snuk it out the bedroom cupboard when he was talking to my mrs in the living room, close call, but dont it, anyway it yielded loads and the smoke was amazing, just trying to get a decent result with what ive got now but putting more thought into it this time,

You could probably get some purple with mid 60s temps at night late in bloom.

That all sounds like quite the adventure. :D

sorry to hear about your snow Abe. I am sure it will melt soon enough for you. I bet that makes for some great intake air, so nice and fresh. I am glad that the power did not affect your flower cycle :thumb:

it was crazy, landlord turned up out the blue to inspect the flat i had to shout i was getting changed so he went in the living room to inspect the property n i had to work my socks of to undo the lighting and remove any trace of it, pack it all in a bag then i had to use 2 bin bags for the plant, one the pot went in but the plant was sticking out the top so i had to put another big bag over the top then sneak out the front door, close call bug i managed it, anyway got great results off that plant, if i can get half as much with these ill be chuffed,

as for the temps, my day time temps at the moment are between 70 and 75 ish, but my lights are on 24-0, i was using 20-4 method but decided to try 24-0 and the results speak for themselves in just one night ive noticed a huge difference in my plants, loads of new shoots and the leaves have grown a lot more than they have using 20-4. but when i come to flower i think my temps will be down in the 60's anyway as my temps are 70 ish now, the weather will get warmer to not enough to affect my plants, well only time will tell, if i can get buds to look anywhere near like yours ill be so chuffed, but i got long way to go yet, thanks for info and great journal mate

Still no cloning yet. I had to trim them back.
