Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I've heard mite-rid works well although I do not know if it can be used in bloom.

I'll look into it, thanks.

Thanks for sharing with us a great set of pics. Those Spider Mite pics are 1st rate!

Thanks. I think I'm getting better. I just wish I had that macro lens already. :grinjoint:

The Spiderator (tm). ;) It's a 2.5 gallon bucket with a half a quart bottle of isopropyl in it. Anything I find with live (or even possibly live) spider mites or eggs goes in here:

Almost dried buds from TBD1:

Here's a close-up:

And more buds:

There's two of these full. That's an 8.1 qt. airtight bowl, for easy transport from where it dries to home, where I finish, jar, and cure it:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I dry mine a bit oddly.

It is manicured and dries (mostly) elsewhere, as I just don't have the time to trim it all. Typically it gets manicured immediately, and then it hangs in a dark dryish place for about a week. Then I go pick it up and bring it home.

That's where TBD1 is right now. I just brought the buds home, mostly still on stems, in those 8.1 qt Sterilite airtight bowls. I am currently snipping the bud off of the stems into glazed ceramic bowls (Walmart, Canopy 9" Porcelain Serving Bowl).

They will then be covered with a newspaper section still folded. They go under the table in the veg room for 1-3 days. It is dark, cool and still down there and the rh% is at about 40% in here. I am convinced that doing this equalizes the moisture throughout the buds better at the end where it matters. Also I have nowhere to hang them and they never come home quite dry enough for jars. ;)

Anyway, once the seem the right kind of dry, they go in jars. I typically only need to burp once at all if that, and they are still awesome 6 months later if I keep them dark and cool and don't unnecessarily open the jars. I like them jar-cured at least 2 weeks, but a month is better.

I tried some of TBD1 just now, but as she's still not quite dry the taste was bunk. I don't think I had enough to evaluate the high. I'll roll one in a few days and let you know. Hopefully I'll have a total weight too.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Code:
--> Transplantees:

1. CryLo.1A, BD.1F, BD.1J, G13xGB.1H, MT1, MT2, MT3: Transplanted to cut-down 2
       gal bags with myco.

2. L1-3, 6 x G13xGB.1-, 21 x KK2.1- (a total of 30 clones): Transplanted to 3.5"
       pots with myco.

3. Fed to saturation
   Per gal:
	 2 T Bioactive
	 1 t Big Foot
	 2 t PGE
         1 oz. Yucca
   Adjusted to 420 ppm
   pH adjusted to 6.22 @ 21.3? C
	1/2 t Companion
	 1 t Bt-i

That makes a total of 51 in 3.5" pots and 16 in cut-down 2 gallon bags. I need to get rid of some of these. Actually, I need to get rid of a lot of them.

The clone dome only has 2 Lavender (L), 1 Kaia Kush (KK2) and one G13xGodbud cut left. After those four finish I can give the cloning a break for a while I hope.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

nice indoor garden! looks so ... prolike!^^

Thanks Cigo. I haven't seen you lately. How are you? :welcome:

---

I have been around and around with this striped yellowing. I spent a while carefully reading and comparing in Marijuana Garden Saver and I see evidence of both sulfur and magnesium deficiencies. Handily, both are corrected with Epsom salts.

Since I'm doing a bug foliar, I can add them to both the regular feed and the bug spray and everyone gets it. I suspect that the Mg content of the Cal-Mag product I was using may have dropped recently. That would explain this I think.

---

On my recent check of BD I only found one leaf with mites. It had three and they were all dead. I think the Hot Shot No-Pest Strip is working. :smokin:

---

As soon as the biggest veg plants (G13xGB, KK2, and PS) get more root some are going in regardless of size. They have ten days in these pots. I'd like to give them 4-8 more days I think. I want roots on the outside before I transplant to a 10 gal pot. ;) Maybe longer, but I'm in a hurry...

Thanks for sharing your solutions to drying and curing. Always curious on how others do this.

That a good part of why I post here. :grinjoint: I figure either I'll help someone else, or they will see what I do and show me something better, and I will learn from them. :bong:

Veg 1 has hit 900, which is the veg ceiling. G13xGB and KK2 are at 1100, so they are getting close to the 1300 ppm I like to cruise in bloom at. Of course, BD has been there for a bit.

Speaking of BD. I haven't seen any new mites at all still. 🤞

One of the newest clonelings, KK2.1MM, has broken her stem at ground level. The stem is intact, but she is really purple in the upper stem suddenly. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt of course, but she may end up being a casualty.

Thanks. I wanted a sure-dead method of disposing of the mites and eggs I found. As long as I keep it covered, this works great.

Looking super as always....nice harvest....buds look amazing :yummy:

Hey Aberration how's it going man. I just finished reading this thread from the beginning and I have to say it's very impressive stuff. Sorry to hear about the mites, it's a real bummer. I'm sure with the help of some of the expert growers on here that you'll get it figured out.

Thanks for stopping by my thread the other day. It's hard to get people to check out the beginning of a grow, especially from a new grower. By the way my camera is a Nikon D50, not nearly as nice as the 90 you have but it does a pretty good job. By the way if you want I can show you a way to get good accurate color shots from your camera under the HPS lights. All you need is a camera that can shoot in RAW format(yours can) and either Photoshop(expensive) or Photoshop Elements($100). Anyway I'll post a few photos to show how well this works and it takes about 5 seconds per photo. I hope you don't mind me posting photos in your thread.

My subject matter isn't as interesting as yours but you get the idea.

Talk to you soon...

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I was post processing photos with Photoshop as well until I discovered my camera's custom white balance setting. I just put my camera in custom mode, point it at a well lit white surface and shoot and that sets my white balance. All the photos I take after that, in the same setting, are automatically color corrected.

Very true, until recently I had been using the exact same process as above and it does give good results. However IMO shooting in RAW allows you more control over the final image. Also the RAW format stores a lot more image data than JPEG which can be recovered, creating better shadow and highlight detail. This is especially important when shooting in a high contrast environment like a grow room.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Why not shoot in RAW with a custom white balance then? It would cut out a bunch of steps.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Those look fantastic, Closet Kine. I guess I better pick up a copy of PS Elements. Too bad my older PS doesn't read RAW (and Adobe has taken away the plug-in that I understand would make it work). As for your thread, I was sucked in by the words "scientific method". ;)

I totally forgot about doing that slimm. That is also a great idea. I'm not sure using a white card with RAW will work though. I thought that when you take RAW images it doesn't apply any filters at all. I don't know. I'm a rank amateur with an expensive camera. 🤷

I'll be back with the feed report in a while. I'm just getting started now.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

All the veg plants in 1 gallon bags are at 900 ppm and holding already. That's nice because now I only have 2 mixtures for all of veg.

G13xGB and KK2 are at 1200 ppm now (20 days into bloom). Just when they are about to catch up with BD (50 days into bloom), BD will go into flush, hehe. Of course, BD has been hovering at 1300 for a while now. In fact since I plan on taking her to about 65 days and I will flush for the last 10 of those, she's in her last week of feed (only 2 more meals before flush), so no more Feather Tea, and the Calcium Syrup gets adjusted too.

While I was looking at a Purple Sage in a 1 gal bag in veg, to my horror I noticed spider mite damage patterns on a leaf. So I plucked the leaf and scoped it out. False alarm (whew)! All I found was dead mites and discolored misshapen eggs. Woot!

I would take pictures but I'm running short on time tonight. Hopefully I'll get some tomorrow and get them posted. Besides, I can't really get the mites with my camera. I intend to either get a microscope and a mount for the D90, or get one of those digital hand-held units. Except they are low resolution by comparison. I know the microscope and D90 would take much better pictures, but it's far more expensive and therefore a longer wait. My impatience will probably buy the digital one first and the good setup later.

Speaking of mites, it's Azatrol night. I think I will survey the bloom room, and if I don't find anything, I think I will let them be and just spray the veg every week or so. The two I've been spraying in the bloom room have pistils now. The spray breaks down in time, and it can't cause bud rot yet, but it does discolor the pistils and it may be damaging them. Those two go to harvest in about 35 days for G13xGB and about 55 days for KK2. In the long run, there will probably be no evidence that I sprayed them now and it would all be harmless, but I don't like spraying buds no matter how immature.
