Aberration Goes Ker Bloom! - Perpetual

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Well only you know what is best for your grow area.and if you think that chopping is best then you have all our support. More light ewuals better meds. So you more then likely made the right choice. And I must say. When i was younger, I spent time down on some of the mexican farms and even though the feilds were full of males and seeded it was some of the best outdoor I've ever seen in my life. LOL, the strain was a skunk strain just seded an dto top it all off there were colas the size of my plants out there. NO JOKE 3-4 foot colas. Seeded but just stunk. It was sad to see the way they were handled but thats just the way they do it down there. I sould have love to still talk to those guys, but they long gone at this point. They just got way to heavy into that sort of bussiness, and thats wasnt my cup of tea, THANK GOD!!.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Hey, hey! I am back. :smokin:

I need to get some stuff in order here and then I will get right back to regular pictures and feeding reports.

All the girls are still alive and doing fine. In fact, BD has grown into the floro. She is in desperate need of a topping. The rest are doing fine and growing well. I still only have 4 girls in bloom, but I suspect BD will be ready in a week or two.

Humidity problems persist, though with warmer outside temps I'm getting less condensation issues. I hope to come up with at least one good dehumidifier soon.

I started a bunch of old garlic chive seeds before I left, and there are a lot of 2" tall sprouts now. Those last two clones I threw in with them did not make it and need to be tossed.

Last round's Matty gets me super-stoned, and I'm mid-doobie right now.

I should get back to normal (-ish) tomorrow night. Until then...

:peace:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

why the garlic does it help with bugs

It's supposed to repel spider mites.

I respectfully request a picture of every girl in veg, especially the cry-lo... haven't seen that in a while.

Also, a close budshot or two of the bloomers would be sweet!!

:grinjoint: :goodjob:

I just got a nice new DSLR, so hopefully I'll have time for good pics soon. Tonight maybe. My lens in a 35-80mm, so not the greatest for close-ups, but it should be good enough. Your requests are noted and will be met. :)

Pics!

Here's a general shot of a part of bloom. They need to be tied up. Saturday is going to be a major work day and they will need to wait until then. You might also notice the horrible color of the light, thanks to the HPS lamps. I know this camera can reduce that effect. I just need to learn the dang thing. Meanwhile:

2009-12-17-1-bloom_mess.jpg

Next are some bud shots. Again, day 39. First some shots of the Orange Cream:

2009-12-17-2-oc.jpg

2009-12-17-4-oc.jpg

I freakin' love that pic. ^^^

2009-12-17-5-oc.jpg

And that one was just an aperture adjustment away from luscious I think. I'm still learning all of that.

And a shot of the Matanuskan Thunderfuck:

2009-12-17-3-mto.jpg

Here's a shot of some of the veg. The Kaia Kush and Blue Dream both need transplanting and topping. The KK is the right-most, and BD is in the back corner (you can see the 'B' and part of the 'D'). The G13xGodBud is the one in front-center, and will need topping soon as well. The dense, ball shaped SchnazzleBerry is in the back and hasn't changed. And the Purple Sage, which is only half-shown along the left edge, will probably just go into the bloom room soon:

2009-12-17-6-veg.jpg

And because she was specifically called out, here's a semi overhead of the Crystal Locomotive. She's spreading out a bit now and has lots of tops. We'll make a good mother of her yet:

2009-12-17-7-crylo.jpg

There's no shot of the Oregon TrainWreck (ORTW) or of TBD1. ORTW is still as viney as ever and it growing a bunch of itty bitty tops. TBD1 was supposed to be something good, but now my mentor thinks it may be something worthless. I swear he's an awesome grower, but he can't keep track of clones to save his life. It seems like 2/3 of the time he doesn't know what he's growing until it starts to bloom. :laughtwo:

We'll get all up-close-and-personal soon, I promise. I have most of Saturday to do maintenance in the grow room (woot!) and I don't see why I couldn't get some good pictures at the same time. I'll try and figure out how to white-balance for the HPS, too.

May the season bring you :peace: !

KK2 and PS wilted some. They will be transplanted tomorrow, which should prevent that from happening again.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Alrighty then. Let's see what I snapped today.

First, you may remember I destroyed OC7 and MTN3, despite the fact that they were on their way to being monsters. Their root development reflects this. Today I took the pots out back and removed the root balls and soil. I have a pile.

Here's a couple pics of OC7. It had some roots goin' on in that little 6 gallon bag:

1SS855958-oc7.JPG

1SS855959-oc7.JPG

Here's MTN3's root ball. Not too shabby either:

1SS855960-mtn3.JPG

Both acted like a burlap bag full of moss when I tried to break them up by stomping - they just spread out a little and flattened some until I made a major tear in the roots.

I transplanted BD and PS into 4 gallon pots and transplanted KK2 and CryLo into 2 gallon pots. Poor KK2 was 3 feet tall growing out of a 4 inch pot.

Here's CryLo. She is breaking out of her 'Sister It' state:

DSC_0187.JPG

Here she is without a pot during transplant. She was ready to get out of that 1 gallon pot:

DSC_0197.JPG

Here's KK2. She was stuck in this stupid-small 4" pot. I think the zebra striping and yellowing are due to a lack of medium to retain nutrients between feedings:

DSC_02001.JPG

Here's a shot of KK2's leaves. You can see how the yellowing is between the veins and at the edges. She also got a bit of black eye from wilt, if you know what I mean. Can't do that again:

DSC_02022.JPG

You can see she was completely root-bound:

DSC_02032.JPG

PS reacted to the wilt differently - she permanently curled a bunch of leaves:

DSC_02061.JPG

Here's a closer look. I'm sure those leaf ends are going to die off and crumble away:

DSC_02071.JPG

I can't let that happen. It's so hard on them to wilt like that. My eyes got as big as trash can lids when I first saw them. I think they will recover though. PS had quite the root ball too:

DSC_02081.JPG

BD is growing like crazy. I'm going to top her severely when I know she's OK after the transplant:

DSC_02111.JPG

She looks very sativa to me:

DSC_0212.JPG

Here's another shot:

DSC_02131.JPG

And here is her root ball. Looking good and just about the right time to transplant I think:

DSC_02141.JPG

Here's what veg looks like now:

DSC_02151.JPG

Here's a gratuitous OC bud shot:

DSC_0219.JPG

Here's an over-exposed, white-unbalanced pic of some of what I cleaned up today:

DSC_0228.JPG

Here's a Blue Dream cutting. I needed to take it off, but I'm not really prepared to set up the cloner at the moment. So I put it in a little water. Lots of cuttings root this way, and as a low cut from the side it should root easier than a top. Let's see how long it lasts:

DSC_02292.JPG

:peace:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

That cutting, along with the measuring glass, took a tumble. Both of them expired I am sorry to say. That's the third measuring glass in a week. I only have one left - I better be careful I guess. This time it vibrated off the side of the dehumidifier.

Oh yeah! Did I mention I got a second dehumidifier? I now have a 60-pint in the veg room. Over the last 24 hours it has been around 40%. Woot! And the bloom room seems to have settled at 45-55%. This is probably because I took out 45% of the plant mass that was in there. I need to get another dehumidifier for in there, but for now, all is well with no condensation on the ceilings or ducting.

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

beautiful! think i could get a picture of that SchnazzleBerry? it's got a massive stalk!

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

I'll remember to get a pic of the Schnazzleberry next time I have the camera in here.

It's myco only tonight, and we shall see if they need water tomorrow night or if I think they will last longer.

The big girls are showing signs of soil loading. So I plan to drench them tonight with just water and myco. I use all organic nutes, so they don't burn the same as they could otherwise, but it can still turn into a mess in the soil. The big girls drain very slowly right now.

Then I want to let them get dry-ish - maybe 36 hours instead of 24 like normal. We will see. Then I'll start them back up with nutes, but I'm going to dial it back a bit.

Code:
--> MTO2, MTO3, OC6, TBD1 (just for good measure):
1. Saturate:
              *pH it BEFORE adding myco*
   Per gal:
	 1 oz. yucca
2 T myco (Williewann Wonder Dust)
   pH 6.30 @ 19.3 C

:peace:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Bloom Day 44 (& 13 too)

I decided veg could use a myco hit too.

Code:
--> MTO2, MTO3, OC6, TBD1:
1. Nothing.

--> ORTW, CryLo, SchB, PS, BD, G13xGB, KK2 (veg):
1. Saturate:
   Per gal:
	 1 oz. yucca
   pH 6.21 @ 21.8 C
2 T myco (Williewann Wonder Dust)

Pictures!

Because you asked, newsisnoise, here's SchB (SchnazzleBerry). First a side shot. I was given her so that maybe my environment might pull her out of her bushiness. No dice - she's just a bigger topiary now than she was before:

DSC_0231-schb.JPG

It's just rediculous. The nodes are 1/4 - 3/4 inches apart everywhere, even in the middle. The tips can't seem to grow out past the last few nodes' worth of leaves.

Since you mentioned the stem, here it is next to a lighter for scale. I've grown bigger, but this is quite good. She is a sturdy little girl:

DSC_0232-schb.JPG

Here's a shot up her skirt:

DSC_0234-schb.JPG

Here's one looking down from overhead:

DSC_0235-schb.JPG

Here I am holding a single branch. The tip is in there:

DSC_0236-schb.JPG

Here's a close look at a top:

DSC_0237-schb.JPG

Is that insane or what?

Finally, here's a shot where I'm parting the bush and I find... more bush. This does this all the way in, and these leaves somehow survive in huge numbers in here:

DSC_0238-schb.JPG

I think I forgot to mention that my mentor came over on the 20th (2 nights ago) and we cloned and topped some of veg. He took the clones so I wouldn't kill them. ;) I'll get some of them back, and that's cool.

So here's a shot of the main stem of BD (Blue Dream). We took about a foot off the top. :brows:

DSC_0244-bd_top.JPG

Next are some pics I took experimenting with my D90. I don't really know what I'm doing and I'm just stumbling around learning to integrate the array of features to get the shots I want. Along the way I took some mistakes that turned out kinda cool actually.

Keep in mind that none of these are purposely mis-colored - I was trying to white-balance the HPS light so everything would look a bit more normal. And this was some of the result:

Oooh!

DSC_0246-oooh.JPG

Aaah!

DSC_0247-aaah.JPG

Ohhh!

DSC_0252-ohhh.JPG

Mmmm!

DSC_0264-mmmm.JPG

This one is blue because that's what happens when the camera's flash fires on something lit primarily by the MH lamp. Kinda cool, but not the natural coloring I'm looking for:

DSC_0268-blue.JPG

Here's something a little better:

DSC_0282-oc.JPG

Then, because TBD1 is still smallish, and because she has sweet little white fuzzy pistils (and I'm a sucker for that, to my shame ;) ), I dragged her out into the veg room for some shots under floro. So here is some gratuitous 13-day-old-bud porn:

DSC_0283-tbd1.JPG

You might notice I was playing with Picture Control with these last three, so the 'finishing' effects vary. One is 'standard', one is 'vivid', and I don't know what the other one is, or even which is which. I'm pretty stoned at the moment :smokin:

DSC_0297-tbd1.JPG

The full size version of this one just became my desktop wallpaper:

DSC_0302-tbd1.JPG

I think I'm becoming an aperture-priority junkie already.

:peace:

Re: Aberration Goes ker Bloom! - 2009

Damn dude. That is one extremely full plant. I'm suprised the inner leaves are able to make it. As bushy as it it they can't be getting much light.
