A thread for the users of Mars-Hydro lamps

Hi there, I've been searching all over to try and find an answer but there isn't much comparison info that I can find...

I have a 4x8 tent and I'm looking at either 2x marsII 1600 lights or 2x mars pro II 320 lights...

Both the 1600 and the 320 draw about the same 700 watts on full power, so which is better? Is the pro worth the extra money? Thanks very much for the help!!

Question for Sara. I have an opportunity to buy a used light that needs repair Some leds burned out. How much to replace leds?

Go for the pro-series, they're worth the extra money. And they're much easier to repair and maintain

If I would have known how easy the pro-series was to work on compared to the Mars 1200 I would have gotten the pro-series just for that reason. I can't say anything bad about my Mars 1200 though, it has performed great so far.✌️

Does the 320 have as much power as the 1600? Or is it the same power as the 1200? I just want one with the best power for my area to get the most watts/ft, I like that you say the 320 is easier to repair etc so I think this will be the one I get asking as it is powerful enough...

Thanks for you advice mate!

the 1200 is 600 watt
the 320 is 800 watt

I can paste in my repair summary from the official Mars-Hydro thread. I just repaired a couple of these myself. It's so damn easy

I succeeded to use the parts from one of the lamps to fix the other. Now I have 2 320's that works and 1 320 that is dead. Here is my repair summary:

First in their broken state. 4 blue sections are dead
001_-_Broken_lamps_1_and_2.jpg

Opened the lamps, swapped drivers to determine which parts are broken, Determined cause of dead sections in both lamps were broken power supplies - Put a piece of tape with R.I.P on the broken parts.

Second lamp - Also here the power supplies for the two blue sections were dead. Marked with tape and R.I.P

Second lamp also have a broken LED-section. Should fix that as well while the lamp is open, so I need a new one of those as well
lamp_2_-_broken_section.jpg

Marking the dead part with tape and writing R.I.P.

Noticing that all the sections have either identical PCB numbers or almost identical numbers. This applies to all 3 lamps

Then I took the two remaining working power supplies from lamp #2 and replaced the bad ones in lamp #1 with those. Then we screwed everything together and we connected it and we pressed the buttons - Voila! We're back in business. Lamp #1 is now fixed.

That second lamp there is now missing a section of LED's and 4 power supplies. I hope Mars-Hydro can send parts as fast as possible because I worry something may happen while I do not have a working spare light. I want to fix it so I can feel safe again :)

Here is the broken parts list:

4x 100 watt power supply for the blue sections on Mars Pro II Epistar 320
1x LED section for Mars Pro II Epistar 320 - because of dead bulbs. Swapping drivers did not fix that, so that one is broken

So that is a total of 5 broken parts. Hope they don't get stuck in customs this time. I do however think the problems are over for this time.

Right after I posted "I think the problems are over for this time" I discovered I have a spider-mite infestation, so no - the problems never seem to end, but I love growing these plants anyway :)

Here's a few photos from my room after fixing the lamps

I really like my Mars 300's so far! Currently in early flowering. The COB looks really nice! I'm looking to get another LED soon since I've dedicated both of my 300's to my one female - my seedlings/3 clones in dome have had to move outside to get more than 12hr light haha.

All around good lights though! Can maintain less than 80'F in area with no additional cooling.

Hi hortishorti - did you have them under the 300 from seed? Did you find an optimum height when they were young?

I'm just using one for the first time (first time growing indoors) so eager to learn from your experience.

Mars Pro II 320 will better than Mars II 1600, Mars II 1600 installed with lens and has glass cover, when the light through lens and glass, the light will reduced, and the heat will cannot dissipate immediately :Namaste:
Mars Pro II 320 use creative reflector Cup design collects 100% of the light emitted from the LED chips, and ventilation holes around the panel, heat won't keep in side the light, so will run cooler:high-five:

Hi Ray
How many leds burnt out? Can you soldering? What is the light? Mars II 700 or 900?

Question for Sara. I have an opportunity to buy a used light that needs repair Some leds burned out. How much to replace leds?

Right:high-five: when repair Mars II 1600 by yourself, you might need to know how to soldering, but Mars Pro II don't, we will send a whole led section.

Go for the pro-series, they're worth the extra money. And they're much easier to repair and maintain

I have had them under the Mars hydro 300 since ~14 days old. Seedling height was around 20-22 inches.

I really like the production I seem to be getting with the mars hydro. Today marks day 14 of flower - here's what I've got
