A thread for the users of Mars-Hydro lamps

No idea Tom. I think they will probably wait and see how these sell first. COB is much more expensive than the blurple technology. The Mars Hydro is a hybrid between blurple and cob. Hope the market will react well but you never know. I am waiting for mine right now. Think it will be delivered on the door today

Sweet no doubt there cob should do really good. I would like to see it in there pro light but that would be just copying the rest lol. But hey that's what they all do anyway. I'm wanting to build a diy cob setup when my garages are done being built. I'm going to do a mix of led and cobs in a 8/8/10 room for bloom and not sure what I'll use for the veg rooms for light purpose. Will be led for sure.

Received the COB. WOW!!! Bright light! Bright light! (with Gremlins fresh in mind)

The brightness is really painful for the eyes. Amazing. The spread is much better than I imaged. As some of you know, the pro series have a very concentrated light but not a good spread. This one seems both concentrated and with a good spread. Very very promising

I have 9 Mars Hydro lamps, so yes. I ran into issues more than once. Mostly as simple as a dead power supply which they of course send you for free.

Ouch, bad luck! Well, the rep mentioned back in 2016 that their component failure rate was less than 3/1000 - so you ought to be problem free for the next several (err... hundred, lol?) products ;) .

I got a feeling they will do really good, every other Mars light that I have seen performs well, im excited to see how they do with cob added. I can't remember if you said in past post but what kind of grow are you doing as far as how many plants, I was thinking it is a 100w I believe.✌️

I've read a ton of horror stories about Mars hydro burn outs and their customer service for lights still under warranty. They supposedly will just send you new chips if one burns out and it's up to you to solder it on or find someone to do it. I got rid of mine real quick like before it burnt up, haven't asked the guy if it still works or not.

That is an option yes, they let you fix the lights yourself if you think you are able to. Very time saving. You also have the option to send the light to a repair center.

On top of this they also make videos for you how to repair your lamp. They made personalized videos for me to fix my specific issue. I understand many people are afraid of soldering. They should go for the pro series like me. No soldering, just unscrew the part and replace it

I don't know. Personally I would never buy a light I can't fix myself. Sending huge things like this across borders - it takes so much time and energy.

One of my driver broke too, and I think it's the humidity like yours. My humidifier was running high for a few hours with light off. When I light it up, *poof* noise, only one side worked.

The support was real nice, they send me a new driver, but since they send it from China I have to wait, and wait and wait... here in Canada everything that goes through customs take a loooooooooooooooong time.

The last info I have is from august 12 that it was living China.

But the Mars support proposed to send another one in a few days, I know it's not their fault, but it still suck.

That's the reason I am so happy I have a spare 320 to take parts from

Btw! Mars is going to try to recreate yours and mine error in their factory. They'll leave the lamps off in a high humidity environment for 12 hours and then fire the lamp. I think that's the reason indeed.

@SmokeSara and the rest of the Mars-Hydro team. First of all - Thank you so much for the COB. I will put it up in the main-room now temporary while I fix the broken lamps. I also want to thank you for this little extra gift you gave me. It's a really beautiful lucky cat. Just the one we wanted. We're hoping this will bring us, the cats and the plants a lot of luck for years to come. It was much bigger than we expected - Wow! Thank you so much. Really appreciated!

LOL :) I have a telephone phobia, so I am very happy I don't have to talk to a real person. Damn we people are different

I was down for 3 weeks, when drivers failed on 2 occasions.

I broke controller on my clw light, had new controller next day. Their lights did ok for me, I just can't wait that long. That and I didn't like not being able to call and talk to real person.

How big it is?
I was kind of jealous when I saw the pix a few days ago, I check on eBay and they cost a lot! I want a lucky cat too!!

It's maybe 40 cm tall? Did not measure

Put up my spare 320 and the Cob up as spare light while i fix my lamps

I really like my Mars 300's so far! Currently in early flowering. The COB looks really nice! I'm looking to get another LED soon since I've dedicated both of my 300's to my one female - my seedlings/3 clones in dome have had to move outside to get more than 12hr light haha.

All around good lights though! Can maintain less than 80'F in area with no additional cooling.

That must have been... inconvenient, lol. We should probably all have some sort of backup lighting plan in place. Well, except for those who are still growing with 30-year old HID ballasts, lofl. I once dropped one of those heavy SOBs down my basement steps - I think it hit one step before going off to the side and putting a blemish on the concrete floor. I was afraid to touch the thing when I plugged it in to test it afterwards :rolleyes3 . Still worked fine. Which was good, because I'd have had to drive (as I did drive back then) 15 minutes to the local electrical supply house to pick up the parts to rebuild the thing. But other than those, most lighting devices can fail at the most annoying times.

I didn't like not being able to call and talk to real person.

Huh. I corresponded with the rep some time ago (a couple years, maybe three) and was pestered a few times for contact information via something called Skype. Isn't that... like... voice/etc. communication via computer app? I didn't really have any interest in talking to people, lol. People talk so slowly - and I can read much faster than that ;) .

Yea, the time difference didn't help either, I'm inpatient. But I still like talking to a real person when I'm having technical difficulties. They need to setup small call center, have just couple telemarketers, since these newer lights are modular. Just 3 things to fail, leds, drivers, fans. It would expedite things. Probably just bad experience on me, because I've heard completely opposite stories.
