re: GLH 600W LED Grow
I wonder if over-all, the penetration would increase or decrease with multiple lower-wattage units?
The 600w has more intensity and penetration at the expense of footprint, so you would gain more footprint with more units of lower wattage, but I'm wondering if you would lose penetration even having one 180w over each plant.
Reason I'm wondering is because that 600w seems so bright and powerful that maybe it's not a linear thing.
When I was wondering this, I was calculating watts per square foot of led unit's board. So if the board measures 12x12, and your cranking out 300W , you have 300W per square foot of board.
I ran these numbers for several companies a while back, but I have misplaced them. I figured determining the most watts per square foot of board, and I am almost sure the 180s, or the mid-range boards provided the perfect balance of watts and size.
Dealing with many led units both high and low output, I think it depends on what your area is, but it would seem to me you want the most watts per square foot, without being too ridiculous about it. If this means fewer low wattage panels, over a single high wattage panel, my thinking is you get the same output per panel, just a matter of coverage at that point.
There are simply more LED's on board with larger units, running at a higher wattage because they are usually MORE led's in the same size or smaller area as those with fewer led's.
Make sense? I can't seem to put it into words. lol
Hope that makes sense....
