re: GLH 600W LED Grow

they're swelling up real nice irish

:goodjob:
Yummmmmmmmmmmm.:bravo:
Lookin Suweet!!!

Thanks guys! their getting more and more frosty by the day. the camera only pics up maybe 50% of the resin. looks like a ski slope on the buds.lol.
i just hope those colas fill in on my XJ's? they seem to be allot slower at flowering then my hindus. but the hindus are getting nice and fat for sure, i dont know if you can tell in the pic but i have some big ass hands also.lol

Good things take time. the XJ-13 has Jack in mix with g-13, if i remember correctly. The jack (one of my fav strains) pheno that I was runnin was about an 10-11 weeker, and stacked up very nicely during the last couple of weeks so I wouldnt be surprised if those purty long colas do fill in.

I must say Mike's LED's look like they are rockin it!

i know the club says their 8-9 weeker but they usaly go and exta week or so. thanks for the heads on on the time. i have allot of friends that grow jack but i always forget to ask them how long. all i know is jack is a high yielder with long big fat colas. i dont know too much about G13 but the fact that ive always wanted to smoke it.lol. +rep for the good info bro.

ya i must say mikes leds are doing great so far, i was dreading on doing this grow before i started it because of past leds grows. i had not that much hope in leds and kept wondering why i even bothered and just went with my 1000w hps. but as you know the summer over here are nasty hot.

hows ur ladies looking bro. i hope things turn out for you and u hit that 1gpw. u should with co2 and areo setup with 8plants right? u should pull some nice numbers.

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

I wonder if over-all, the penetration would increase or decrease with multiple lower-wattage units?

The 600w has more intensity and penetration at the expense of footprint, so you would gain more footprint with more units of lower wattage, but I'm wondering if you would lose penetration even having one 180w over each plant.

Reason I'm wondering is because that 600w seems so bright and powerful that maybe it's not a linear thing.

When I was wondering this, I was calculating watts per square foot of led unit's board. So if the board measures 12x12, and your cranking out 300W , you have 300W per square foot of board.

I ran these numbers for several companies a while back, but I have misplaced them. I figured determining the most watts per square foot of board, and I am almost sure the 180s, or the mid-range boards provided the perfect balance of watts and size.

Dealing with many led units both high and low output, I think it depends on what your area is, but it would seem to me you want the most watts per square foot, without being too ridiculous about it. If this means fewer low wattage panels, over a single high wattage panel, my thinking is you get the same output per panel, just a matter of coverage at that point.

There are simply more LED's on board with larger units, running at a higher wattage because they are usually MORE led's in the same size or smaller area as those with fewer led's.

Make sense? I can't seem to put it into words. lol

Hope that makes sense....

re: GLH 600W LED Grow

A good comparison here would be the 19x19 second gen units from HGL. There is a 205W and a 345W. Both units use the same size housing. One unit uses more led's, and more watts consecutively. The coverage area stays the same though. Because even with more watts you still have only a set number of diodes shining down, and shining from a 19x19 area. Which in realistic terms is only about a 16x16 led board. On the smaller unit there is fewer led's which cover less area on the board, this is where size of board / watts would be used to determine intensity.

Perfect example. In this instant, if room would allow it, it would be more realistic to have two of the smaller units equaling close to the same output as one large unit vs. having one larger unit cover less area.

I like the 200W range...if they can nail a great coverage board, with 200W and not being excessively large, this would seem ideal to me. Or make them small enough to put one unit per plant on larger grows, and one unit per micro-grow.

Fun stuffs!

Hey Irishboy, thanks for the size comparison on the colas, puts things into perspective. Looks good.
no problem beo

Irish those colas are mind blowing. I thought it did not snow in killa cali? You SOB, the buds look damn good. :bong::grinjoint::bravo:

its snowing in April over here.lol.. :grinjoint: and its about to snow ever more the next 5 weeks.
