4inch PVC Aero/NFT 4x5 SCROG - 1200 Watts

Re: 4inch PVC Aero/NFT 4x5 SCROG (1200 Watts)

Just a question but is it possible to just raise the screen up a few inches further on the new growth and then trim out anything under the screen? Just thought it might take less time than tie a lot buds out.

If I raise the screen many of the bud sites will fall below it.....even then, the ones that do not will still be shaded.

Some fishing line will help us this evening. I'll provide pics when I do it.

Man stellar job so far.
What are you using for the roots health they should be massive. I use Zone by Dutch Masters to help with that. What are you using ?

That tree trunk is amazing. Cant wait to see those big, sticky buds.

Re: 4inch PVC Aero/NFT 4x5 SCROG (1200 Watts)

What I've learned so far

With my aero setup and the particular strain of Snow White here is what I have taught myself through my own journal:

1. It takes 6 days for the clones to show visible roots once placed in the system and sprayed with 200 PPM R/O water.
2. If I were going to grow this strain withoutthe screen, I would have to veg them for 15 days and then flip to 12/12. I have not tried this yet,(I am on my next grow) but watching the progression of my journal lets me know that in order to keep them at 30 inches finished, I'd have to flip them at 15 days of veg.
3. This strain doesnt like it when it's roots are allowed to make it to the nute res and it causes a lockout. That problem has since been fixed.
4. I have a 40 day veg cycle to fill the 4x5 screen with this strain.
5. The 10 on and 30 off seems to be a winning combo as far as timer settings go.
6. You do not need to run at high PPM with AN nutes and R/O water: 300-400 in veg, and 300-500 in flower.
7. It takes me 105 days to go from clones to finished scrog. It would take me 85 days if I grew the 9 plants without the screen. I need to grow both ways, do the math, and decide which way will be more effective. However, I won't base it off of this scrog because it was my first and I had much to learn. The next one I think will be a much clearer indicator of what I can expect. In no way do I think I will meet what I could potentially do with this system on this initial grow.
8. When growing with the screen I need to train this strain for the first 17 days after flipping the lights. I let them go vertical on day 12 this time and that was a mistake.
9. I need to buy a dehumidifier right away for my flower room. 60-70%.... ugh.
10. 420magazine is a great place to get help.

More to come!!

Re: 4inch PVC Aero/NFT 4x5 SCROG (1200 Watts)

thats a nice list.

all about the details. i have to do #9 also, and I agree with 10.

only 300-500 PPM?? wow. why does that work? because you spray them so often? i will have to go back and look and see what your nutes are again. must save a bundle on your nutes though.

two words: tree trunks.

Love is such a lovely word, goes well with green. Freakin nice scrog dude. Very impressed with your diy set up. I havent done any diy for quite awhile but I remember how much fun it was. Most of my diy were ebbs and bubblers and that was around the time I was doing multi plant scrogs. I learned alot about scrogs during that time period, I had to because of having table setups with a rather low ceiling with over powered lights. This is when I learned that buds can grow into the screen engulf the mesh and mold where the bud cuts into it. Was only a problem when I jammed half the main colas into the screen to try to keep the most even canopy possible. I do have a few old pics of the scrog somewhere, if you like I can dig them out for ya but it wouldn't be of much help and things look great to me. Oh and your right, timing is everything. You know the heights and time and use it to your advantage and you can have so much bud with lil trouble its almost funny compared to not using those magic numbers and struggle on the 3 week of flower. People always ask whens the best time to flower and I always start off with it depends on the plants grow environment and size of grow area. Sorry for rambling on, I am running low on bud and switch to hash which makes me chatty for some reason. Again, wonderful grow setup/ plants/journal. I see many reps in your future. I can't rep ya now but I am sure I will in the future bro. Keep it green.

Thanks wheel. The reason that I knew I could go so low is because a good friend that posts under the name of Earl actually built this very type of system. I got all of my ideas from him.

He used Advanced Nutrients sensi grow A&B, as well as Conniseur A&B and reverse osmosis water just as I am. He vegged with PPM of 400-600 and flowered with the same.

He grew purple cindy and harvested 27 ounces off of 1 plant. Granted I think he had 2400 watts on her but still..... you get my point.

Although I cannot tell you exactly why, low nute doses and frequent res changes will do the work with this particular Aero system. Earl has proven it.

Thanks for your input bro... I tied the tallest colas over with fishing line and tucked some leaves. The canopy is pretty even at this point. Let's all cross our fingers.

Day 23 after a res change. PPM sits at 400, PH is 5.6, res temp is 66. Room temp is 76 with lights on and 66 with them off. The screen is almost invisible now.

Re: 4inch PVC Aero/NFT 4x5 SCROG (1200 Watts)

You know Earl from HG? That guy really knows all about aero and finds the best places to get cheap parts. Talked to him on a number of threads. I know hes still around, just have no ideal which forum he went to. How you cut right into the side of the resevoir is the same as one of his diy projects he was using last year or early this year.

Yes. That's the same Earl. He frequents several forums.
