480W & 720W LED Grow - Land of Clovers

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

trust me thats what i really need in my 110F+ temps.lol

thats the bad thing about 1w leds is the soil stays too wet and all that stuff. if you put a fan blowing up under ur girls this will help with things. i am glad the CFL's are working for you, and thats all that matters. if your happy with the way CFL's are treating you then i would just invest in them it will be allot cheaper thats for sure.lol
yes allot of people are following my grows and like them but their not willing to change, and thats more then ok, if your happy with what you get with ur setup then why change and get out of that comfort zone? i am the type of person that likes to try different things all the time, so i dont mind change.

i cant wait to see where that Plasma teck goes but it still has a long time from what ive been told. now i dont think its going to be a blow led out the water thing i think its going to be a team with a mix of led and plasma in one unit. or maybe it will just be alone and kick leds ass? IDK?lol

to rep.... on the left screen where it shows the members name and states when they post just like i am doing, on the bottom left side under they name and states is a white balance scale , click on that and it will say you want to add rep? they leave a message in the box and that person can see why you rep them.

it allows better penetration but mostly increases the tops/yield buy putting more upwards branch growth closer to the light. My way of doing LST is different from most. i just bend the plant over once and let it grow up. most bend it over then keep on bending all the branches to create tons of other branches and keep a low profile for penetration on because of not having all of head room in their grow area.

Thanks for the information on the +rep. If you could do that for me that would be cool so I can see what looks like LM AO

I like to think I'm a fast learner and I'm picking up a lot of information quickly with a steep learning curve. Looking back I would not purchase the wide spectrum LEDs. LED light needs penetration just like CFL's.

I'm going to focus on CFL's because they fit my grow room perfectly and I can experiment with different frequencies and different wattages. You can always pick up a bulb in a pinch anywhere in the country in less than five minutes.

CFL's are not that far off from the ideal. Considering Rosenthal why don't even know but seems to be a fellow lawns men (sp) I like we said where the ultimate would be 6000 to 10,000 lm per square foot. In essence you bringing the sun into your grow room.

With my set up that would equal around 38,000 lm which is identical to bringing the sun into my room on a mid-after day. The problem I had with LEDs is really a low temperature and lack of transpiration of the plant itself.

I like the idea of my soil drying up, plant getting oxygen quicker through quicker dry cycling of the soil and no overhead obstructions to allow my fan to blow my plants around. I could theoretically put 1000 W of CFL in a 2 x 2 x 72 grown room a could have ridiculous buds.

I couldn't do that with HPS because of the heat factor. I could do it with CFL's. I'm only chiming in with my opinion based on what I've read and because you are willing to experiment yourself like most of us here.

Anyway, I will check back with you and see how things are going. If I find any LED wisdom to share I'll be back on this thread

cheers!

Rep given to you.

if it works for ur setup then thats all that matters.

i grew with CFL's for a long time, they just weren't my cup of tea for flowering. did great for vegging, but i had allot better results with HPS watt for watt. at that point in time heat wasn't a issue. some setups do better for others because of their grow setup. every grower has to just try things out and see what works best for their setup/needs.

thanks for the feedback.. keep me posted on how things finish for you. good luck my friend.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

I wonder what they have as far as a safe small karaseen/butain heater.Think that would be a win win if there is something small enouph and well designed to run safely.:)
PS I just looked at some camping tent heaters by coleman and some other one.You can use them with the small tanks but only last for 8 hrs.But they do make an adapter so you can run a bigger tank. They are safe to use in a tent and its flameless...Well im sure when you turn it on there may be a poof.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

The smell of kerosene is terrible and will give me a headache in minutes. Stinks up your whole house or area. You can get larger kerosene heaters that last a lot longer on a lower setting. You also have to worry about wicks burning out. If your wick goes... it leaves an ashe over EVERYTHING!! Think long and hard before you use one on your precious plants!!

i wouldnt go that rout because they put off lite and it would mess with the girls when the in dark time. i was going to get a garage heater but its still puts off lite also.

very good point.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

check out this heater. its $70 at walmart

Lasko Products - Air Circulators

i was thinking about until i found out i did not need it.

no light and the vents can be angled

the problem is its hella watts, i have heathers like that but the cost to run them is crazy. i am looking for something around 300-400w

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Oil filled heaters, with three settings on them. Give's you as low as 500W, but you can lessen even still.

I have used this and brings my ambient temps from low 50s, to low 60s, so about ten degrees. Things are still a bit chill. Thinking of going ahead and throwing in an HPS would resolve the problem, and not waste electricity.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

That is a good point I didnt think of that. You would problubly half to run it threw your duct fans. But yeah seems to much like work and maybe not such a good ideal in such close living quarters.

As for ash and smell. The models I was looking into are not very big units there just little camping heater that are made to be used inside a tent.Same thing you would use in a green house just on a much smaller scale.I dont think ash would be a problem but smell and headache yes I would half to agree.Half to second think my self it may put out to much co2 in the night cycle and as Irish said even thow its flamless im sure it putes out light.Good thought but maybe not best for this application.

an oil-filled heater would add C02 to your air ..which is a good thing! Although, the carbon monoxide is NOT a good thing lol.

I think the oil heater would be good provided you vented your tent fairly well before you entered it to help get rid of the monoxide.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Sealed oil filled. As in radiator type heaters guys. Sorry my bad.

They are electric, but they have a sealed oil chamber, they are shaped just as an old fashioned steam or hot water radiator heater would be.

Sorry bout that!

LOL, I kinda half-assumed that is the type of heater you meant, but wasn't sure. I honestly don't think a kerosene heater would be a bad thing at all. They produce plenty of heat, c02, and of course the stank from kerosene. I guess depending on the strain you are growing you may not even notice the kerosene exhaust lol. I sure wouldn't with my grow.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

ive been spreading the word about led teck, mainly mikes lights because i think their the best, the bad thing is leds have a very bad name and certain companys made some bad led lights and it made allot of people think leds wont flower. even though i have the pics to prove it, i wanted to know id some of these GLH light owners could leave a review on my thread right here for the to read? just give your honest opinion on them so others can know more about how mikes customers feel about his lights thanks guys.:thumb:
