480W & 720W LED Grow - Land of Clovers

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

I had to do that on the comparison grow between the 126w and 180w LED lights, because the grow was during the cold months and the lights produced very little heat.

My electric bill pretty much doubled. It sucked.

One thing that will really increase the efficiency of space heaters is to have a circulation fan set so that it circulates that hot air around the room. After setting the fan up, I was able to turn the thermostat on the heater down quite a bit, but it still sucked having to run it.

ya thats what i have been trying to figure out by aiming them and movin them, trying to find the best curculation. im gonna go out some point to buy a lil bit bigger fans, i think i need a lil more circulation in here.

Did I 'Herer' someone say Jack Herer? :blunt:

Whats up Irish!

I've decided to make a posting, since I've been reading along with your "travels". Glad to see you doing some Herer! Are they under LED's? I am currently growing one plant of Jack Herer under HID and I'm 2 weeks into flower. I didn't end up LST'ing the Jack since it looked so chunky already. Can't wait to see what yours end up doing. I have a feeling they will respond very well to it.

yes sir all on my grows are 100% leds. they are what suites my needs and what i am looking for in a light.

Now the Jack Herer is my dream plant ive been waiting to get for some time. they 100% organic grown also. and so far they are loving being tied down!

just for you my friend i will post a pic. i have the xtreme gardening tea brewing right now for them to drink tomorrow. so far this tea is doing wonders well all of the products, look how sex they look the color is out of this world, still haven't PH'ed anything.

Hot air from the space heater rises, so I found the best setup to be having the fan up high, about 3/4 of the way to the ceiling, and angled up slightly. No oscillation necessary in my case.

When I added the circulation fan, I came back a few hours later, and the temp in the garage had gone up by 4 degrees, so it helped a lot, but my electric bill was still too high.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Thank you sir!

Those are sure to be some beastly gals alright. Gorgeous green color as well! How long are you going to veg out the Jack's before the switch? I will most likely be doing Jack next run also. I just like what I've seen from them so far. Haven't yet had the pleasure of smoking it...

The next change for me is to CMH, since I have two HPS ballasts. Only a matter of time before I dive into LEDs!!! :slide:

ok ya ill try this out and see how it does for me. thanx :blunt:

thank you sir. oh you never smoked Jack? oh man your in for a treat. their is not buds like it, the smell is like no other! theirs a reason why its a 9x cup winner.

i will veg then for maybe another week then flip them.

i think CMH will treat ur Jack real good, seems to make some frosty buds. i know Jack stretches allot and i know my leds cut the stretch down a ton so i am interested to see what happens, just looking for the arm size buds like last grow.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

has anyone ever smoked apple jack? its a white widow x jack herer cross. i know both are killer on their own so i would think theyd be a great cross.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Hey Irish

just an update I'm flowering my 3 white widows under 500 W of 2700k of CFL's. Rosenthal recommends around 7000 lm per square feet and in my case that would be 28,000. I am running 38,000+ lumens and my cabinet looks like I've got a miniature sun LOL

here's my feelings thus far with LEDs:

1. Heating problems (too cold) even here in Las Vegas in winter
2. Humidity on the low side because of lack of transpiring
3. Soil stays wet too long

these are some additional issues that need to be addressed. Looking at the CFL's right now I'm getting good transpiration, a little bit warmer and 25% more efficient than HPS due to used wavelengths used by plants instead of wasted IR.

I'm planning on finishing this way and switching to the same wattage CFL's in 6500K next go around for vegging. This might be more suited for me.

Nevertheless, I noticed a lot of people don't like change and I'm hearing a lot of people really curious about your grows but are not running to make changes.

By the way they're working on a new plasma diode that from what I hear will blow away LEDs. Of course it's in its infancy stages and very expensive. I'm sorry if I'm somewhat off course on your thread but I thought readers might enjoy my personal experience thus far.

Can you please tell me how to manage +reps in detail?

Keep on trucking my friend! And thanks

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Great thread, all the girls are looking great, looking forward to hearing your idea about heating the area when the lights are out as i can see myself having the same problem once i get going, the lst thing is new to me, is the idea of doing this to allow better penatration to bud sites? or just to strenghtin the stem, :welldone:

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

Then will you work on cooling idea for the summer LOL

I'm going to need it

I'm a lazy ass I need to start my journal here too. Well not lazy just to much other stuff going on
trust me thats what i really need in my 110F+ temps.lol

thats the bad thing about 1w leds is the soil stays too wet and all that stuff. if you put a fan blowing up under ur girls this will help with things. i am glad the CFL's are working for you, and thats all that matters. if your happy with the way CFL's are treating you then i would just invest in them it will be allot cheaper thats for sure.lol
yes allot of people are following my grows and like them but their not willing to change, and thats more then ok, if your happy with what you get with ur setup then why change and get out of that comfort zone? i am the type of person that likes to try different things all the time, so i dont mind change.

i cant wait to see where that Plasma teck goes but it still has a long time from what ive been told. now i dont think its going to be a blow led out the water thing i think its going to be a team with a mix of led and plasma in one unit. or maybe it will just be alone and kick leds ass? IDK?lol

to rep.... on the left screen where it shows the members name and states when they post just like i am doing, on the bottom left side under they name and states is a white balance scale , click on that and it will say you want to add rep? they leave a message in the box and that person can see why you rep them.

it allows better penetration but mostly increases the tops/yield buy putting more upwards branch growth closer to the light. My way of doing LST is different from most. i just bend the plant over once and let it grow up. most bend it over then keep on bending all the branches to create tons of other branches and keep a low profile for penetration on because of not having all of head room in their grow area.

re: 480W & 720W Grow LED Hydro - Land Of Clovers

IB, I'm running an oil-filled fin type radiator. It has 3 settings: 600-900-1500w. It also has a thermostat and a timer. I try to keep it on 600w 65°... but last week never got above 40° outside, man that meter spins :(

What's the brainstorm?

:peace:

we will have to see what i come up with;)
