3rd Grow - Time For The Light Show

The plants are looking good in the pic, and i agree that more nutes does not look like what is required for the LSD right now... your jounal is so popular its hard to keep up!!

and im actually making some cookies myself uncle, haha i need to make a vid with making some cookies!!

I'm late but I brought edibles... lol all this talk about cookies and I just had to make some today I am going to make some more in the morning got my brownie mix ready

Hey mate that's not hijacking a thread that's bringing some good shit to the party :) They look great and it's nice that you're making donations of them too. I only wish I was closer so that I could partake of your wares. Feel free to post whatever you like on here I'm not doing any important scientific research or anything lol. All the best :thumb:

As far as the plants are going all the plants seem healthy apart from the LSD. I have held off giving her extra nutes just to see how she goes (I'm putting her life in your hands here people) as everyone agrees that she doesn't need any extra nutrients.

The seedlings are coming on well and I will be transplanting them in the next week or two. I'm thinking of ordering some fabric pots for them rather than the big plastic planters that I'm using now, as I'm under the impression that these type of pots allow more oxygen to the roots. At least that's what I gather judging by the way most people use them and seem to have some nice luscious plants, so I will be giving those a try for myself.

The temperatures are now a none problem, as you can see in one of the pics the temp is at 79.5F and more importantly the plants do look happy. I found a couple of tears in one of the Incredible Bulk's leaves so I threw some more diatomaceous earth down but couldn't see any pests when I checked the plants. I'll give the DE a few days to work it's magic then I will check again.

Here are some pics of the ladies in the light room...

The Incredible Bulk 1 is the plant that I found some tears on. No sign of pests and not even any silver streaks or browning, weird but we'll wait and see. Here she is with a side view:

and from the top, you can actually see the tears in the bottom of the picture towards the right hand side:

The Incredible Bulk 2 is alive and well, here she is from the side:

I will be topping all these plants again soon, I just need to be sure what I'm actually doing as I'm not too sure :O I fimmed on my other grows but after my last topping of these they seem to have grown back quite nicely so I'll be sticking to topping for this grow.

Here's a gratuitous picture of the Light Room today:

Now the little girls are still going well and they're growing new leaves too. As I said earlier these will be transplanted in a week or two (more than likely two but I'll see how they look).

Here's the Big Freeze:

The White Widow:

Finally the Amnesia VIP:

The Amnesia VIP seems to be a little further ahead than the other girls and could be an earlier transplant. I'll see how they look and decide on the spur of the moment which is pretty much how I do things, which is probably why I have many 'oh shit' moments after doing something :)

I hope everyone is well and I apologise that I can't bring any homemade edibles to the party. I've read up on butter making but I only have the trim from my last grow (although I threw a lot of popcorn buds and the odd nice nug into it) so I think it would be pointless attempting to make any as of yet. I did drop a subtle hint to the wife that one of those MB3 machines would make a nice Birthday or Christmas present though so we'll see what happens around that time of year ;)

All the best everyone may your days be green, or brownie coloured as the flavour of the day seems to be :) Good health everyone :thumb:

Just a little update today with no pictures. Not too much going on at the moment, yesterday I watered with tap water at PH 6.2 and today I topped all the plants in the main tent. I've also started to turn on the growth switches on the Reflectors too and will see if it makes any differences to the girl's height. I like how they're growing as they are short and bushy but if the red gives a bit more height too then it's a bonus. The red will be on for 1 to 2 hours a day over the next couple of days and I'll hopefully be able to see if it's making a difference.

All the best everyone, have a great weekend :thumb:

We want pics!! We want pics!! We want pics!!

Hey UncleC, I'll put some up either tomorrow or probably the day after. My daughter moves out to Uni tomorrow so it's a bit busy here and I'll be driving tomorrow. I've switched the Mars II's bloom switch on now too after the little bit of a write up that I read over on the Mars Hydro thread regarding reds being needed before flower, I'm giving it a go and over the next couple of days hopefully there will be some visible difference. :thumb:

So you have one off to Uni huh? Congratulations mate!! (I know your pocketbook must be screaming about now. LOL!!)
:thumb:

IMHO it's best to try to mimic the natural light spectrums of the sun as much as possible at all times for good plant health.
I think it would be best to use the full array of color spectrum's throughout the grow.
If you want short node distances just keep your day/night temp differential at a minimum, but not equal (equal day/night temps causes problems).

Wanna help me with explaining this temperature difference thing, Uncle- or whoever? I've heard it a couple times now. That maybe it reduces potency? Did some googling and immediately hit upon Robert Bergman saying this from his 'marijuana grow bible' -( how many Bibles are there anyway? )
Another important rule is that the temperature differences between day and night cannot be too high, a maximum difference of 10ºC. So when it’s 82ºF (28ºC) during the day, it cannot go below 64ºF (18ºF) at night. A temperature difference of 5ºC is ideal.

I used to vary between about 75-80 day/ 58-65 night. Now I've got a dehum in for the mold, and because of the heat it produces, the temps vary from 80+ day/ down to 75ish night. Not sure what to do to drop night temps except maybe some sort of day/night thermostat fan controller, set to 75 day/65 night, so that in the nighttime, cooling fans will be working against the dehum heat. Sounds inneficient...also - I wonder if I'd immediately lose whatever RH reduction I gained by putting in the dehum, with a bunch of cool moist air coming in...

I'm not familiar with the Robert Bergman Grow Bible but there are 1 or 2 things that could be the reason for him giving this advice. One would be to minimize dramatic increase in humidity during the evening or lights off time. The larger the temp differential between day (higher temps) and evening (lower temps) results in a corresponding increase in RH during the times when it is cooler (normally evening). The other reason could be to to minimize node elongation or node spacing.

There have been studies done mainly with chrysanthemums that have conclusively shown that there is a direct correlation between final node length spacing (in the case of MJ this would be post stretch) and day/night temperature differentials commonly referred to as DIF.

What they found is that an increase in positive differential resulted in elongated stems. What this means is, if night time temps were substantially lower than day time temps the node lengths ended up being spaced further apart resulting in a longer overall stem.
On the other hand when night time temps were nearer to what day time temps were (or if night time temps were less than day time temps) it resulted in reduced node spacing and shorter overall stems.
There have also been studies that showed that by keeping day/night DIF temps too close or in negative territory for too long of a period (about 30 to 45 days if I remember correctly) it will result in diminished plant health and chlorosis of the leaves or something another.

It's been over 25 years and many bong hits since I studied horticulture so some of what I've stated may be slightly off but that's the overall concept.

If your ambient conditions outside of your tent have a favorable RH then increasing the air flow through the grow space at night should result in the grow space environment almost matching the ambient environment where the fan is drawing it's intake air from.
Would it maybe help to increase airflow or put the dehumidifier outside of the tent or both?

By the way WC, you can call me Uncle- or anything else you'd like, just don't call me late for dinner. :)
:peace:

OK I'm going to stop updating on this journal as every time I can't be here the conversations get better and some real info gets thrown in  Excellent write up UncleC and thanks Weaselcracker for dragging that info out of him and making him do a bit of work for the good of the community :)

I've only just got back home and still have plenty to do but I've been burning to say thanks to you both since I read that this morning so I had to make time while I'm not driving. In the meantime my lights are being changed so that they will be off in the afternoon which should not only help with my daytime temps but will also help towards giving me some of that node spacing I've seen grown on here so many times yet failed to achieve myself. It's a bit risky with the Police as there's always a helicopter flying overhead here and that has me slightly worried, but I'm supposing that's why we use these tents and they would help stop the lights from shining up to the helicopter. Time will tell and if I start getting paranoid I'll just have to change them back (grabs a sniff of black pepper to relieve any anxiety or paranoia hehe).

That's pretty much it so apologies as there are still no pics, tomorrow shall be the day for that. I'll try and catch up on my subscriptions while I'm on but I'm afraid I'm just too pushed for time today. But like I said I just had to get on here to thank this wonderful community for sharing such advice as this. You all ROCK. Have a great weekend and see you all soon :thumb:
