Hey there,
I was reading some of your posts regarding rotary gardens. It's soooo hard to find anyone with real experience with these things.I found a 336 GI Grow on craigslist on the cheap and had a few bucks burnin a hole in my pocket so its in my garage now.

Im a medical grower in Cali with limited space and I would love to get this thing going. Any help would be appreciated as I have no experience with drip watering and limited experience with rockwool. I started off in soil and moved right to Aero.

It's going to cost me more to set up than I paid for it ie. rockwool, nutes ect.. So I would sure appreciate a little help to shorten up the learning curve as funds are limited.Anyways have a great day! Thank you Chris

:welcome: nuudle.

congrats on your buy man, rotationals have their advantages and disadvantages and if you can dial them in they have a great deal to offer.

the volksgarden uses a flood and drain tray at the bottom of the wheel where the cubes flood once a day. so unfortunately I probably wont be of much help regarding the drip system that the GI grow uses, but fortunately 420mag has some other wheelers besides me, and a grower here by the name of damian thorn used to use a gi grow I believe. i think he has a link on his signature on his post at the top of this page. i'll look. he would know more about the drip system i'm sure.

I have had a hard learning curve with rockwool myself, and can definitely give you some pointers there, but again from reading about the gi, im not sure how it waters exactly. on a timer?

it would be cool if you did a journal of your experiences learning. . . like you said it's pretty darn hard to find good info on these systems. it would be nice to see a wheel other than a volksgarden in operation, plus you'd have a couple wheel growers able to look and make suggestions.

if i had it to do over, i don't think i would buy my wheel again, $2k will buy you a heluva lot of nice equipment. but if you got yours cheap, its definitely a cool way to grow, and can match any other system g/w hands down when its dialed in.

so ask away. i'm here to help bro.

smokin holy shit makes me want to take pictures. . . so here are a few more of harvest.

first, this is what holy shit makes you do. . . a midnight manwich.

Food porn and bud porn should never accompany each other.

you've thrown me into an endless loop ;)

damn that looks good!

lol, thx guys, over 2 lbs of sirloin in the sandwich, we like to put philly to shame whenever we can where i'm from. had to have help from my bro eating it though.

man when those holy shit munchies get a hold of you, you just can't help yourself sometimes. :grinjoint: . . . we each had half of a coconut custard pie I made too. . . that was over the top for my belly but i couldn't stop eating.
i need a woman. lol.

i love cooking, i would do it all the time, if only someone else did all the dishes afterwords, i'd be in heaven. . . but yeah, you're a lucky guy weedy. nothing better than a fine woman who can cook and is down with a toke now and again.

well, i looked and he doesn't have a link in his sig, so let me help you out bro,

here is his journal:
The never ending Saga continues.purplekush GI grow 240 site and flood tables.

and some interesting completed journals if you haven't already seen these:

Volks Grow

Omega Garden's Volksgarden Rotary Garden

and then my other two runs which are in my signature.

Hey thanks for the welcome "Wheel"... Yeah the watering system on the GI is unique. There is a bar that rides on top of the wheel and runs the width of the trays that hold the rockwool cubes. It has a proximity sensor that senses when the tray is directly under it and turns on the drippers. The pump is on a timer so it only drips at certain times. I could see where this could be very successful if it was dialed in.

I'll make you guys a deal, give me a hand with this and I will document the whole grow (good excuse to use my new digital camera).. I am thinking about packing my "hampster wheel" with Purple kush, I have enough mothers of this strain so the cuttings would'nt be a prob.. I could also use GDP or Purple urkel. I prefer using my organic Botanicare nutes but if you guys think something else would work better im open to that.

What do ya think? Hey, if you ever wanted to venture over to Aero I could certainly help with that. Cheap and easy to build your own system and the growth rate is unsurpassed. Anyway thanks for the the welcome and the info.

haha! it was delicious.

i'd take that deal, but no deal is needed, if you run a journal, i'll be there and trust me, it'll be hard to get me to shut up sometimes. lol. i can't speak for anyone else, but I can tell you that this community is one of the most helpful friendly communities online. maybe a bit of excessive back patting, lol, but thats never hurt anyone's feelings before.

after using several different nute regimens, i think that it doesn't matter anymore. i think its more about finding the right balance with the nute you chose, not which nute you choose.

at this point in my grow knowledge, heres what I follow:
1)some good base nute (i'm using connoisseur, almost any base will do though)
2)a micro nutrient supplement if the base needs one (mine doesnt')
3)a good enzyme formula (i think hygrozyme is the best)
4)a bloom booster (like big bud)
5)i like to use some beneficials at the beginning of flower like piranha, tarantula, or voodoo. just for the first week or two to get them thriving in the medium. I also use some carbohydrates to boost the bene's reproduction.

i think these 5 essentials will give you a good result regardless of which system or which nute company you use. . . I like to support AN, because they are local (to the US) and I like their political ideology. also i think they make some good stuff specifically designed for our favorite plant (not that anything that says dutch or humbolt isn't also, lol)

so hit me with any questions here if you want, or shoot me a link to a journal if you start one, and i'll def be tuned in there too. gl nuudles.

plus, thanks for the aero offer, if i do ever go that route, I will be wrapping it around a vertical bulb like a coliseum. most of the rotary benefits, avoiding many of the pitfalls. A legendary grower (best g/w i have ever seen or heard of) named heath will be running a journal here in the near future. it's one NOT to miss. when he starts, i'll definitely make mention of it here, try to get him some more views, not that he'll need it. . . more like, try not to let anyone here miss out on watching it.

for me trying new things is half the fun. don't be surprised if you see me running some weird hybrid systems in the near future including the wheel and some other hydro method, aero or ebb and flow. . . right now i'm leaning toward ebb and flow. one of my fav grow rooms here is one by McBudz. . . such a great staggered continuous harvest. mad props McB!

That's the arrangement I have with my wife, and it is heaven!

I do all the cooking (trying to keep the mess down as much as possible) and she does all the clean-up.

She's happy, I'm happy, and we both get to watch our weight, lol.

do you have any twenty-something daughters, nieces, relatives, etc??? I'd consider leaving the east coast if I had to. lol.

your a lucky man in so many ways SS. and Mrs. Sun is pretty lucky too bro.

Could'nt agree more about Heath. I have seen a journal with that verticle aero lunar module masterpiece he did, very impressive. I'll have to take some pics of my current Aero grow for you guys. 20 site 2k watt Super lemon haze from Greenhouse seeds. 6 weeks into flower and the smell is almost to sweet and overpowering as I run a sealed room with c02.

Hey thanks again for the warm welcome...
