300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

Back to basics peeps...

Osmocote is a big name in the industry...

Once and done...I say hell yes!

Rock it SS; Doc as well, for your insights and information.

If one could collaborate this information and turn it into an easy to download PDf....

Can you say overgrowing!? hehe

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

ok, y i forgot u was using crf. r u adding anthything else( liquid ferts) in this grow at any point or just keeping it crf/ plain phed water?

I've been using PH'ed rainwater or RO with 5ml/gal of cal-mag. The last couple of times I watered them, I added some Maxicrop seaweed, but outside of that, it's just been PH'ed water with cal-mag.

From here on out, I'm going to discontinue the cal-mag and just use PH'ed water.

thanks staffy!

couldnt you do this with your side x side tents instead of investing in 2 fans?

Re: 420 Cannasumer Reports Competition - GrowLEDHydro 300w LED vs. 400w HID

Hey SS sorry to ask about an old post but did you use 2x 3x size of the pot, or more, for the flush back in early Oct? Reason I ask is I need to do a flush for my plants and its 5 gal bucket fill operation hauled up and downstairs - the less water I have to haul and waste down the drain the better.

:thankyou:
:peace:

That was more than just a good flush back then. I put the plants in the kitchen sink and ran gallons and gallons through the buckets to leach the salt out of the coco, so it wasn't a normal thorough flush.

I probably put at least 20x the size of the buckets through there, and they're 3-gallon buckets. You definitely don't need to do that for a normal good flushing.

3x the size of your container should flush things well. I had to flush them in the sink because I didn't flush the coco well before I used it.

I could, but I'd need to upgrade to at least the 6" Suncourt fan to get the same ventilation, and I'd lose individual control over each tent, which is the only way I can equalize temps when running and comparing different light setups and technologies.

If I was just growing, and not doing comparisons, a single fan with a Y would work fine to ventilate both tents.

For doing comparisons such as 250w CMH vs 250w HPS in open hoods, the single fan would actually be an advantage as far as equalizing temps between the tents, but with different lights and different amounts of static pressure, it would favor one tent over the other.

food for thought thinkerr ;)

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

I would think chilled water with clearex would do a good job of flushing CRFs. - for those that want to flush.

how high are the ppm's for the runoff compared to your plain water SS? (cant remember what docs were...thought it was ~350...)
:ganjamon:

chilled water would shock the roots, which may or may not be an issue that late in the game?

I'm finding that CRF's work best when you water with very little runoff. Too much runoff leaches a lot of the nutes and then it takes a few days for them to build back up.

So, I don't think cold water or cold room temps are necessary to flush CRF nutes if one wishes.

A normal water flush maybe 3 days before harvest would flush them out pretty well.

if you end up testing the HPS vs CMH and want to sale that 300w i have 1st dibs!!! theirs always room for one more over here.lol. just something to think about? or i can always wacth it for you and make sure its safe while u do the test:) i would like to see how it dose with the glass in compared with the glass out. shit a light bulb just turned on!! that would be bad ass a side x side with one led light with the glass out and the other with the glass in. i would love to see that so bad. :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo: we all want to know if it makes a true difference and by how much? :yahoo:

Now there's an idea I can put to use this week. :reading420magazine: Perfect for my two little grow spaces.

The great information just keeps come through. Don't have to rely only on my three functioning brain cells. :420: Rocks!

ppm of my rainwater is 25, and the 5ml of cal-mag raises it to 380 or so.

Runoff has been running 800-900.

I'm hanging on the Spectra 300 for now ;).

Glass vs no glass would be a good one.

or how about two 180's vs the 300w?

BTW, I lied.

the ladies haven't been packing it on, they've just been getting ready to :ganjamon:

THAT WOULD BE A GREAT ONE! I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THAT MORE SINCE I HAVE BOTH SETS OF LIGHTS:thumb: what u mean their just getting ready to pack it on? are you saying their still getting fatter or am i reading that wrong?

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

I'm saying that what I thought was peak bloom wasn't. I think peak bloom just started the last couple of days and they're swelling like crazy.

They're stinking a lot more too.

I scanned trichs with a loupe last night and both groups are still mostly clear, so the last set of trich pics really didn't represent their general condition.

They're looking like they're gonna go at least 2.5-3oz each, maybe more, so I may pull a pound off of this grow, which would be awesome.

dont you love when that happens? you think what u seen is what ur getting and their done, then they slap u in the face and just plump up. this is very good new my friend. IMO looks like you will get a pound or more from the pics, of course i can see how dense they were, on my 600w grow i pulled mad weight off of 4 plants so say you get even half that 9.5oz each 4 from 300w. all i know is all my buds grown with these leds are very very dense. i would think the same for urs? i hope you get at least a pound of straight prime buds, ur quality of the buds is crazy good :thumb:

ok, ya ive been just doin the ph'd water this time with the Mental Floss, first time trying the OC+, i think next time i will add somethings, very small tho. hey if u have the time check my MF out and let me know how u think i am doin with it please. and be honest. im gonna put up week 5 pics later when i finish work, those might be best to look at :)
thanks SS

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

As I thought.....seemed that they were too far gone for their age. My micropix trash the colour bigtime.

yep, although they can be helpful, the micro pics don't cover enough ground to take to the bank, and colors could be off

You will be spoiled by effects of this plant, daggaganja, mon!:rasta:

Get some Sunset Kush going, get jars full of both varieties, and you will be able to hybridize indicas and sativas in the mixing bowl, day meds, night meds, dazed meds, etc.

I find the suncourt fans very LOUD, don't you?

If one was running two of those tents how big of a fan would you need? You run the 30x30x64 right? As I do x 2.

Keep on Keepin on!

re: GrowLEDHydro 300W LED vs. 400W HID Demonstration

My 4" Can Fan is very quiet, but the volume of air it moves is not.
I use a lamp-dimmer to throttle it down, but a muffler would quiet more volume.
By the numbers and reports, the Suncourt is even quieter.
Problem is that air moving against any surface will make noise; it's turbulence.
A larger duct will carry more air at reduced velocity for less noisy movement.
Conduct the air to a chamber - like an attic - and the noise dissipates.
Flue dampers could adjust airflow for balance. These fans can pull a load :bigtoke:

Actually, if you used one or maybe a couple of duct dampers on each leg of that Y, you'd have very good individual tuna-bility, so that goes in my 420 file for future reference.

thanks man ;)
