1st Time Grower Box Build - 1st Clones And New Grow - Maui Wowie - GDP - LA Kush

Very true. Till this day I still be reading and watching youtube because I dont ever want to think that I know everything. I keep learning about more and more or even go over what I already know just to make sure thats what I know. After I do this I will find ways to invent a new way of feeding or even growing all together. You find out whats the max we would be able to do as growers. I want to make my own fertilizer. I think ill be starting that when Im done with my second grow. I should have alot of basics down by then.

I always say to my staff the day they stop asking me questions about what they are doing is the day they should start looking for a new job.

Life is a learning process and we will never be able to fulfill are brains potential of holding knowledge.

After a little bong therapy, I decided to go down and check on the ladies. They are all doing well. I decided that I wanted to get some of those new growth tips on the GDP and LA Kush to catch up with the rest. So, I pushed the main branches even farther away from the center and pinched off some of the bigger fan leaves that were taking up all the light in the middle of the plant. Now the middle is more open and them shorter branches can catch some light and catch up to the rest. I was initially just slowly bending the main branches to train them horizontally across the screen. But, that just kept choking out the middle. Once the main branches grow a little longer, i'll start scrogging them again ..... but out around the outer edge. Here's what they look like after pinching off the big fan leaves .........

LA Kush .....

GDP .......

The Maui doesn't seem to have the same problem with the center getting choked out. So, I just keep running it horizontal. It really seems to like being scrogged.

While I was tweeking the GDP and LA Kush, I decided I was going to take a couple of the lower branches that had no hope of every reaching the screen or getting enough light to flourish. So, I chopped them off. I figure the main branches could use the energy more than these little branches. I gave them a really good shot of root hormone and shoved them into the rapid rooters and put the dome over them. We'll see how these clones work out. The other ones are still in the bubble box. But, I don't really think they are going to do much. I'll keep them in there till they either rot off or grow. I think i'm going to use an aquarium heater in the water .... to heat it up. I keep misting the bubble clones. But now with the dome off of them, I am going to have to do it more often.

Here's what the new clones look like. Wish me luck.

Back to our earlier conversation ...... I actually use pot just like any other medication. I take it ever 4 to 6 hours ..... typically. It's kind of tough some times to "smoke like a patient". It's fun and it's easy to partake a little too much .... LOL. But, I like to smoke till I can just start to feel it. That's when I get the most theraputic help .... without the couch lock. I try to stay at that level as much as possible during the day. Without getting too high. But, right before bed, I get much higher to make it easier to fall asleep. I haven't really found any negative aspects to using pot. Other than having to pay for it .... and that it's federally illegal, even though it's changing so many peoples lives for the better.

All Looking good so far.

Sorry i havent done a scrog before so was wondering if you have some plants that are a little further ahead is it not possible to LST the ones that are behind which will them give the others time to catch up, just wondering as i know i will have to do this with mine when they are ready but i havent done a scrog before.

Meant LST the ones that are ahead

The Maui that I have is a sativa and grows so much faster than the GDP or the Kush. This isn't an issue at all right now. I could probably just bend it back and LST it down to try and control it a little better. But, when I finally fill up the screen with the Maui, the GDP and LA Kush will still have more room to fill up the scrog screen. So, if I flip the lights to 12/12, I will end up with less flowering (in theory) from the GDP and Kush because they haven't filled up the space alotted to them. But, if I were to wait until the GDP and Kush have filled in the screen, the Maui will have long ago gotten way out of control and ran out of room. I could probably just keep topping or something to keep the Maui more under control. But, at this point is more of an experiment than anything else. So, I am just doing whatever I can to help the GDP and Kush catch up. If I can promote more growth in the center, it will help fill the screen better.

That my inexperienced new grower theory anyway. We'll just have to wait and see if it works out that way.

I think if you LST the Kush so that you get a spiral stem so may have to tie back 2-3 times that should resolve the issue, just hard to say definatively.

so like this --

That thing is pretty interesting. I bet that thing would work great if you had CFLs or T5s mounted on the walls of the grow box.

I decided to go ahead and put the heater into my bubble box. Since it's in the basement, the temps are pretty low (60ish) and will get lower as it gets colder outside. I'll have to keep an eye on it today and make sure it doesn't get too hot. Hopefully raising the temps will make them decide to root. I'm also going to move a thermometer down to the bottom of the clone box. It reads 80 degrees at the top. But, it think the temps at the bottom are much lower. That may be why the clones are just sitting there and not doing anything.

EDITED TO ADD:

I checked the bubble cloner water temp and it was 58 degrees. The heaters been in there about 2 hours and the temps are already up to 66 degrees. I'll keep everybody updated with where the temps even out and what the effects are on the bubble clones.

Yeah,

Everything seems to be working out well. The clone bubble box is now at 70 degrees. I'll let ya all know if that makes any difference or not. I went to check on them today. Not much to say, they keep growing a couple inches over night. I just re-arrange them as needed. The Maui needs constant attention to keep it where you need it to be. It grows so much faster than the other two.

I am starting to see just a tiny bit of yellow color along the main vien running down the center of some of the fan leaves. Not sure what that is all about. I'm thinking it's some kind of micro nute defficiency. I'm not going to get too worked up over it. As soon as I get the BPN nutes, I'll be starting them anyway. So, no sense in doing much about it right now .... even if there is something to do. Not sure there is actually a problem.

Welcome Thresher. Wish there was more going on right now. But, just waiting on the new growth to fill up my scrog screen at this point. I plan to flip them once the screen is almost full. Also planning to start using BPN nutes as soon as I get em.

Right on,thanks mutt..happy to stumble upon ur journal:)
Was just reading back to do a little catch up,and could not help to notice all the usual suspects.hehe

At the rate they are growing, I don't think it's going to take much longer for the screen to fill up.

After reading n lookin back on da pics of ur cloner and the probs ur having the first thing that strikes me is the clear container on bottom and no dome on top.roots need darkness to begin to thrive not to mention having it dark down there also prevents algae build up..thats the reason why all commercial cloners dont use transparent rez..with the exception of store display to show inner workings of the contraption.the importance of dome is to maintain humidity so ur leaves dont transpire while ur roots try to develop to sustain n provide for leaves..hope this helps
