1st Hydro - LED Grow With Crop King White Widow From Seed

So those are the female parts? I just want to be sure. I will cull any males right away so I am being kinda ocd about it. And is it normal to see it in just 48 hours? I thought that it took about a week or 2. When bud sites start popping out does it slow down the stretch?

Ok so if I am seeing bud sites now or at least pistils, then I will do a res dump tomorrow and fill with bloom nutes and supplements. I only added bloom supplements on Saturday. I did not add bloom nutes or do a res dump. So the res is about 12 days old with pretty fresh supplements, but not really fresh nutes.
I really do not want any missteps right now. So I will go easy on the nutes. The plants are also showing that they need some more Calmag. So they will be getting a big dose of supplements but only about 1/2 strength on everything so I can track the ppm and everything.
If anyone sees a problem with any of these plans, please say so. Do not want anymore problems, just smooth bud producing sailing. :)

You could just wait until your next normal res dump and then fill with flower mix.
They will be stretching for a while... might as well give them the N they want a little while longer instead of feeding your res to the toilet :bongrip:

Well it goes to the side yard. But I get what your saying. I think I will just go ahead and do it tomorrow and get the baseline ppm so I can start to get an idea of what they want and when. 12 day old res is not "wasteful". I have also added 16 gallons of water to the system. So about 50%. I really wish I had a RO system already. I am waiting on one. Not sure when it will be ready and get to me, but I am looking forward to getting it. I will continue to ponder this. But I have the time and motivation to do it tomorrow morning, so i think that is what i will do.

Mehhhh... RO system is handy for people making money from this art we casually refer to as growing cannabis.
It only gives you an extra 100 ppm of headroom to stuff more nutrients where there used to be useless carbonates like cal and mg that the plant can't even use.

Vlad rolls without RO or PPM meters, because I like to live every day flying through reality by the seat of my pants.

I get the RO thing. If one were to use a sterile reservoir, why not use tap water? If I ever try hydro, it's going to be tap. Our water is only 50ppm and comes out at 7.5 PH. Any reason this wouldn't be feasible? Sorry to hijack

Edit.. I was typing this as you replied Vlad

The H2O from the long network of corroded city pipes contains cal and mag carbonate, but it is not usable for hydroponics, as bacteria must break it down for it to be assimilated at the root.

So...... what you have to do is calculate the PPM of your nutrition and include your tap's ppm.

Also for me my water is fairly "hard" water. The PPM is ~150 and 8.4 pH coming out of the tap. I looked at the water report, and it was pretty good, meaning no chlorine. So, I want a RO filter to remove the 150 and bring my pH down. This way I can add only my nutes and supplements. Vlad had some great results on his last grow without the use of meters or RO. However even Vlad admitted that he was going to get the meters. I can obviously grow plants with my tap water, but I would like to see if this helps me dial it in even more as well as giving me less things to have to do and check. Ideally I would like to be able to go on short trips without killing my grow or hurting it very much. I could always recruit a friend but that defeats the purpose of a stealth grow. :)

RO is the way to go, that way you don't have to worry about the ppms already in the water. RO water should come close to 0 or be under 20 ppms. That way you know exactly whats in your solution. you can add calmag to the RO water and get an accurate ppm count, then add the base nutes and additives and see where your ppms lie.

I have seen some astronomical ppms with peoples grows that use tap water, but the tap water already has a high ppm, like mine, where I live the ppms come out in the 700-800 range. Horrible water, if I just add the calmag and nothing else I already hit around 1000ppms, then adding in the other stuff brings it way over 2000ppm. Those numbers can be confusing to new growers that are trying to keep ppms under a certain number. Initial ppms of the water your using makes a big difference in trying to feed yor plants the right amount. Hope this helps you decide what water to use

BAMALABRAT........put down the yellow sticky tape and..............back away...SLOWLY!!!!!!! :thedoubletake::):laughtwo::rofl::hmmmm:

What are you talking about RSOiler? lol i do not know what that means but made me laugh anyway. :)

Taken from sciguys journal:

<<<<Well that settles it. I was thinking about "tasting" the fly strip, but not now!>>>>>

I'm thinking "Yellow sticky tape" :thedoubletake:

On the feeding schedule, I've had good luck feeding veg nutes through about the first week of 12/12, then transitioning to flower nutes. In the past, when I switched straight to flower nutes, I got a leaves toward the bottom being sucked dry, but nothing too bad. Either way you'll have to watch and tend to their needs!

 RSOiler that was funny.

Thanks JoJo. Yeah so that means it has been 3 days into the flip. I could go longer but, I also have a busy end of week this week. Today is the best time for me to do it. So it will get done a little earlier but that should be ok. Fingers crossed. :wood:

Update 3 days into Flower:
Going to change out my res this morning to bloom. I will update this evening with the numbers and results. The tent looks incredible. They grew really well overnight. The big girls are really getting their legs under them, and are starting to just overpower their neighbors. The Tuts I have reaching behind them to get to the edge of the screen. They still have about 10" to go that way. The WW's are reaching behind them and only have about 5" to go to get to the edge. I am thinking by the end of next week, I will have the whole tent covered. That is 32 square feet! That is awesome! Now just need to get the PPP and WW to not try and grow to 6' tall and we will be rocking. :)
I pulled the Tut1 clone out of the cloner. It was dead, and started to get dried out and crispy. Tut1's other clone is showing some brown spots on it's bottom leaves. I am going to not be very happy if I lose both of them. :bitingnails:
The other clones are looking like champs. Maybe the Tuts are harder to clone than the PPP? I guess we will just wait and see.

Wait, don't throw them out yet!

Sometimes clones can look really horrible for a couple weeks, look these were mine after they were taken, and this was about 10 days after I took the clones.

These were taken and got very yellow and brown and crispy. As long as the center is green it still has a chance. They looked almost dead for about 5 days before they started to grow again and drop the yellow and brown leaves they had, and after a few more days they looked like they never had a yellow or brown spot on them at all and they were no longer dried out but nice and green and healthy.

Cloning sometimes can take awhile. But be patient, depending on how mature the mother was it could take longer, if she was already showing sex, than she was a mature plant when you took the clones. Sometimes it can take up to 21 days for them to root, then once they root they start getting their color back and stop looking like they are on deaths door.

What are you feeding your clones? Are you using a dome over them? That's another thing with clones too, since they lack roots you need to keep them in a very humid environment, I recommend using a dome or a makeshift dome over each plant and spray the inside of the dome, leave that on for a few days and look for changes.

LOL thanks for the advice and those pics. That is awesome Sciguy. I already pulled the clone. I am not happy at the moment about my PPP1, the big girl. I did a res dump this morning and right now her tops are drooping over and her leaves are drooping down. I do not know why. She is the only one that seems affected right now. I have added nutes and some additives. Just waiting to see what she does. I will be crushed if anything bad happens to her. :bitingnails:

I have done both soil and hydro, and used RO water for the first time when I did so. After some more reading I discovered that the tap water here was pretty good so no more RO. No significant change. I love the rapid massive growth you get hydro, but it is a lot of work. I actually am growing some of my plants in hydro, but mostly in Fox Farms Ocean Forest soil supplemented with fish bone meal, worm castings, and bat guano. All the clones start in hydro. I have had limited success transplanting from hydro into soil. Here is one I moved from hydro to soil starting to flower

Oiler is such a crack up! Reminds me of my departed mentor BID (Big Irish Dude) And like Oiler said, put down the yellow tape and get some natural pest repellants growing like Rosemary and Oregano. If you still have problems after that, try some food grade pestisides being carefull not to overdo it and if you still have problems after that, drop back 15 yards and punt! Good luck with your grow!

Ok, update time.
So while I was doing a res dump, I had an unexpected visitor. Seriously, I had my grow open and was changing out the water and had my pH pen an sample in my hands when my brother comes around. Well, that sucked. It totally set back the time and interrupted the whole process. I over filled my buckets while talking to him. Had to dump a bunch of water then. Was trying to slowly fill them up again and started added in my nutes and supplements. Forgot to turn the recirculating pump on. When I went to check on my ppm and pH it showed me a super high number. I freaked out and dumped water and then added more water to lower everything. Realized my recirculating pump was off, started swearing and getting very freaking annoyed. I had to leave at this point. Was gone an hour, when I returned my PPP1 was laid over. All of her stems and branches had decided to lay over and her leaves went droopy. I had to add a gallon of water and the ppm and ph were 900 and 5.6. So I came inside and wrote that quick note to Sciguy and made myself a sandwich. After the sandwich I went to check on the grow and everything was back to normal. Whew.
Checked on it right before lights out tonight and everything was looking real good. Just had a messed up time this morning. PPM and pH are great and it smells great. I was going to take pics during the res change but I did not as I was distracted.
I should say that my bro also smokes. A lot. He loves the stuff more than our folks. He was very impressed by the grow and wanted to know where my stash was. lol. I told him I have not had a harvest. It will be X-mass smoke. I told him he has ruined the surprise gifts I was going to give on X-mass. :)
Anyway, the clones are starting to look a little worse for wear. I will take pics of everything tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good night.
