keep up the good work..............PEACE

I try to keep mine between 68-72...I have heard of people going lower than that, but 68-72 seems to be working well for me.

BTW, sorry for causing a bit of lap-top burn...us southerners have a colorful way of speaking...lmao!

Day 28

Well 4 weeks in and as you can see, I've got buds coming out the demon hole. The posted pics are of the two plants that seem to be about a week ahead of the other two. The other two are budding, it's just not as prominent and easy to photograph. Things have made a dramatic turnaround from just 5 days ago.

Anyhow, I am very pleased with the progress and health of the plants.

New topic now.

The grow room plans are coming along nicely. The solar panel contractor is scheduled to start work Monday and they estimate 5 days work to complete.

The electrician and plumber will be in shortly after completion of the panel installation to do their thing, and then I take over.

Unfortunately, I cant seem to make up my mind how I want to set up the room. My first thought was to make between 20-25 DWC buckets until good sense broke out and I realized that it would take many hours to swap out all those buckets. Next thought, the one I'm leaning towards right now, is multiple tables set up for drip irrigation. I could easily get several 55 gallon plastic barrels to use as a res/return system, which would be a major time/labor setup. I want to be able to have 20-25 plants in veg at all times, with an equal number in flower. I intend to have a seperate space, well away from the main grow area to keep any males/hermis for pollen collection and to let them mature for butter...waste not want not you know.

Anyhow, the time is here for you experienced hydro growers to weigh in. I have studied and read until my eyes hurt and now its time to hear all input on the setup.

Lighting will be 10k HID...4k in MH for veg...6k in HPS for flower...all run off Quantum digital ballasts...they have a dimmer option I haven't found on any other lighting system...however they may be more like it out there that I haven't seen.

So let the debate begin.:thankyou:

Getting the setup that moves to track the sun so that the panels are always angled to catch the most light?

No. Filling the entire south facing roofline with panels...going to have over 1700 sq ft of panels installed. No trees or other obstrutions to block the light so there was no need to incur the extra expense of a tracking system. I'll never use all the power that they are going to generate as is, so I'll actually be able to sell back surplus electricity to the power company in my region as well as load a bank of batteries to store up power for rainy/cloudy days.

LOL...hell, I buy the extra juice....cant wait to see the set up man.....sounds intence.....good deal.

Hate to disappoint you Hippie, but in the name of security, I won't be posting pics of the outside of my house...I'll be posting plenty of pics of the actual grow room as its built, but with building permits being issued and inspectors coming in and out to sign off on the electrical and plumbing, it seems a risk not worth taking. I am by no means famous in my town but I am well known, and so is my house. Sorry to disappoint on this but security comes first.

Wise choice, what with tools such as Google Earth, Terraserver, etc.

I hear that man....my buddy had a grow once up north....there had been the first snow fall of the year...2 feet on the ground....when I pulled up to his house, I started busting out laughing.......his house was the only house in a 4 block radious that did not have snow on the roof..LOL...I brought him out and showd him...he had not thought of it when he started the grow in his attic early that year....LOL..we stood out side and laughed our asses off..wasnt no sense sweeting then..lol...thank god he was close to harvest....he switched the next grow to his basement.....a lessoned learned.......PEACE

That's when your buddy should have gone around to all his neighbors and griped about how he was freezing even with his furnace going full tilt and how high his heating bills were. Someone would have just said, "Look - see your roof? That means that there's no insulation in your attic's floor. Get some rolls of 'glass (whatever) and it will help keep the heat in your living space and also help keep the roof cold enough that a layer of snow can build up on it and act as an additional insulation device along with the dead-air space in between."

Then he could have carried in enough to insulate his attic floor - and also walls and ceiling - without any of his neighbors batting an eye.

So.Weed!
Been lurking, following your journal for a few days now and love the fact that you're a "thinking mans" grower. You've been looking at every aspect from every angle before making informed decisions.
Can't wait to start a grow using some of the info iIve picked up from you those who have posted to opine.

"Jesus tap-dancing christ" I thought I was the only one in the world that uses that regularly, but I'm in the south too.

Cheers mate!
