1st Grow, RainForest 318, 400W HID, Chronic Haze, Yumbolt47, California Dream

Very nice grow, DS. Your new screen looks way better than the netting you had on the last grow, and it looks like it's working the way it should. Now I'm going to try that next time I use the RF (which may not be until the Fall). Can't wait to see how the Aurora Nirvana smokes. Speaking of which, what's your final opinion of the Trainwreck? I've got some TW genes in the Kandy Kush I'm growing but I've never tried it.

ive got the RF sidelined for some buckets right now, really digging having the separate smaller rez to deal with. Might try and fit the rf in the grow tent for clones.... enjoying seeing what you guys come up with!

I'm looking forward to having a separate res myself. Meanwhile, changing the RF res tonite...

And I'm looking forward to see whether DS's scrog is going to tame the stretch. Looks like he's going to have plenty of headroom. I'll trade every sq. in. of my horizontal area for some height...
 
Yea no 12/12 yet. If those pics were after the stretch it would be just about right other than not having the screen full but still have to deal with that. I should be able to tame it but who knows there are a lot of tops. Yea wont have to worry about head room like the last grow, which the tw's out grew the room. My main concern here of course it just having a even canopy.
I am too excited to see how the aurora tokes as for the TW's a great strain to grow or cross with. It has been over 6 yrs or so since I toked the arcata cut but the ghs is still super tasty with a great high. Not sure what your kandy is crossed with but quarntee you will love it. Any kush is a ggod kush. I almost grew the BUKU but wanted a strain that stayed short. Everyone that tokes the tw's is amazed with it but I think that has to do with the RF since it adds such great resin to the product. Cant go wrong with aero.

Yea the seperate rez it what its all about. It sucks you cant clean the RF out while in use all you can do it just flush it. I need to add more water to rinse ait a bit when I do rez changes. I will post pics when the show gets on the way. Good luck u 2
 
The Kandy Kush is Trainwreck x OG Kush, so it's got great genes. I just wish it wasn't looking all bonsai at this point...

I'm getting ready for res change at lights on right now. I got 4 5-gallon water jugs, and I'm using 2 of them to mix up my flush water and FloraKleen, and the other 2 to mix up my initial nutes for after the flush-out. Finally got the pH of those 2 down to the 5.50s, now I'm adding in the nutes one by one in 15 minute intervals. Should make the changeover quicker.

I'd say your scrog is already a success, plant height-wise. You've got them low enough going into the stretch that there's plenty of room for whatever they do. I can't say the same. My Blueberry was 6" from the HID glass this morning at lights out, and the top little leaves are looking shocked at the situation. I'll be moving the reflector up the final 3 inches or so tonight, praying that the Blueberry is finally concentrating on making buds and not elevating. It certainly is kicking out the bud growth the last few days.
 
Oh yea that is going to be tasty.Is that what you do every change? I will be using the flora kleen next change on transition but then only pre harvest flush. I need to start rinsing the rez with ph balanced water. Subculture is tuff to get out of the rez it clings to everything. It does blow when dealing with height requirements, is you light universal or just horziontal mount?

Before now, I just refilled with pH-adjusted water and added the nutes after that. This way the plants won't be sitting there waiting for something to eat while I spend 2 hours adding nutes. It'll all be in there when I refill.

As for rinsing, I don't think pH matters. I'm just putting 5-10ml FloraKleen per gallon in some RO water (which I didn't need, but it came free with the bottles) and running it about an hour before draining and filling with nute water. Last time when I did that I actually put my hands into the res and very gently semi-massaged the roots with the FloraKleen water to see if it hurt anything, and it didn't. So I figure I might be knocking off some extra salts by doing that and I'll continue.
 
My water is 7.5 so if I rinse with that the roots are hanging out in it so figured no harm in bringing ph within range. I fill a 20 gallon trash can and mix all the nutes in that and transfer it right away so it is only empty for about 3-5 minutes max not that it matters but it makes it really easy.

I see what you're saying. I was just thinking that pH only affects the way the plants uptake nutes, so if there's no nutes to uptake it shouldn't make any difference to the plants. I just hate to waste stuff... :>)

Think I'll get another plastic trashcan and do it the way you do it. I've never used the pump to put water back in the res, just to empty it.

Thanks, SBH. Excuse the state of the thread right now, it's no longer about the title grow but a brainstorming session about current and future grows among the folks who subscribed earlier. A lot more relaxed than when I was trying to keep up with the posting twice a day with news. Please join in if you're inclined.
(Or even if you're standing straight up.) One thing I was going to ask about was that growing medium you're using. I can't tell from the pics what consistency it is. It frankly looks like caked up cocaina, but I'm betting it's light and fluffy in texture. Is it at all like Sure To Grow?
 
Ive recently finished my last grow in my rainforest 318 I grew 16 cinderella 99 man are they something incredible taste and smell like strong grapefruit nice high too I like aerophonic growing best of all join the bubble heads if you want probably the most informative litrature on aerophonics go to aerophonic supersonic this lady grower will introduce you to hydrogen peroxide how to use it safetly and increase your yields while keeping your plants healthy and pest free my root systems on the cinderella looked like sphagetti pure white about 16inches long because I live in an apartment I put my 318 in a rubber garbage can in case of spillage or leakage good job too I had to move it had17 gallon in it so I pulled it to another spot small leak in the 318 res but the garbage can caught the leakage good luck peace bro I know you have some good grows ahead

Hi, Harryo. Coincidentally, I just came from a Googling expedition on H2O2. I had read the article I think you're talking about over on Cannabis Culture's website. Just picked up a jug of 35% yesterday and will start using it next res change. I had just been dumping a couple ounces of 3% in every res change, but I'm not sure it did anything. Haven't had any algae or cloudiness problems yet. Actually I did have some cloudiness once last grow, but it went away after a couple of days. No idea what caused it.

I'm going to be changing nutes when I change the res this weekend. I picked up some Flora Nova Bloom and some Floralicious Plus, and I'm going with the GH Flora Nova Bloom schedule the rest of the grow. Picking up a garden hose today which I'm going to attach to the drain pump and run to my bathtub... Hauling buckets of res water is getting old. Also getting another 32-gal can to mix nutes in so I can pump it in instead of tipping 5-gallon water jugs and waiting for it to all gurgle out...

It would be something to consider, but I'm not going to use a separate res. I'm just going to use the extra container to mix up my res stuff before the change, and pump it in after I drain, flush, and drain. I.e. I'll be pumping from the can to the RF instead of what I've been doing, which is filling 5-gallon water jugs and mixing in them, then manually dumping them into the res. I'm just eliminating some of the manual labor. Eventually I'll have an efficient setup... :smokin:
