1st Grow: Blue Dream

OK let me see if I have this straight. First you get a tent and a light a call yourself a first time grower, who yielded more on a first grow then some seasoned growers do on a regular basis.
Then you find some bag seed and throw it into the ground and grow this monster of a plant that has a cola the size of a horse's...well not his mane.
The you have a NL that you treat like crap, bend and pull her, and the next day it's like she never even knew you touched her.
And for the grand finale you make this sushi cob that looked so delicious and it was like second nature to you.

OK Mr.Magoo, all I can do is tip my hat. You have pulled off what only a few have ever dreamed of doing. When you get over this "first time grow" I only hope you do a little better than what I have seen so far.

Thanks KingJoe! I’m curious about the NLA as well. Lol. Saw some pistols on her today. Hope she does well. Supposed to get a lot of rain coming up. May pull her under the porch so she can dry a bit so I can give her some bloom nutes.

With only harvesting the half that was ready, did you notice an increase in yield on what was left?

Curious to know the answer as well. I also read that giving more time by harvesting partially allow small buds to mature but isn't directly linked to increase of yield

Honestly I wouldn’t know if it really yielded more or not. The buds were very soft and now they are dense. The trichomes were clear and now they are cloudy. If the bud becoming more dense adds weight then I would say it helped with yield. It definitely is going to improve quality. Here is a pic of the rest of her after being cut.

Well gosh guys! I really appreciate that. I think I’ve just had more to work with than a lot of people do on their first grow. The ability to control humidity throughout was key I think. And being able to ask questions to all of you before acting saved me a lot of headache I believe. And I chose a good strain to start with I believe. As far as the outsider goes....she has been a real shocker. Totally neglected but wanting to live and grow on her own. Lol. Thanks for the compliments!

Environment is key to a good crop indoors. Without that you grow an ok crop

I lucked into a really nice dehumidifier for free. If it wasn’t for that then the struggles would have been real. Lol

Party Girl is definitely not gonna yield what Smurfette will. Party Girl came out the soil with the most vigor and held onto that through the majority of veg until Smurfette finally passed her. Party Girl had more tops but was significantly shorter that Smurfette. Party Girl had the lean going on from day 1. Not sure if this is ultimately what hurt her in the comparison. But the initial wet weight of Smurfette was somewhere around 570 grams while the initial wet weight of Party Girls sits at 355 grams! Here are a few pics of the biggest bud off of Smurfette. Not the longest but the heaviest for sure.

I always guesstimate 20% of wet but I hardly ever take dry weights. I'm more interested in filling jars fir my daughter's meds. The comparison grow was an exception as we were trying to compare allot of different factors so I did weigh that one.

Thanks Derby! Ive started moving them around in the fridge because I noticed some of the ones that went in there later are dryer than the ones that went in first. I thought maybe the different areas of the fridge are drying at different rates. So now I rotate them. Plus I’ve pulled out some bags with water on them. I think it’s coming from touching the back of the fridge.
