1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kindsoil

Re: 1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kind

Hey Neiko, thanks for stopping in, nice to see a new face every now and then. Just in time for the fun. My virgin breeding and cross breedings are starting and the big tent is starting to get hairy. Exciting times around the Stank house!!

Re: 1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kind

And that my friend is exactly why I am using your recipe..... Ultimate confidence in your soil. Still trying to collect all the Amendments as budget allows along with the build. Did you buy your Roots base organic soil online and have it shipped or was it from local supplier?

I have a grow shop about a mile from the house so I get most of my stuff there. They give me a nice 15% discount on most things I buy there. If I can't get it there, or its just crazy cheaper on amazon, I order it online. I would rather support a smaller local business than amazon when I can.

So far, the only thing I would change about the soil is I would try to find an additional amendment that will increase my pest resistance. Outside of that, I am completely happy thus far with the performance. Ms Stank and I just went upstairs to look at the girls for the first time today and I am blown away at how much they grew in a day. Will wait until tomorrow to post another set of pictures but very very happy with how the grow is progressing. Good times my friends, good times!!

I was thinking of building my own soil too but then i saw johnny grow that giant plant in the kind soil.. got me thinking i should try that first before i do my own thing. Hope i dont have problems with my light being too close when using the kind soil. Good to know, thanks man!

So you buy that roots organic stuff and add your own mix to it? The roots smells like some good soil!

Yeah I use the roots as my base, then add everything else to it. My Stank Soil is rocking it on its maiden voyage I have to admit. As for the KindSoil and the issue I had was mostly my own fault. I knew my lights were too close and I just didn't move it in time. Seemed like each time I was spraying the mites and doing that, I had to rush to get the plants back in for their lights out. Plus re doing my lights wasn't possible without someone else's help (due to my back and the small size of the tent for a dude my size) so I needed Ms Stanks help. I don't think it would have been an issue if I would have kept the light at its recommended distance. I think if you keep your light at the recommended distance, you will be fine. Also, if I wouldn't have wasted a month battling the mites, I would have her in the Scrog a month ago and I wouldn't have been dealing with the foot she grew in that month.

I really think KindSoil is a great way to wet your feet in an organic water only soil. For someone who is only doing a couple plants at time, I think its a great and fairly affordable way to grow. I knew I wanted to increase my number of plants and pot sizes so it was going to get costly. When I calculated it up, I found making my own would be a cheaper way. Now if my Stank Soil can produce the quality bud that KindSoil does is yet to be determined. I am going to give Johnny a 5 gallon bucket of my Stank Soil and have him give it a run and tell me how he likes it.

I'd have done a grow in the kindsoil too if it wasn't absolutely ridiculous for shipping it. Through both Amazon and from kindsoil themselves. I spoke to Phil Kind.....nice guy.....no plans on any sort of retail, or opening up it's borders to Canadian buyers. That's what lead me to Mr Stank and his mix.

Having issues with the green sand and the crab meal. Everything else has been earmarked for purchase. So how about my cook? Won't be able to give it 45 days in winter.....any ideas? Small batch in trash cans for my first mix? Can artificial lighting activate it the same way or does it NEED the sun?

Yeah I have no idea what he charges for shipping to our neighbors to the north. I know when I started tallying shipping within the USA for multiple runs a year and in bigger pots it was going to get too pricey for my liking which accelerated my journey into my own soil. I will reuse my soil with just small amounts of amendments as well.

As for cooking in the winter.....while I am not expert, I don't think its the sunlight itself that sparks the micro-organisms to do their thing. I would imagine that the cooking could take place indoors as long as its warm enough. Might want to ask that question in the Building a Soil thread brother.

Did you look on Amazon for the Greensand and Crab Meal?

No not yet, I was trying to Source everything in Canada as much as possible to save on shipping costs.

Yeah.... to get one bag of kind soil delivered to my door here , it was going to be close to $200 US . Good product or not, good luck with that!

I'll ask over there as well, thanks for all the great advice brother.

Re: 1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kind

I think it was gonna cost me $18 to ship it and i live a state over lol. Its cheaper getting from them directly then buying it off amazon. But i only need 10 lbs of it.
For sure but kind soil the company, does not ship to Canada. That's why they use Amazon..... It's the only reason that Phil told me they sell on Amazon.

I forget did you have that bout of mites while using the stuff with neem seed meal?

Maybe try karanja meal too. Not really sure of other amendments that would raise insect resistance.

Flower Day 7

Week 1 has come to a great end. Plants are definitely in the stretch and growing really well. ATF 2.1 is still recovering very nicely after her watering last night. I gave her a gallon of pH'd water with 1 Teaspoon Cal-Mag, 1 ml of Mammoth P and 1 Teaspoon of Azos. She is starting to gain back her darker green so we are well on our way to full recovery. Watered all the rest of the girls in the tent as well.

Decided to do a bit of an experiment this grow/flower to see how a couple supplements might affect things. I have two of my plants, ATF 2.2 and ATF 2.3 that are clones from the same mom, planted in the same soil, in the same size pots, under the same lights, and are roughly identical in size and number of 'tops'. So I want to test the effects of Mammoth P (which I have heard positive things about), a little extra Cal-Mag and maybe some BackStrap Molasses vs just growing in my Stank Soil with water only. Will any of those amendments increase either denseness, yield, potency, flavor or smell. Seems like a good controlled way to test and see how those things actually affect a grow.

Here are a couple DAY 1 pics of the tent, followed by DAY 7 pics taken a few minutes ago.

And here we are 7 days later. Next update will show the hairs which just started to show up today.

Breeding update Day 17

Things are rolling along well. The male is spewing pollen everywhere. At least 100 of the little spent flowers laying all over the tent floor. Now interesting thing I have noticed in the last two days is that the hairs on my flowers are already changing colors. They were all white 2 days ago when the pollen started exploding everywhere. In the last two days with all the pollen popping, the hairs have turned red. Is that the sign that pollination has occurred? I don't remember the white hairs turning red until the end of the flower cycle. Certainly didn't happen this early. Anyone with any experience in breeding, please feel free to chime in.

The pictures I took don't really show the color change that is so apparent with the naked eye. Will post additional pics and better pics of the hairs on the next update in two days. Without further delay, my little girl after my little boy finished round 2 of 'paint her face'.

It's just nugs everywhere over here stank that's gonna be quite the harvest! Gonna have to re thumb through your journal for this famous stank soil reciepe I hear so much about. The results speak for themselves

Re: 1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kind

Damn that scrog filled in great.. awesome job man! Thats a pretty sweet experiment to try out.. excited to see the differences between the two.

Thanks brother!!! Yeah I was kind of blown away when I looked at the 7 day growth. Even the plant that was droopy and yellowish/light green has really exploded with a high growth rate. One week down 7-10 more weeks to go.

Thanks Dabber! Not sure about famous but its definitely off to a great start on its maiden grow. Certainly seems like a great starting point for what I am looking for in a soil. Important test will be the next 2-3 months. I can repost the full recipe if you would like. I don't think the recipe is in this journal. Let me know and I will repost it.

Re: 1st Grow - Alaskan Thunderfuck x4 - Durban Poison - Blue Kush & Blueberry In Kind

Yes when the hairs turn dark and curl in, the pollen has made its way to the reproductive cells through the stigmas and they will be producing seeds up the arse for you

Thanks Growchy!! I figured with that extreme of a difference in appearance it had to be related to pollination. Good to know and love that the plants talk to us so much and tell us whats going on.
