126W Penetrator LED Full Bloom

We've got two independent tests in the works. These will unfold over the next months. One is Haight's LEDs vs Hydro Grow's LEDs; setting sun as growmeister. Another will be done at an official 420 Magazine test facility, LED vs HPS; McBudz as growmeister. Stay tuned ;)

I know I wish I could push the fast forward button; I'm dying to see the empirical results speak for themselves :surf:

I know McBudz and Im comfortable with him as thegrowmeister. GO B!!
I hope the LED works as represented.

SettingSun is also a great choice....Ive seen his stuff

are you growing dirt or hydro i am using leds in dirt and was wondering how ofton you water

Honestly I've never grown in dirt. I'm not the best person to answer this question, but a few people with lights on this forum are using dirt, so in a week or two maybe they could fill you in a bit better. ;)

I've found that leds require a higher ratio of perlite in my pro mix to keep them cycling reasonably efficiently. I am using 25-30% perlite and watering every 3 days or so. With straight pro mix plants cycled very slowly, too much water retention.

I'm only using 90w so perhaps higher wattage would help, as more light = more active plants.

I am interested in both tests.

Would like to see how the 2 sponsors do side by side and of course the biggie, LED vs HPS.

Are both the Haight and Hydro Grow units made in China? Or, are they assembled here?

The prices for both seem more like Made In The USA rather than a place where the average wage is 10 or 12 cents/hour.

I doubt that the wages of Chinese workers have anything to do with the price at this point.

No, at this point it's what the market will bear as far as price goes.

But, generally a Chinese made product will cost less than 25% of what a similar product USA made will cost.

That's why people love chinamart.:scratchinghead:

I'm really excited about LEDs, but prices need to make a dramatic down turn before I can afford to replace what I've got. Especially since I would need 5 or 6 units.:yikes:

Hey the Chineese aren't that bad,,,took them 13 hrs to get my lights to NA and it's now taken DHL 3 days to send my package to 5 different hubs except my front door...I'm sure I won't see the damn things till the middle of next week now! It's obvious the Chineese have shitty weed though! ...LOL

I would just hope that it's actually DHL who has your package. They are bad enough themselves but they have a contract with the US snail mail system to have them deliver some DHL packages.

It is my understanding that Haight manufacturers their own lights within the USA. I believe they also use Osram LED's.

We use Bridgelux and Semi LED's, which are both USA companies. We use high quality, Japanese cooling fans as well, however our units are manufactured in China.

Doing an actual dollar per watt comparison though, of say the PPF-400 and the 126W (both rated at 400W), the Haight light is about $5.25 per watt, and our light is about $3.20 per watt. With our Chinese made units, you get a 3 year warranty. With their US made units, you get a 1 year.

I've never had DHL show up lat. If anything, they are always on time, and here before any other carrier. I would give them a call since it is obvious there is something wrong if you have not received your light yet. Make sure to get your address, or whatever information they messed up on, corrected so your light gets delivered. The last thing I want to see is you waiting until next week because of their ignorance. ;)

:thankyou:

That cleared up several questions that I had and couldn't get information for. I like to know specific information like you provided rather than generalities, all, that most others provide.

just dont buy any pet food if you love your pets, or toys if you love your kids. . . o hell, you run a chance whenever you buy chinese crap. . . but they should be able to assemble american stuff without messing it up too much. i hope.

Yep, I sit online and post on forums instead of sitting in my garage with a for sale sign lol. Did you get a hold of DHL to figure out why the package wasn't delivered?

Anyhow, I've noticed no changes necessary since switching to LED, other than using less water overall. The temps can go higher without causing stress... and the plants grow healthier. If you're doing a side by side, you want to separate the light from the HID and LED though.

When I spoke to Ed 2.5 weeks ago, I was told that the plants were started, green cr*ck was the strain, it was a 4x4 grow area, and that I'd have update pictures in 2 weeks. I called on Monday and his secretary tells me he's in Amsterdam until the end of the month. I tried calling back again Tuesday, but she didn't have a response from Ed yet. I will try calling again tomorrow, but that's all I know right now.

DHL has good prices but they are by far the worst delivery organization in the world. I would recommend the other 2. UPS and FED-EX. Very reliable. DHL forgot to pick up my package one time and then tried to charge me for it lol. After 8 mistakes I couldn't afford to use them. Regular US Express Mail was soooo much better then DHL. Google "DHL Sucks".

We ship primarily UPS. Upon occasion DHL is used. The shipping agents overseas are the ones who make the determinations.

Thought I'd give you some updates, and up-close shots of the plants this time. You'll be able to see the remnants of the nute stress they underwent up until this past week.
