Another thing to consider is the "need" to supplement CO² with increased PPFD outputs. Anything above 800 supposedly starts pushing the plants to require a higher CO² % correct? Do you all supplement CO² at these higher amounts of light?
You do Baked, but 800 doesn't come close to constituting "higher amounts of light." My understanding was that the number is 1500 ppfd without CO2. I've gotten as close as 1350.

Good point! Not here. I've grown plenty of fine bud at 300 to 400 PAR before and am happy there. The only reason I like to keep high PAR ot the top is to give the lower bud more.

So nice of you to think of the little guys, Stone! :Rasta:

Ye
Just careful when you exceed over 60 DLI or over 1200ppfd during the flowering. SanLight did a comparison growth report with photoperiods and when going over 60 DLI flowers started to bleach. Bleached flowers yielded more but the quality may suffer.
That's the importance of a good canopy throughout the whole tent so a few buds don't sway the entire grow's health. A nice 800 PAR would be perfect but I can dream of a canopy so nice.

I don't use it at all.

Depends on the strain. My Titan is at around 1300 and the big tent is around 1350 ppfd. Depends a lot on the strain and the light you're using. My cutoff is 1400. Once I budded the Jelly Rancher (gorgeous plant with huge, dense buds) out at 1350 I learned they actually can take a TON more light than I thought. Others though, are very much not this way and don't like too much. Which is why I say depends on the strain.
Some will. Those few buds that got close last grow got 1900 PAR and didn't curl or bleach. They probably lost flavors I'd bet, but for the sake of the rest of the grow I let it go. For the many I cook the few a bit too much. They smoke just fine.

Haha, Eat the Rich comes to mind! :hookah: Yeah we lit the lamp! Happy 4:20

I get it!

What a great idea, 4:20!

I'm going to put myself on a 12/12 medication schedule. 4:20 each afternoon and morning. I'm going to set my alarm clock now! Mrs. GDB won't be happy about the alarm going off everyday at 4am. In fact, she would be very much quite the opposite of happy to an extreme degree. Nevermind.

Getting 1300ppfd on hot spots is kinda different thing than let's say 1200ppfd for 1x1 foot print, about 1000 for 2x2 are etc. so the picked PPFD value is an average.
For example in this SanLight comparison growth they used 7x4x7 tent and all the lights were carefully positioned ensuring there wasn't more than 300ppfd difference. So an average 1200 ppfd would be then 900-1500ppfd and thats about 65-67 DLI then.

But ye theyre numbers and test results. There are, of course many variables that can really make a big difference. Like for an example the strain as you said.

Bleaches or not I just wanted to give a heads up if SO at any time intends to grill them in over 60 DLI. :)

That's exactly it, @StoneOtter. What's the worst that's going to happen, you get a little bleaching on a bud or two, and maybe overcook the flavor/smell out a bit on those couple buds? Big deal. I would bet that if those buds were at 1900 (by the way - WHHHOOOOOAAAAA, 1900!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no curling or bleaching? That's INCREDIBLE) the rest of the plant was very much way over 800. And I would also bet she yielded well. Yeah we lit the lamp - I love it!

Way back in the day we had a radio station, wbcn. At 4:20 pm every day they would ceremonially light the lamp to kick off the "better" portion of the day.

Anything over consistent ~1000ppfd for over 1x1 area is A LOT. Doesn't feel like that much in 2022 with all these powerful leds, innit?

When everyone used HPS and/or CMH's 400W bulb gave like an average of 500-700ppfd and 600W was something close to 800umol/m2/s on hotspots. And a very great weed all over the world has been grown with typical 400W HPS.

HPS bulbs could provide more luxes than LED light, but lower PPFD was achieved because of the more narrow spectrum.

Lovely historical summary there SO, and you're absolutely right. I love technology.

UPDATE

Good day folks! Checking on them today you see righty is either not liking the root slicing or has drunk her water. I gave them all top water today. Day 3 from transplant. I'll go back and have a look any minute now and see which! They both look good!
But wait there's more! The Candida's have finally come to grow strong!

Ooo, green trays, I dig them. So by Righty you're referring to both right side plants, yes? Because they are droopy compared to Lefties? Given the proximity to your root pruning and the up potting and the watering schedule, I wouldn't have been surprised to see Lefties and Righties both drooping a little. Ie, it looks like you're actually ahead of the game!!! And wow, the Candida's are done messing around it looks like.

I actually wasn't but you saw them both thirsty. I just went down and checked on them. The two you see on the right drooping came back to praying like you read about! The other two showed no change. All 4 look picture perfect now. Tomorrow I'll water them all to runoff, watering around the edge of the pots. That should set up a 3 day schedule for a little while, we'll see.

I forgot to mention the bark mulch. it got thrown down the day after they got potted up. I ran out of gas that day.

Tomorrow get's to be insect frass and bokashi day! :woohoo:

The transplants are looking tremendous but I'm particularly thrilled to see the Candidas right the ship!
Me to Shed! They look like they're greening up nicely and getting strong limbs! The newest leaf sets seem to be all green now. I'm really looking forward to putting them both out now! Cha cha cha changes!
I'm listening to country Joe and the Fish do On the Road Again right now. No I'm not in an elevator! ;)
