Xlr8's Quest For The Best - 2012

Just as reference, if you were to buy 1gal of AN sensi bloom A&B, it's about $80 online. BPN 2-part is $35.00. I just ordered seaweed, VitaBlue, and Part B and a qt of ph UP from BPN. Can't wait to add the vitablue and seaweed.

Yes, such a good point that I try to make often as well. Corey posts all over these forums, helping people out and often saving their grows. No other nutrient company provides this level of service that I'm aware of. The products are capable of growing really nice plants, and some of the best growers here will attest to that. But, even if those things weren't enough, you just can't find good nutrients and additives that really work... anywhere close to the prices he has! Compared to other quality nutrients, the price is really tough to beat. Same goes for the newer additive products - insanely good value!

It's worth noting that Corey has stated elsewhere on the site here that he may have to raise those prices at some point when he expands in to retail settings a bit more, but he's also said that he'll continue to offer lower prices to his loyal customers here for their help in growing his brand. Right now, he's skipping the middleman and we're able to get, essentially, wholesale pricing. Freaking cool beans, in my opinion!

I've been using the VitaBlue and Seaweed for about a week now - so far so good!! The plants have responded very positively to having these in the mix - I swear they started to increase swelling and frosting up almost immediately, but some of that was probably the stage in bloom, too. Both products look and smell very rich and substantive, and the list of ingredients in each really is impressive.

Last week I bought out all they had. Anyone need a really cool Digital LCD Temp/Humidity display? I got em fer $8 each PLUS SHIPPING!

 I sure hope that you are joking! :)

GRRR8888T photos X... I can't wait. Yours are at 27 days, mine are at 8. I look at yours and know I've got similar coming. :yahoo:

About the injections you've had...

I don't want to bring up bad vibes, but have you been paying attention to the news? About the fungal meningitis? Now they are saying that same company produced other drugs...one given during heart surgery, and another for pain injections.

Anyone who gets injections for pain may want to check into this a little...for you own health reasons.

Love the pics...keep 'em coming

:peace:

Sq

Hey Sqwheels!

Thanks for the compliments on the photos - it's pretty exciting when they get to this point for sure, and I can't wait to see yours (especially that really pretty Wonder Woman) get to this point and beyond as well.

No bad vibes, just good old healthy concern, and I appreciate it. I've been paying attention (and continue to) and at this point it doesn't look like my medical provider got their shots from the compounding center in question. However, this story seems to keep updating and more concerning info is coming out every day, so I will continue to follow it. What really is disappointing in this story, beyond the poor controls at the compounding center that makes these shots, is the poor vetting that has taken place by the clinics that purchase them. It turns out, they were selling directly to doctors and clinics in many cases, and weren't even licensed to do so. Instead of vetting them and ensuring that they were licensed, many clinics/dr's offices took the good deals and ASSUMED that they had proper licensing. Yikes! :yikes:

Thanks for the kind words and looking after me! :thanks:

Hey Xlr8 the gals are looking fandiggitytastic!! You are very good at what you do, in many ways. Thanks for all your help in my thread and am sorry you are not doing well. I have been really down past couple days, pain wise, due to the beginning of the rainy season here....nother bummer to that I had a perfect 23% RH now I cant get it down past 56% and I have two dehus, at least the room a/c versions with dehus on them. You have any good advice? I am on a budget and the only ones I have seen around $100, my budget, do not seem like they would fit the bill.

:peace:

:)

Hi Shizz!

I know what you mean about rainy weather causing increased pain -- same happens to me all the time. I dread rainy weather big time. Real, decent dehumidifiers tend to be pretty pricey. I have one, and it's a good investment. I put it outside my grow space, near where the intake pulls air from, and it helps a lot. I'm assuming you're asking about reducing humidity for the benefit of your plants...

I like humidity to be 40-70% in veg, and under 50% in bloom. The important thing is to keep it under 60% in bloom. 30-40% in bloom would be excellent. It's tough to keep it under 40% once they're in full bloom, as they add a lot of humidity to the space. I'm happy if I'm able to stay anywhere under 50% in bloom, personally.

The best thing you can do to remove humidity cheaper? Put more fans in the space. Just plain old household circulating fans. Fans remove a lot of humidity very cheaply. Put some up higher level on the plants, and some down below blowing up, etc.

The less expensive dehumidification solutions aren't very efficient in larger spaces, but there are some affordable solutions for smaller spaces. On the cheaper end, is a product called "Damp Rid". It comes in small buckets and removes moisture from the air, lowering humidity. It does help some, but is pretty ineffective in larger spaces. Basically there is some material in the bucket that absorbs moisture. Eventually it turns soupy and is done. Another product for smaller grow spaces/rooms/closets is a petite dehumidifier like this, by Eva Dry:

eva_dry_petite.jpg

I have this and use it to aid in removing humidity from time to time. It's 35$-40$ or so, and available online through Am@zon, T@rget, etc. Just go0gle, "Eva Dry petite dehumidifier". Again, not very good for large spaces, but can help in a closet, etc. Only about 10-12" tall or so. I like it ass an additional weapon in the arsenal. There are other products too, but these are the ones I'm most familiar with. I'd start with adding more oscillating, household style fans. Hope some of this info helps!

and they saw we are being paranoid when we question whats in their needles!! now what!?

Hi BID!

Yes, we have a bad habit of being paranoid. I suggest we should have complete trust in our good friends from the pharmaceutical industry. They always have our best interests in mind, and certainly aren't motivated by greed. In fact, let's give them tax cuts, and reduce regulations so they can bring their life saving products to market faster - then we can all benefit from their unselfishness and altruistic motives, living happier and healthier as a result. Everyone wins!

Sarcasm, it's not just for breakfast anymore!

Well, there is a downside to making your own crosses and working with genetics that are imperfect to begin with...

OG Kush is really special stuff - and a big part of that magic is the Chemdawg genetics in it. It's in any strain relating to OG Kush, and the Deadhead OG is one of these. Well, Chemdawg is both special and imperfect. The origins trace back to a bag of pot purchased at a Grateful Dead concert (hence names like Deadhead OG). The person who bought this bag at the Dead concert knew it was special, and was a grower/breeder himself, and worked to preserve the magic he found in that bag. Problem was, it had hermie tendencies that were never really able to be bred out completely. Still, OG Kush is the best of the best, and in my opinion every bit as good as it's reputation. Without getting longer winded, there is a risk of breeding or growing anything with Chemdawg in it - and that risk is further amplified when working with sativas/hazes, which are also much more prone to hermaphroditism as well.

Having said all that, one of my Deadhead Rippers has gone hermie on me. It's a risk I was well aware of, and was willing to take. The good news is the other Deadhead Ripper, and the OG Ripper both look fine, and I see no signs of hermaphroditism in them. I'll be pulling "Debbie" the offending Deadhead Ripper from the grow. She has nanners everywhere, seemingly overnight.

Am I upset? Not really, again - I was aware of this risk. Also, I have grown enough plants to know that the other plants often benefit enough from the new space gained to take up a lot of slack in the yield department. Not only that, since I only grow for me - I don't need a lot of yield. So... 'tsall good! :rip:

Here's one of the many male "nanners". Can you spot it? Hint, it's right smack in the middle of this photo:

oct_19_8.jpg

On a brighter note: the OG Ripper is really looking beautiful. Also, the other Deadhead Ripper was definitely the nicer looking of the two Deadhead Rippers, and is as frosty at this stage as anything I've grown. I was not liking the one that went hermie much anyway, it wasn't nearly as frosty, and wasn't as nice of a looking plant overall. I'm relieved that the better looking of the two seems to be fine!

Onward and upward!

Tip on storing your bud! <snip>

Part of why I'm bringing it up today, is that I just became aware that a member and sponsor here (JJ Bones) has them available in his store. Not sure if he has the 62% packets in all sizes yet, but I see he has the larger size packets, which might be ideal for larger jars/storage needs (so far I've only used the smaller ones - I use 2-3 small packets per quart sized mason jar). Anyway, thought I'd pass on a link for anybody interested in them and looking for a good resource:

Boveda Humidipak 62% - 4 pack

Brill, thanks for this my darling. I've been looking around myself after FC suggested the same thing to me.

:thanks:

There's a big, huge site named after a rainforest and river in south america. I can't mention the name or post links to it from here, but it rhymes with shmam-shmazon. Anyway I found the 62% packs there for cheap-cheap-cheap from micro, up to mega.

I'm just sayin....

Did you do anything with her? looking at that resin production I think I'd extract some oil for the heck of it...I think that's what Debbie would have wanted... :)

Speaking of onward and upward - a few new pics!

Deadhead Ripper - this one is all female baby!
oct_19_9.jpg

I love how frosty she is... everywhere. Even the fan leaves are frosty!

OG Ripper - she is starting to develop nice spear shaped buds, a trait of OG Kush (not so much a trait of Jack the Ripper dad):

Jack the Ripper - my coco coir plant. JTR is almost pure haze, and really a late "bloomer". She tends to bulk up much later than most plants I've grown, and flowers in stages like many sativas... Not as big of buds as the others yet:

Hi Jandre!

Yes, another good resource. I have them available for cheap locally, so I often buy them almost literally down the street. :)

Hey Vapedogg!

I actually haven't dealt with Debbie yet, but I will be doing so very soon. Still undecided on what to do with her, but that's an excellent idea as she is pretty resinous. :thumb:

Hard to tell from the pics but her sister is pumping out (seemingly) twice as much resin - can you say... YAHOO!! :yahoo:

I'm located in Canada as well and was wondering the same thing.
Maybe I'll contact Cory and see if there is a way we can get our hands on some BPM nutage!

I think I've shared this before, but the guy at the local store turned me on to them (the micro-sized humidipaks) in the first place. I asked him how many he recommended for a quart sized mason jar, and he said, "two or three" and I said, "Okay, I'll take 24 of them" (or something close to that number). The look on his face was priceless!

Cool, I'm always interested in homeopathic things that help with spasms and nerve pain, if you have any good tips! I'm with you that I don't trust the system that works with greased palms, greed and toxic chemicals. You want to know scary? I wouldn't wish anti-depressants on my worst enemy. They don't tell you how incredibly addictive they are - nearly impossible to get off of. The down sides are absolutely terrifying, and the withdrawel is a nightmare.

The worst part? "Ask your doctor for free samples today". By the time you are done with your free samples, you'll go through absolute hell EVER getting off of them. More and more research has concluded there isn't proven benefit from taking them at all, and boy are they poison. The free sample thing should be illegal, and it's a goal of mine to help make that happen someday.
