Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

What OG said, I posted something similar in your journal sort of explaining the npk thing. :thanks: OG13

I'm thinking of starting an OG kush seed I got as a freebie. It was my first freebie and haven't thought about it much but your comment about it being one of your favorites has made want to try it for my next mom. How tall does it normally get indoors? I'm in a bloombox so height is always an issue unfortunately.

And as somebody very much still learning to grow, I wouldn't want to be talking to anybody but the people Iv found on this sight. After watching the news I can come on here and read the ideas and love being shared and have my faith in humanity restored.

Hi Foghorn!

OG Kush is (at least the one I grew) really bomb medicine. I can only base what I think off of that one plant and what ive observed from others but, it was a really pretty plant (turned fall colors with burgundies at the end), it was a terrible yielder with small buds, but I've heard "super cropping" helps that with OG (I did some, but should have done more...)

Youll need to keep any mom trimmed and clipped to a manageable size for your box, so size won't matter until you flower the clones of it, but when you do, I think it will be manageable, personally.

It is a connoisseur plant though in other ways, too. It hermies easy, it isn't mistake friendly, and requires some work for yield. Its reward is sweet, however. Make sure you have things dialed in really well before jumping into a slightly trickier strain like OG.

The best fit I found for the BCNL box I had was probably "Snow White" by Nirvana. But most 8 week or so mostly indica hybrids should work pretty well, too, look for height descriptions that say "short" up to "medium height". Some breeders descriptions will say if it's easy or hard to grow, and if it's indoor friendly, or pest/disease resistant. Any "indoor friendly" short to medium height plant is worth considering, IMO.

I find this site restores my faith in humanity often... :)

Ya, that sound like something I need to work up to. I certainly haven't reached connoisseur status yet. I honestly don't even consider my self a grower. I'm a guy with a bloombox. Give me a plane and now I'm a guy with a plane, still not a pilot. Iv read some other journals that had positive reviews on snow white. I think a few people chimed in on here even. I definatly need something beginner friendly. Preferably idiot proof.

Iv been going through Attitude Seeds with good results. Iv only done it twice though. I'm thinking about trying some of the sponsors. Just to give a little back.

I can't wait to see your pineapple haze. Have you started yet?

X! I hope you don't mind...

But FogHorn! I'd really like to suggest Pineapple Express from G-13. Great medicine, doesn't require much, stays pretty small too. The absolute best part is how fast she flowers... Nearly to quick to have problems.

However... X, you now have me a little scared of my Tahoe OG! She hasn't been "tricky" with me yet... But if she flowers into autumn colors... Hello PoTM! ;)

I'm sorry to barge in the thread like this but I'm freaking out! my leaves are losing color and turning yellow. The whole leaf is losing its color at once. Not from the tips in. It started on the bottom and is working up. I looked in the pest and problems section of this sight and I thought I had a confident diagnoses of nitro definciancy. I had been running 3/4 strength nutes so I remixed to full. I thought it was reversing but I just got home and it's worse! It been going on three days today, iv lost a lot of leaves. It's getting closer to my bud! I came to this thread because I know there is literally hundreds of years experience between all you guys, somebody tell me what to do! :(

Foghorn, it almost sounds like you have nute burn or pH problem, and the first thing that made me thought that is the fact that when you mixed full strength nutes it made it worse. In order to really help you, the OG's on the site need some more info. Whats tge medium pH, are you growing in soil or not. What is the type, size and distance of the lighting, type and amount of ventilation if any, and finally temps, day and night, relative humidity min/max feeding schedule and probably some pictures would help. Do not panic, the great folks here can help. The best thing to do is get some info up here and wait for the years of info to pour right in. It is very hard to diagnose any kind of problem, plant or otherwise with so few details. Keep your chin up and at least get some pics on here amd lets see what all these great people can do. Good luck, I will help if I can.
Shizzy

:peace:

PS when pH becomes a problem it can lock many nutrients from being available to your plants root system, did you check after mixing nutes? As they will lower pH rapidly and drastically. They will bounce, again holler if I can help! Xlr8, just trying to help, hope my response was appropriate.

Thank you do much for the prompt response. I'm growing in bloom box made by BC northern lights. It's a two part cab, veg and flower DWC system. The flower side has a 400w HPS with two, 2ft t-5's underneath the plant. It's a nine pot system but I only had one female, so she's alone. It has co2 injection. The highest the temp has ever gotten in the room is 84, and interior temps run about 7 to 10 degrees higher. The light chamber is exhausted to the attic using whatever fan they use, idk. It's a big ass CPU style fan. It usually stays 70 to 77 ambient most of the time. That 84 was a spike. It's been UBT'd (topped forfour main stems) and very poorly scrog'd. today is 28 of flower. The box is about 36 inches from the top of the net to the glass. It's in rockwool. The ph has been rising, but slowly. I balance it twice daily to 5.6 or close, and it goes up to 6.5 or 6.8 after 12 hours. I work 12 hr shifts so I check it like clock work. I use ice cubes w 2 drops of ph down in them to top it off, cool it down for increased DO, and lower the ph. That couldn't do it could it? Sorry I didn't list all that before. I can't do pics right now, my girl takes MY computer to work with her, who also works 12's. So I won't get untill tues. I'm on my phone right now. Here's the pics I have saved of just the set up. Not the leaves. It's exactly the losing of color described for N deficiabcy, but idk.

Oh, the nutes are made by plant life. And I added 23ml cal mag per label. It's a 23L resevoir. And aqua shield organic 60ml. 46ml of bud boom, carbo blast, and super b+. 115ml of common and flower.

The humidity is 42%. It kills me that I can't send you pics.

Sorry for junking up your thread like this X. There is literally nobody in the real in the real world I can reach except the hydro store guy kinda, and their closed on Sunday's! Thanks again!

I do know also in late flowering that plants naturally become deficient in nitrogen, which is a condition that is going to occur due to plant processes. As I am a young grower myself, not age but in solo attempts, I have offered up the extent of my knowledge. I do think however that without proper pictures it may be difficult for a veteran to help you, but am not sure. Stick around I am going to take your description as best I can remember and see if I can find some links for you that may help. Sorry I could not be a greater service, but I am sure someone else will be along shortly.

:peace:

Lets move the discussion to your thread and post a link to it so others may help!

Thanks Shnizz. Just hearing a response has calmed me down. And I also left a better more complete post on your advise. I wish I had pics. If you read the N deficiancy descreption in this sight, it's just like that. No curling. Just no green color. Starting from the bottom. And it getting scary high. And it's only the first day of week four. That's day 21, crap, i think I said 28 before.

So how do I add nitrogen to a hydro set up. All the stuff on google says add fish and stuff. But that's for soil. I'm ready blend up a fish at this point and put in the resevoir, I dont care, I'm desperate.

hey foghorn, got any veg nutes left? Usually they have higher N than flower, also cut back on the bud boost and carbs, see if the green returns.

What OG said, I posted something similar in your journal sort of explaining the npk thing. :thanks: OG13

I think we got some proposed fixes/ideas going in Foghorns thread. I hope you get it worked out Foghorn - hang in there buddy!

Oh, and thank you Shizznizzle and OG13 for helping Foghorn out. :bravo:

X!!!!!
How are you my friend?
Feelling better I hope

I'm doing okay - not the best, but okay. Pretty good today. I've been really limited in how much time I have for the site here lately, so I'm sorry I haven't dropped by your thread in a bit. I need to see how your new rooms are coming along! :)

Single Seed Center has been good for me. I've also heard good things about Herbies and Castle, so I don't think you can go wrong with the sponsors. I have 2 Pineapple Express moms at the moment, and a cutting from one of them in the flower tent. Mine are the regular version (I believe from G13 Labs), which I think are different genetics from the autoflower version from Barneys that you have. I'm sure the auto is great, though, as Barneys has some really nice strains IMO.

I grew several Snow Whites in the BCNL grow box I had, and they were all really fun and resilient to grow. One of them turned a pretty purple. 420fied, a really respected grower here, has grown hundreds of Snow Whites (it's all he's been growing for a while now last time I checked) and has gotten a few others excited about it, too. I just happened upon it as it was supposed to stay short/med height and be forgiving to grow, with a nice mix of sativa/indica. It's a relative of White Widow, and has some really nice genetics in it.

Great suggestion on the G13 Pineapple Express. I am just growing it for the first time, so I wasn't sure as far as recommending it - but I'd bet it is a good one. :)

Well the OG strains have Chemdog in it, which is clone only, known to have hermie tendencies and is a base for strains like OG Kush, NY Diesel, Bubba Kush... (to name a few). Having said that, the variants of OG like Tahoe, Deadhead, etc. are probably going to be more cooperative as they have a little more breeding work in them to try to limit that some, improve yield and vigor etc. Still, there is always a chance of a hermie with Chemdog in the genes. I believe Tahoe is supposed to be a pretty decent strain to grow. Deadhead seems a little spottier, but I may have gotten lucky - though, mine likes to pop a couple of nanners right at the very end. The last round, I only found two and they were really "fresh" and didn't appear until around week 8. Doesn't keep it from being exceptional medicine though, and nanners that late won't seed things, anyway. :)

Interestingly, the Deadhead OG Kush that I've got was absolutely nothing like the OG Kush that I grew. Flavor, buds, leaves were all different. The only similarity was the a little bit similar in the general coloring of the buds. It does want a little of that late burgundy color, but not like the OG Kush. I kinda expect that Tahoe might be quite different yet from either one, but I'm not sure. I can't wait to see what your Tahoe looks like and hear you feedback on it. :)

Hey X!
It's been a long while, but I'll try to get back in the loop.
I'm sorry to hear your under the weather and have a little stress. But, I'm glad to hear today is a little better, and Chocolope is helping.
Those are some exceptionally frosty nugs! For not going for yield, that is a very healthy harvest. 3z a plant? Wow! I think the most I've gotten was about 2 1/2z from 1 plant. How big were these?
It's so nice to see so many people helping others on this site. I think it's the positive attitude that has made 420 grow so much.
XLent work, friend!
Best wishes and positive vibes to ya!:Namaste:

:thankyou: :tricome, great to see you around!

I think I could do much better, but I was happy for sure. They were probably 30" tall, but I honestly didn't measure. The SLH really stretched on me. My best so far was around 6z, I've had a couple over 5z. I've seen plants grown indoors over 2lbs dry! Mr smith grew a monster a few months back that dwarfed anything I've grown. :). It's all about the wattage of light you can throw at 'em - I wish I had more!

Quick Drive bye,,,,,,,,, didn't see any newer bud porn. Hope it's growing great Xlr. Keepem Green

Not sure if you saw these from a couple of days ago... Stuff gets buried fast sometimes. :)

Your outdoor grows this year have been phenomenal as always brother! :thumb:

Thought I'd post a few pics of some nugs from my most recent harvest.... :)

Mr. Smith is in a class all by himself, brother.....we can only wish! :cheesygrinsmiley:

X, my friend, just want to send you a little love. I know I've been scarse, but I think of you and the old man often, as well as the rest of the family(420 Mag Fam). I really really hope you have been feeling well lately, (Seems I read that maybe you haven't). Sending you some healing vibes, in hopes that you find some relief, Brother:Namaste:

Quixter! Thanks man, you are a class act. I've been feeling kinda... eh. But, I'm trying to keep it from affecting me so much. Lots of discouraging news from docs, but I'm getting used to it now and trying to let it energize me not deflate me. I've been so busy, I barely get of my own journal sometimes, but I sure miss seeing you around - thanks for dropping by!!

:high-five:
