Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Great looking nug shots there Brother! That JTR looks really similar to my JillyBean, must be a Subcool thing lol.
Really glad to see you're feeling a little better my friend, makes me happy actually:)
Gald you've been enjoying time with the Fam, too, it's always good:high-five:
:peace:

Thanks Quix -

This Jack the Ripper pheno is said to "bulk up late" or something like that, and I can see what they mean. It's really, finally, adding weight these last few days, but a lot of it seems more like what I consider foxtailing normally. An explosion of new pistils over the past week, it's weird. I'm not surprised though, as I've seen this in pics of JTR quite a bit (foxtail look). Part of it is the Sativa influences I think. Any of that on your Jilly Bean? Maybe they share genetics down the road somewhere, like a common Cindy99 in the lineage or something...

Family's great, but in doses! ;)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

OK! I'm way at the end of the line here, but like everyone else has said " Great pictures of Bud Porn!" :high-five:

Aloha OMM!

End of line or not, I just appreciate you dropping by. :high-five:

I tried a sample Deadhead OG bud today... All I can say is WooHOO. It's really good stuff, though I almost vaped too much and got uncomfortable, lol. The high was first rate, and strong... as I have quite the tolerance built up these days.

It was quick-dried, so I'm not sure how the flavor will be yet, but I'm liking the high a lot. Sure was fun to try something different again, too. :)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Reps man, you and Mr Smith's journals have convinced me to give Hydro a try. Beautiful garden and setup.

Thank you Mr White!

Mr Smith is a much more knowledgeable and accomplished grower than I, but the sentiment is appreciated greatly. :thankyou:

If I can ever help in any way please let me know - good luck, and start a journal and share with us when you do it. :)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Xlr8, your girls look really nice and frosty. Sunds like the Deadhead is some good quality smoke. :welldone:
Oh yeah!! Loved my sample, was first time in long time that I was almost uncomfortably high though. But rode it out and enjoyed it. :)

First thing I've been able to discern is that sounds were clearer like hearing was enhanced, or just noticing subtle sound details more...

Oh, and thanks for the props on the gals!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Hehehe, I like being right on that edge of too much... I notice little sounds MUCH more and music is more enjoyable. Watch Fantasia, it's FAN-FRIKKIN-TASTIC when you get too much... and it lasts long enough to keep you distracted through the uncomfortable bits.

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Update on the gals in bloom... Getting closer! :)

I'm getting near the end of week 8 since switching to bloom lighting cycle. I checked trich's for the first time today, and the Deadhead is looking really close to ready. The trichs on the JTR looked close, too, which surprised me some because it doesn't seem as close as the trichs suggest - though it is supposed to be an 8-9 week strain. The OG is really poorly developed, bud-wise, but the trichs are mostly milky there too, with a little ambering. Will be harvesting fairly soon, at least the Deadhead...

A few bonus pics - happened to be working near the plants when lights went off, and took a few pictures without the HPS lighting making everything look so red/yellow:

Ahaha! I can believe that WOULD be great - I've actually thought of that before but never tried it. Don't think we have the movie though. How's your Plushberry doing? Was just by that thread and it hadn't been updated in a while, was just curious. I can't wait to see that one flower. :)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Wowser, looking very good X, Just what are you looking for to know when to pull them anyway. I have read some on the subject but I'd like to hear your twist on the subject

I look at trich colors - for me about 25% amber, mostly milky is my goal. However, some plants just don't follow the color plan with the trichs, so this shouldn't be a "be all end all" in my opinion. Even Cervantes is conceding this now. So... I also look for the size and swelling of the pistils as well as how many are dead/dying - and are they receding into the false seedpod? When the calyx is swollen, and the pistil recedes into the false seedpod, that is a big sign of final ripeness.

Also, where am I in relation to the target date from the breeder, and what other people have noticed when growing the strain? There is a lot of data out there on some strains.

After a few grows, you can really tell a lot just by looking at the calyx's and the way the buds are swollen, but that takes some experience to get down. Finally, when they are close like this, I take samples - sometimes daily, to see if I like the effect. Smell/taste, can't be determined without a proper dry and cure, but the effect of the high can, to a large extent. I expect the Deadhead to be ready in a week or so, not quite sure on the others, yet, as the signs aren't as clear with them yet.

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign...

I'm late! But at least I'm here now. I love your plants. They are looking like they are almost ready, I love them at this stage. Keep up the great grows!

You got that coffee ready ?

Hell yeah! Care for a cannabis pastry with the coffee? By the way, you really have an amazing garden, Casa Verde. :thumb:
