Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I wanna come back on those 400 watts , think the 400's have a better light spectrum than 600's anything above 600 without co2 can get easily overkill .

I think 600 watt on a m2 is more than enough .
I'm always scared with anyting above 600 , plants seem to have troubles with evaporate so they start evaporating from the inside and create budrot .

What your opinion on that >?

Hi Casa Verde -

I've never used a 1000w lamp, so I don't really have an opinion on that, but you have an interesting theory!

I do know when it comes to bud size, nutrients play a small role, and light plays a very large role. The quickest path to bigger buds is always more light, but that can be a 400w or 600w with a well managed canopy, too. I've never been blessed with much space, so 400w lamps have always been what's worked best for me. I'd like to have a 600w or two, but I don't have the money or space at the moment. Appreciate you dropping by!

Note for everyone else: For anyone who hasn't seen Casa Verde's journal, check it out and prepare to have your minds BLOWN! Talk about a "Sea of Green". Also, some of the most beautiful purple flowers that you'll ever see. :bravo: Casa Verde!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

It took a while but I am caught up. THe knowledge being shared here is fantastic. I am like a sponge soaking it all up.

:thankyou: my friend!! I still have so much to learn, personally, but I soak it up from the many great growers on this site, too.

I'm so blessed to have a lot of knowledgeable folks like yourself hangin' here on a regular basis. Your Smellyberry is some beautiful stuff - I'd love to have some of that in bloom right now. :high-five:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Things are looking good in the bloom tent. Size of buds is a little small for what I'm used to at this stage, but I was prepared for that to some extent. Several factors could be in play here, including the Sativa influences, strains known to be lighter yielding, and the way I bushed them out so much. I also adjusted the lighting schedule to 11/13 as a way to try to coax more sativa tendencies from them, but that could be leading to slightly smaller bud sizes, too. My guess, is they will bulk up a bunch at the end, and I know at least one of the strains is known to be a late "bulker". Plus, they still have roughly 4 weeks left - plenty of time to add bud mass.

Having said all that, in person these are beautiful plants, and very healthy still. If the bud sizes seem small to me at this stage, resin production is certainly NOT lacking, as these are really frosted up. The OG Kush looks like it might get some nice color soon, too.

Jack the Ripper has several leaves with small buds on her like that - crazy huh? Yup, she's living the high life... til I grind her up and vaporize her! :yummy:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Ugh. I've been dealing with family stuff that's taking much of my time - combined with some computer issues, and just being worn out... I'm way behind on peoples threads. Sorry if I've not been around, I'll try to get caught up as soon as I can! :)

Now, time for a great big vaporizor hit of Lavender. :bong:

I wasn't really crazy about Lavender at first, but it's grown on me a bunch. Anybody remember the staggered harvest? The buds that were harvested 2 weeks earlier (at 8 weeks) were by far the best, in my opinion - stronger, better high and less couchlock. The Lavender buds harvested at 10 weeks put me to SLEEP. Sometimes I want that though, so those still have a place for me. I've been breaking off chunks of one of those buds that were near pop-can sized prior to drying, and it cured soooo nicely. YUMMY. :yummy:

In all truth, X and I have been buddies for a long time, so I just hang around.....but I do pickup things I can use. :thumb:

Yes we have - I value our friendship more than you probably know, OMM. You've been there for me through some pretty stressful times, and it really meant a lot to me. :thankyou:

I think Alaskan1 was making a "hydro" pun out of you saying you were "soaking things up", OMM. I must confess, it took me a minute, but then I got a good giggle out of it! :biglaugh::rofl:

Yes, once again I was trying to be funny :)

Though my wife is always telling me I'm not very funny lol
