Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures & Photos From The Garden - 2012

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

...under your plants i c them black wires are you using scrog or just lst, method, ive read that many journals its hard to remember it all, im thinking lst with mine if i ger more than 1 fem but if i only get 1 fem ill try scrog method, is their anyone who could advise me on purple strains im picking my berry bomb seeds up tomorrow n the picture of the buds when you search using google are amazing just wondered if its only down to the night time temps been low, ill be happy what ever but if i can bring the color out ill be even more chuffed, i just hope mine go as well as yours are, plus the more i grow the more mistakes ill make and the more experience that will give me,

but so far X yours a lookin amazing, well done mate

I have some nylon string/rope netting that I'm using to help with LST, but it's not really a SCROG. I'd like to try a scrog eventually, but this was just to aid in the training, and it does help that way. The spacing on this particular netting is too big for a scrog. I don't have much experience with purps or inducing purple. Jandre2k3 is doing an interesting test right now in his journal. I tried reducing night-time temps on my Lavender, but it didn't seem to do much, and my wife lost patience with the icy cold basement, lol. :thanks: for the kind words, and good luck with your berry bomb. :)

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

very professional looking set up in my taste! your plants look like youve taken great care of them and keep a close eye on things. that pic shot from above was jaw dropping. great journal. i went back a few pages to get caught up on things so i wouldn't be out of the loop. i'll get better caught up later tonight when i'm unwinding from the day. great job Xlr8 :high-five: :nicethread:

Thanks Chief, I appreciate that a ton. I've been enjoying the heck out of your journal - you've been throwing up pictures of some of the nicest looking nugs I've ever seen - great smoke/strain reviews, too. :yummy:

Also, I have to say - I see how much you get around and offer encouragement and advice to people, it's impressive to me. Mad respect for that my friend! :high-five:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

thanks mate,i doubt ill be anywhere near your plants, i was just a bit curious when i saw the black string under your plants and wondered if it was scrog or lst, but it seems its a mixture of the both, i could see it working well as your not training the buds through little holes and your not exactly tieing it down as such, so its keeping the stems long but all at a same height but also supporting the plant as well, what ever your doing it seems to be working out well, now as for the purps all i can find is the reduced temp, but the only problem is when you grow a cross breed you never really know which gene is going to come through when it grows, ive seen many purples that end up wiv no purple but i thought as im going to grow my own ill give it a try, would i need a seperate set up to grow it in or would my other plants be ok with the lower temp, also from what i can tell you only need to lower the temp towards the end of flowering stage and not before, sort of like the last 2 or 3 weeks at the most, and the temp been that cool is no problem as my daytime temps are sometimes below that anyway so keeping the temps down wont be any problem, do you know if anyone has experimented with infra red bulbs, i know mamals cant see this light at night i just wondered how plants would react to it, i mean my grow is an experiment i just wonderd if an infa red would benefit or make no differnce to the plant, i was just rattling this around my head due to it been a specific light spectrum, surely someone has tried it, or is it a bad idea, its just that i got a few bulbs lying around from a box i found at the side of the road with a load of new infa red bulbs in it

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

THe plants look great. I had 2 SUper Lemon Haze. 1 clawed a like crazy and 1 did not. I tried playing with nitrogen levels to no avail. THe one still clawed no matter what I did. Finally I just said Fook it, go ahead and claw. It ended up being my highest yielding plant in the garden.

Some flowers will purple without any inducing from cold etc. I grew a Blueberry with really pretty colors last year, and I didn't alter temps to make it cool, etc. The coolest this one got I think was about 68f, warmest about 78f:

Honestly, as far as infrared spectrums, I don't have any idea whether they would be of benefit. You should do a little research to see if there is any info supporting their use, and consider experimenting if it seems promising. If you do - I'd like to check that out! :)

Thanks 70's! I haven't had clawing much in the past, but my Chocolope was that way too - drove me crazy, but it ended up being the best weed I've grown, smoked or vaped (but it was a bit fugly with the clawing sugar leaves).

I wonder if the clawing is just inherent with the pheno/strain - being that OG is so popular, I was hoping someone knew if this is a characteristic that is common somehow or if there's something I should tweak. My OG is from seed, and it's been a strange plant from the beginning. Who cares though if it's great bud.

I have a Super Lemon Haze mom I grew from seed that I'm dying to give a go for my next round. She's such a nice plant in veg, I'm really hoping it flowers as nicely. I can't wait!

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

well after about an hour of reading through your journal i've found something i've never seen yet in a journal and thats breeding. i saw you have a male chocolupe going and have started spreading the pollen on some females. i'm interested in that cant wait for updates on that. you got a ton going on in here that im bummed i never got to see sooner. great job on this one X i'll be dropping in to see the updates

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

I like that 10 pointer!

Me too - really cool looking leaf, huh?

Those are some amazing looking plants my friend! :goodjob:

I too think my plants that are in bloom should be further along then they are. Then I think that I'm just too antsy and worrying about nothing. They will bloom better when they do. Nothing I can do but water, nute and wait.

Thank you A1 - I'm happy with things so far. Patience sucks! ;)

Great looking garden man, your experience shines through.
:thumb::goodjob::cheertwo:

Thanks Blazin! I haven't been growing all that long (only a few years now), but I sure appreciate the compliment. :thankyou:

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

:high-five:Looking Fantastic X!! I love the mutant JTR! Keep up the good work Brother!

Hey Quix -

Thanks man, I love those mutant leaves, too - I guess they're not as uncommon as you might think, and are pretty common specifically on these Jack the Rippers. Sure interesting and cool though. Thanks again! :high-five:

Hey Chief -

Actually, I took a Jack the Ripper male and harvested a little pollen, and then tried to selectively pollinate a couple of buds on each female currently in flower. (I wish I had a Chocolope male!)

I probably should have been more cautious than I was, but I'm hoping I didn't accidentally pollinate everything. ;) Since it's just for me though, I won't be too bummed if I end up with more seeds than intended. It should be interesting to see how things turn out! :)

Twelve12 has a journal where he is experimenting with breeding, it's worth a read - though it's on hold currently (what a bummer!):

Re: Xlr8's Hydroponic Adventures and Photos from the Garden - 2012

Hey Xlr sorry haven't stopped in alot as of late. I've been alittle busy myself. On That purp you grew last year' I have a weak spot myself for Purple herbs. Maybe it's just that it's 'not' what marijuana is suppose to look like, or maybe fond memories of purple haired sensie back in the 70's. I don't know they always look great.
Hey that OG Kush you got going, were the leaves dark emerald green during veg? I have a OG Kush sprout I 'think?' I can't rememeber if it was OG or Bubba Kush. Good thing about grow journals, you can back tract if ya need alittle info.
Looking great. Hey Lookie +'s Keepem Green
