Woodsman's Northern Light #5 Grow

No clue, one of her parents was a lanky sativa (Sour Diesel) and I think the other parent was Cherry Bomb Indica...no telling what she is, some blend.

I know what she and her sibling's are. Stinky hermi bitches with nice Buds...:Rasta:

:peace:

Your gonna burn her up, man! Enjoy!

heres how i lst'd the afgooey nice and flat

:rollit:

140w of cfl 7 20 watters and i also have a 35 watt hps all in a 1 by 2 sqft box wth a 4 inch fan blowing accross the hps. you can see the top of the folgers can i just poked holes all arround the top then i only used 1 string tine a knot on one end pulled it thrugh the hole till knot catches then over branch through another hole then annother branch and so on till every branch is pulled flat i also super cror from time to time to get em all were i need

Nice idea with the knots! I would think that it could be the wattage or lack of that causes low potency. How close were the lights from the plant? Could it be that they were too far away.. CFL's as grow lights are only affective from a few inches. I'm sure you know this. Just curious about the distance you used.

i was realy maticulas and kept them within an inch but ihave another one like a hand lke yours and the the nugs at 3-4 inches from the light are more potent like the mother ther just growing slower but i read on one of these threads a guy had a light meter and 27w cfl's did not lose any footcandles untill 1 foot away so growing close is only for peatration 400w hps diddnt lose any footcandle till a little over 2ft what this means is 1 27w cfl per sqft or 1 400w hps per 4sqft for complete lumen coverage but this only applys to an empty grow room wow that took like a half an houn no joke:nomo:

I've got a light meter (cheap) and there is a considerable drop in light when you start getting more than a couple inches. But like I say it is cheap. what I can tell you though is that my 100w hps produces the same amount of light at 8 inches as the 26w cfl produces at 2-3 inches. More than 3 inches the light meter shows rapid loss.

ive also heard people say that same thing but he had a prograde light meter i still keep my shit real close but if you go cheack out skooterclowns first cfl grow youll see what i mean they have the 12 inches plus some they used 40s or60s dont rember but please check it out it will in form you on what cfls can do if you trust them SkooterClowns CFL Cabinet Grow
enjoy

I'll check it out in a bit and get back to ya a little later. Going out.:thumb:

Hello again Woodsman. I'm glad too see fellow growers using CFL's. I thought that bud in your picture looked similar to my medicine stock. I'm currently growing one seedling using a aerogarden setup, but that won't last forever. So I ordered some 40 watt cfl's and y splitters, but I'm having trouble finding out how to get power to the lights. Stupid question I know, but I thought you could surely help! Thanks!

Do you mean that you don't have a power source nearby or that you need a light socket and cord. Thats all I did. Electrical wire, light socket, plug. All can be bought at any hardware store or Lowes, Home Depot, etc. You can take apart an old lamp and use the wire, plug and socket also. Run these to a timer or and your set. Just make sure you have enough light. More is better!:thumb:

Holy crap this thread is getting big...fast:ganjamon:

A few pages back you were having calcium lockout due to low PH. You figured it out though:welldone: In soil calcium is best absorbed at a PH of 6.5-7 and gets locked out in soil that is below 6 and above 9 The rust spots are a dead give away every time. Purple tops of stems on new growth is another.Calcium is fundamental to cell growth. Good catch...even though it was days ago.

About the CFl's and growing dense nugs. I think the reason that the potency is lower is because the CFl's just dont penetrate like HID's do so they only harden up the outside of the buds and the center is much less dense and for whatever reason don't get a crystaly. I also think the CFL growers tend to pull there crop to early as i think results would be better if they waited 20-30% longer than they would under HID. Just an opinion and what do i know.

Oh Edit to add: Light meters are good for ballparking light distribution but if you really want to know what quality of light you are getting in a given spot you need something that measures Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR). That's where i think CFL's are lacking as well, but i don't know as i have not purchased one yet. =p

So I should just throw out my buds? I use over half CFL's?

Properly done... CFL bud can be high quality dense nugs... CFL's can be placed very close to the foliage and give you more than adequate PAR light, if you use the right spectrum CFL's. A lot of really nice grows under CFL's.

You wanna see extreme CFL awesomeness? In a TINY BOX. Check out gangalious's grow. Also check out the clowns grow, Skooterclown and SK Slappy. Their box is CFL's only right now.

I have a 150W HPS so you can call me a cheater (I think the blend of lights to be the right choice for me, but I will probably end up with a 400 HPS and a light mover in the end for my closet). I get tired of daily or more than daily light adjustment on 9 light sources lol.

Just my two cents anyway.

I definitely cant argue with results my friend :ganjamon:And your results speak for themselves.

Is there a grow journal that compares scientifically, CFL's vs HID? IE same medium, same strain type grow off? Like i said, i don't have a PAR meter so i can't test my T5 vs my MH/HPS. My plants definitely grow well under my T5. Will check out the threads you mentioned. BRB.

Aargh, I cannot find it but I did read some studies of this. It literally came down to space and the amount of lumens overall. i.e tiny area cfls only oprtion really but work well. 4 sq feet a combination worked well and anything over 5 sq feet there as only ever one winner, the hps.

Thanks that's exactly what i was looking for. So for small area grows CFL's and anything over 4x4 and you need HID.
