Woodsman Outdoors

Well, phooey, Woodsman :smokin2::smokin2:

That gave me the shivers! Yuk! Feed some of the Asamax to em with they're regular watering. Might not kill them but should repel them. Spray too! Evil, yukie things.

What a garden you have! They all look great! Kill them bugs brother!
My heart is with you in your battle! :peace::peace:

Hi O! Always nice to see you over here. I watered in my first dose of Azamax the other day, I'll repeat tomorrow or the next day as it is supposed to thunderstorm the next couple of days. I don't want to apply to early or it will just get washed out so I'll wait till the rain is about to leave us. I'll apply and then let the rain wash it in.

Thanks for visiting, I know you are a busy guy now with your buddy in town and all your growing chores including keeping up two posts!

I hate bugs on my plants!!! I'm having a small bout with cabbage loopers right now. They aren't tearing stuff up like those borers though. Other than the pests, the garden is coming along nicely. Either mine are growing slow, or yours are growing fast. I thought the last picture I saw ours were really close together, now your colas are looking huge. You've done a great job thus far. Keep up the good work, Brother. Let's pray to the ganja goddess for each other to finish before the frost comes in.

I'll have to check out 'cabbage loopers' on the internet, that's a new one for me. Mine may be what they call 'corn borers'. They look somewhat similar and we are surrounded by corn and soy!

I don't think yours are any different from mine, remember that I have four plants that are just starting to show their buds. The three bagweed plants are the only ones that you see with 'actual buds'. They are from two different bags though I have three completely different phonos between them. One of them (the one with the several bud stalks all at about the same height smells like skunk which I've craved. The original smoke was not anything like what I'm smelling now. It had a more commercial smell to it. Not cured or perhaps not cured enough. I am excited about these three as the high from both was very good for bagweed and after a cure should be awesome. They are already starting to 'trich up'. Hopefully they will look like Mountain High's buds!

did somebody mention... Billy the Exterminator?

I love that guy, he always gets bitten, stung, sprayed by rabid skunks, whatever, all in a days work right>

I had some new moth larvae damage showing up everyday until I figured out one of the relatives was keeping a nearby door/porch light on, all night. "Cause the critters come up at night to eat the dog's food". Oh yeah, the porch light...the big scary porch light, that'll keep 'em away.

Since i put up the mosquito net all I've been dealing with is gnats.

I look at your garden Woodsy and I wish I had started way earlier.

kind regards
Nice to see ya Toes!
Is that the reality show about the exterminators? What a dysfunctional family! LOL could just be that I'm too old or just missing something there.

I've thought of just throwing a mosquito net on top of them, though I imagine it would be better to make a frame so they don't touch the plants.

Nice work Woods. You will have something to smoke this winter.
That was the plan and not just for the winter, looking for a couple of years worth just in case I'm unable to grow again next year for whatever reason. Since I'm the only one smoking the stuff :lot-o-toke: it is reasonable to to assume it will last. That's why every bud counts for me, it kills me that these bastard bugs are continuing to eat their fill at will. There is an all out war in my garden!

Aww, that is no good at all. I have never had to deal w/ those little bastards. I would use everything in my arsenal. Seeing some thing like that means all out war, possibly even Genocide.

I'm trying Velo my friend, The azamax is a new acquisition for me in this 'war on bugs' and although Azamax doesn't mention stem borers on it's list of target victims, I'm hoping it's just because they missed it!

Ugh, looking at your pictures reminds me of what I will soon be doing when I go work for a farmer friend of mine. What a drag... especially when you have to hand pick through 80, 12 foot monster bushes.... I can't wait to find a permanent solution to these little fawkers.

You've had experience with these bugs? Odin if you have any suggestions, please by all means, share it with us.
Thanks buddy.

Man the thought of those bastards had kinda moved to the back of my mind and now here they are front and center again! I thought they only came around earlier in the year, obviously not. I sure hope I don't get them Woodsman, and wish you well. That will be awesome if the azamax kills or discourages them.

Other than that your plants are looking just amazing. The cola leafs on your bagseed plants look huge, am I seeing that right? Kinda remind me of some of my sativas that I pulled early.

woodsman,
cked on aza. site and it doesnt mention stem borers specifically, but does include the same family of stuff, such as those cabbabe thingeys....should be posting an update to site tonight....so wish me luck....hubby sends best and says those beasts gave him the crawlies...ugh...they are tooooo ugly to live...L

if those plants get any prettier, im going to have a sincere case of plant envy...L:tokin:

Win the war Woodsan!! Masacre those little @&%$#!

Sorry to hear about the invasion...I wish I had some advise for you, but I've never had to deal with bugs like that! I hope everything turns out ok. I'll be sending good vibes your way!!!:goodluck:

I believe he is spraying and watering with the Azamax Myzz.

How's the recovery from your attempt at making your deck hot tub friendly???

Odin if you have any suggestions, please by all means, share it with us.
Thanks buddy.

Don't forget, I am the entomology major, hahha. One of my goals is to find a 100% natural pest control for these larvae. They have caused a major headache for myself, you, and others, and I would love nothing more than to use my college education to eradicate these little bastards.

Here's something I found out.

Spider Mites do NOT like Orange Oil extract.

I used the home remedy in the pests and problems thread using an edible oil, dishsoap, and water.

It almost singlehandedly rid my spider mite population within a few days... I'll be using the Azamax/Azatrol spray and watering method to get rid of the eggs and straglers.

So, what do ya know about Miller Moths??? They are driving me nuts!

Good to know!! Gonna try that in my future indoor grows - mites ruined my last indoor grow.

I don't know a lot about Miller Moths/Army cutworms. I don't think we even have them out here in CA. I found this page about them, seems to have some good information.

I use hebanario peppers, crushed and mixed with plain water. Spray that on entire plant and almost nothing will go near your plants. But i don't know about borers. Is the larva delivered by butterflys ??

I believe they are either a type of boring beetle larvae, or a moth larvae. IDing small catterpillars can be troublesome, as many look identical to each other. I will have access to one of the largest insect catalogs/collections in the world soon, and hope to pin point exactly what these are. Hoping to find a type of non-invasive, predatory wasp to control these.

Definitely going to try the pepper idea. Someone else mentioned that to me once but I have never tried it.

They aren't 'bugging' my plants, just me, so it's no biggee. I have more of an issue with their kamikaze dive bombing me and the lights and tv more than anything.

We get them every fall, along with a sudden increase in the housefly population every year. Drive me nuts! I am deathly allergic to most bites/stings so you wouldn't like my solutions to ridding them. So I'll just be silent :)

Thanks for the 420 Points!

I have heard of this method before. You can actually buy an oil extract of this stuff if I am not mistaken. I know with it's use it will burn your skin, not to mention your eyes or mucus membranes. I know guys use this to rid animals like moles and deer. I have never heard of using it to control insects.

So what happens? Does it wash off or wear off over time? What if you smoke habernero oil?

Wow, I've been away for a day (I think) and You all have been partying here without me! I better get to work answering you all!

I've had some huge leaves on those bagweeds for sure. Many are way larger than my hand.

So far I haven't been able to tell if the azamax is working since what I'm finding may have been here before my first application. I've given them another spray (yesterday) but it's been raining off and on. I've found two little bastards today though.

Thanks for looking into it L. I've been treating the plants anyway, we'll see what happens.

I've ordered something called: Thuricide Bacillus Thuringiensis (tB or Bt not sure how they abbreviate it. It is used to kill moth or beetle larvae which is what I have (not sure which) What I have may be the Hemp Borer (yes there is such a thing) There was another candidate that I forgot the name of and will have to save it the next time I find it.. This stuff is made to kill these larvea so as soon as I get it (from amazon - 10 bucks plus 10 shipping -(robbery) I should be getting it by early next week. I believe it is sprayed on the plant.

Well waste none of it woods, make as much hash and stuff as you can.

It will all go to good use! By the way just made some hash from the junk I got in the freezer. Did a Blender batch yesterday and earlier today I scraped it up and am letting the stuff dry out right now. Got a piece about half the size of my index finger.

Win the war Woodsan!! Masacre those little @&%$#!

Howdy big C, ya I wouldn't wish these on anybody for sure, they are the worst!

Sorry to hear about the insect issues. Hope all turns out well :goodluck:

You ever heard of Azamax?

After the Neem that was the next thing. I'm waiting for the new stuff (above) to arrive so I can give it a try.

I believe he is spraying and watering with the Azamax Myzz.

I'm still quite sore in my leg and my shoulder and now I've got numbing in my left arm (generating from my back) I'm pretty sure it's from my back since when my wife touches me in that spot, I feel it all the down my arm.

Don't forget, I am the entomology major, hahha. One of my goals is to find a 100% natural pest control for these larvae. They have caused a major headache for myself, you, and others, and I would love nothing more than to use my college education to eradicate these little bastards.

have you ever heard of the stuff I ordered: Thuricide Bacillus Thuringiensis I mentioned hemp borers but It may be something different. I though I saved the page I found it on, but I lost it. I think the hemp borers were not the right color.

Great job G! I'm sure the azamax will do it for ya if the other stuff doesn't

the bubba looks great the all do but the bubba is growing fast

She is a beauty isn't she. She is showing her first buddage now. Tiny like the NL, Mazar and the Runt, but it's there none the less.

I use hebanario peppers, crushed and mixed with plain water. Spray that on entire plant and almost nothing will go near your plants. But i don't know about borers. Is the larva delivered by butterflys ??

Ya it's moth or beetle larvae. I think this stuff needs industrial strength stuff to get rid of them so we'll see when my new stuff get's here.

Good to know!! Gonna try that in my future indoor grows - mites ruined my last indoor grow.

I guess I'm lucky that I don't have the spider mit........ I dont' want to jinx myself!

Right you are brother about the larvea, perhaps look up that stuff I ordered (Thuricide Bacillus Thuringiensis)

Odin,
I use hot pepper spray on my garden veggies also. And thanks for the big tip !! And good luck !!
Just rinse before eating!

I wouldn't smoke the stuff unless it was rinsed off! Wouldn't it burn your lungs?
Yeah actually I think that is where I first heard about it. Someone recommended it to me for my veggie garden. Never got around to trying it though.

Thanks all of you for staying with me on this. I know my replies are a little 'discombobulated' but I'm a touch 'out of it' right now, but did not want you all to wait forever for me to respond.
