Why Not's Platinum Kush Grow

Hey Doo, retired here (USA) as well & been reading your journal post and like what I see. I have completed 2 full grows in soil with less than average harvests along with a couple fails. Although I am still in the planning stages for my 1st indoor hydro/DWC grow, I am getting plenty of reading material from this site. I'll sub your feed here & ride it out with you as I should be set up & germinating by the time you harvest.

Hey Old, Glad to have you on a Grow-Along. What a hoot! My seedlings are at a dangerous time for me. I have been known to kill them, probably with kindness (I expect over watering). This time I am being much more careful. Once they start on new leaves, I am good. The Platinum Kush has many buds, I was hoping for bigger by now. Massive actually. This has been a learning grow for me too. When I started, I used Advanced Nutrients Grow A alone then moved to Grow B, again all alone. Seemed reasonable, but I was wrong. Then I came to realize I was mixing for 1 L in a 2 L container. It is only for just over half the grow I have been properly neutranizing. New word, yea. Looking forward to the Grow Tent. I bought bigger than I was going to at first, but realizing what I need to grow to get the results I need and this size seems good. Need a light and have time? Try TOMTOP from China, 2kw LED $159 usd. I need another light but smaller.
What are you growing? From seeds? Indica?

Sorry, because I can not edit, I will correct. The Grow Tent is only 5'x4'x80" (not 6'x4') so it can only be 20 square feet not the 24 as previously stated.

Hello Doo. I am a first-time grower. Have one Early Miss auto-flower. It started flowering right on schedule at 7 weeks. Now 4 weeks later and I am patiently waiting for mostly-brown pistils, some conversion of trichomes to amber, some yellowing of leaves... things that research indicates that your plant is ready to harvest. In my case there are plenty of white pistils still. What is your experience with harvesting these plants?

Also, I snipped off a lower branch about a week ago. While trimming off the leaves I discovered a few seeds! Not at all expected. The plant is outdoors with just a tiny neighbor. Also a female. Have you had any seeds with these plants? Will they be viable?
Any chance of a picture of your buds and the time it took to get there, would love to compare when I get to that point?

Reading up on drying and curing of buds. One gentleman has a moisture meter inside the glass mason jar he cures the weed in. Keeps up on the drying until hits a certain point. He called them mini. Any idea on where I can get?

Just misc donated bag seeds. Unknown history but was told "eeets za bomb, za big huge Bomb, man...." LOL.

Hey Doo,
Just joined and wanted to say hi to some of the other old timers. I'm retired too and am on the coast in Washington. I moved here to be in a legal state.
Not growing yet but it sure is fun to see pictures of other'.

I bought an LED too...never used one and so I decided it was time to upgrade. So That will make it even more of an adventure. You happy with yours?

See you around,
JD

New Member - I currently have Platinum Kush just beginning the Flowering Stage. I have just ordered Purple Kush seeds.
This is the Platinum Kush just before going to the Flowering Stage at 9 weeks.
Looking forward to the Purple.

Retired here as well. Also new to site so Welcome Aboard.

Doo....I bet you can get more than 2oz each! That’s probably closer to what will happen than original plans but that’s just the way quality stuff is. Lol. There are some growers that can get astronomical yields out of a tent but they are very skilled and have everything dialed in. Lol. If you figure 2oz per plant and come in way above that it will be a victory. I bet you can do it my man!

Just got back from a Pop Up Market. Picked up a Pineapple Express plant, about 4 inches, it is a clone. It is also Sativa, unfortunately. Got two tinctures for gummies and one Liquid THC Shot. Got some Gorilla Glue and Forbidden Fruit weed. Forbidden Fruit I just tested, unfortunately my face has fallen off. Gorilla Glue, oh ya.
Ready to make gummies. Deb out picking up dinner. Got one batch of Strawberry Cana Lego Gummies done. One more Berry Blue to go. I found because the first half setting up in the fridge takes 20 minutes, simply 30 seconds in the microwave heats it up enough to pour the last half. Do not stir, you will lose too much to the spoon.
Wow, passed out, woke up at 3 am. Cleaned up the gummy preparation because it is all done, have 70 gummies in the fridge. All packaged in 4's. Five packages gone.
Got the seedlings and the Pineapple out from under the grow light and on to the front deck for this wonderful sunny day. Gave them a tiny drink. They are ever so slightly bigger, no secondary leaves yet. Gave the Platinum a very good watering last night. I will be interested in seeing how the moisture is in the soil tonight. Plants were feeling a bit dry. The Buds on the Platinum Kush are looking good. Internet down.
Seedlings are beginning secondary leaves. Big step to growing up. One has the extra leaves so tiny small but they are there. It is raining today so must pay attention, do not want to drown them. I did water sparingly. All seven doing well. The Pineapple clone is happily growing many leaves, already two tops with out pruning. It seems to like being under the grow lights at night, a burst of growth. Looks like a galaxy in there. The Platinum Kush was fine this morning when I removed the seedlings. Plants felt healthy when I bumped into it getting the seedlings. Crisp, firm, turgid is the term I think. One bud seems to be growing the leaves you trim off a big bud. Three more days of Big Bud then Overdrive. Air filter doing a good job. Tomorrow, I will drill the holes to pull the electric wire through to clear up in the shed. I will turn off the power when the time comes.

Just got a replacement of my first Purple Kush order with Crop King. Two of five did not germinate, the other three were drown, we had a flood. CK also sent some Fem AF Purple Kush to try out. I am impressed. Rolling papers, no lighter. Third Crop King pin.

Wow, Crop King now has Blue Cookies, 28% THC Indica Hybrid.

Yes, I like the LED, mine is 2,000 watts with 200 bulbs. I get my grow tent tomorrow. Plans that are from the feminized seeds or clone will go in the tent for the 12 hours of darkness needed during the flower stage. The auto flower plants will be outside the tent but inside the shed. I am still unsure, to have 8 full plants in the 5 x 4 foot tent with 2K LED lights, is that over kill? Should I pick up a 400 - 600 watt unit for the inside of the tent and use the 2K for outside the tent? I plan on 6 auto flower outside the tent. Doing 8 and 6 twice should provide me with what I am prescribed. I will try the 2K in the tent and see if it works out. Currently starting, I have one from clone and 7 auto flower from feminized seeds.

That light should be good in your tent doo. Definitely not overkill. Do you know the actual watts it’s pulling at the wall. That info is usually available on Amazon if that’s where you got it from or on the manufacturers website if you went that route. That number will be a great indicator of the true strength of the light. Mine is a 2400 watt light probably very similar to yours. It has the 10w diodes in it as well. I have it in a smaller tent 2x4 and the plants love it so far. Definitely not overkill. Yours will Love it too. The actual wattage being pulled at the wall is right around 450 watts which is pretty good for these type of lights. Using just a simple analog light meter there is not a whole lot of difference at the edge of the tent compared to directly under the light. I think you will really like it in that tent. But if you’re anything like the rest of us you will always want more! Haha. Nice score with all the goodies!

Hey Magoo, great name! My brother and I would do the Crabby Appleton with inner tubes in the water. Kids eh?
Last night, I went out to an 82 birthday party for my mother in law. Gave her a pack of canna gummies as a present. She asked for a second pack. Gave her a second pack. Strange family get together, my oldest friend is now going out with my sister in law. They would make a nice couple. James is a widower. Maryann divorced. Both have grown kids. She just introduced James to her family at the party. I have known Jamie since he was 16. A student of mine in SCUBA at CFB Toronto. On the way out to the party, I left the seedlings outside, not in the shed for two hours of darkness. Then a BIG rain came luckily missed my place. It would have killed the seedlings again. Luckily I got home and put them in the shed, under the grow light for the night. Gave them a small sip of water each and watered the Platinum Kush again. It indicated more gave about 1/2 L each. . Tomorrow is the last day of Big Bud, then two weeks of the final nutrient Overdrive.
Tent comes today. During their dark period, I can put the plants in the tent, and clean out the shed. A friend has six big boxes stored there. I have advised him I need the space and I will them put out of the grow shed, under a tarp, this weekend. This is why I built the shed in the first place. Let's get serious here.

The tent is now erected and operational. I even finished off the wiring, insulated with ROXUL and vapor barriered. Well I did the electrical anyway. I insulated the 4 and 5 feet of wall that the tent is up against. The 4x6 polyfoam for under the tent would not fit in or on top of the car. Just the top and bottom to worry about thermally. It

certainly is bright inside the tent. Here is a picture while they were outside. One plant might have 50 buds on it. Still three weeks to harvest. Smells like tuna. The tent will finish them off well. The next run is Early Miss, an auto flower, should be interesting. Am going Ganja Nutrients on this grow. Hopefully they will need the trellis netting I got with the tent. It helps hold up those huge buds. You know the ones, or you want to know them very well.

Love the tent. Fits perfectly in the shed. Still some adjustments to make. Velcro tabs all over to hold things in place. Very bright in there. Today I watered, just too sore yesterday to continue. Tomorrow I start on the final nutrient, Overdrive. Three weeks to harvest. Seedlings still on the first set of secondary leaves, in three weeks they should be vegetative. I will then transfer them into the 5 gal pails and put them on an 18 hour day. A second light is necessary to use the nursery portion of the tent. There is a dividing screen so one part can be dark and the other illuminated. This second light could be used outside the tent if one crop is on Flower cycle inside and auto flower plants that need no dark outside.

Here is an outside shot of a bud. last night Three weeks more of flowering. I tried counting the buds on one plant and I lost count but estimate 50. I have been reading about harvesting, drying and curing. More work than I expected, but now I understand how the dispensaries have such nice looking product.

I just got back from Growers Paradise, a local Grow shop. Dylan the proprietor, advised me that the Platinum Kush strain can take longer and mine needs two extra weeks. I am to remain on Big Bud for that extra two weeks before going on to Overdrive for it's two weeks. I bought the Ganja Brand nutrients for the entire Early Miss grow. Only need the Bloom A & B to complete the Ganja set. Won't need that for two months. In case I run out of any of the flowering nutrients, I can supplement the Ganja equivalent.
