Why Not's Platinum Kush Grow

Just got back from the local grow shop. He commented on the picture of the plants, said they are doing very well, look really healthy. My grow might appear a week or two behind because it was done under LEDs. LEDs will take a bit longer on both the grow and bloom but the savings compared to the regular grow lights operating cost is big. No comments on quality yet, I will learn and tell.
He sold me litmus test strips so I test the PH of the water. My Brita filtered tap water has a better PH than the bottled spring water that was advised.
The shop guy thinks I should harvest about a half a pound from my Platinum Kush grow. Hearing that, I immediately decided to try and grow the other five Early Miss seeds before winter. That will give me potentially a pound and a half or 24 oz., about half of my needs. Hope I get more. If he meant half pound a plant and not 1.6 oz. a plant, I am in really good shape. His estimates might be low. Plants might do better than expected.
The five new seeds have been soaking since 11 am, all five have sunk; of the five old seeds, three have sprouted roots and are in coco planting pods, the other two still in the paper towel germinating hopefully. Picked up five more coco planting pods for these new seeds. Up at 4 am to put the new seeds on the towel with the other two that still have not popped yet. With out looking closely, (it was 4 am, give me a break, eh?) I could see a couple of the new seeds had popped already.
Been thinking of next year's grow. So far Green Crack and Crown Royal are at the top of the list. I was considering an auto flower for the final grow, if I get enough grows in the year. Let's see how the Early Miss goes. Here is a shot right now.

In the next month, this little nodule is going to look like my Avatar. This week I continue with Big Bud and B-52 as well as the Bloom A & B. Next week we stop using Big Bud and add instead Overdrive. I learned using the LED lights adds some time to the grow (takes a bit longer). I need to raise the lights again, there might really be a stretch phase. I get to feed them again tonight.
The Early Miss seeds average is not good yet. Three of the first five, one of the second five are in coco planting nodes. The others are taking longer to split open and start their adventure. I have the paper towel being kept wet but not soaking.

Sounds like you are doing everything right doo. You are giving your plants everything they need! I truly hope you hit your goals for this grow. I definitely think it was a good idea to pop some more seeds in order to give you a better shot. I’d like to see some pics without the grow lights on. Let’s see all those bud spots! Lol

One of the first set of five seeds that was planted in a coco pod (3) has poked its head up. The two others have not. Three of the second set of five are now in pods. Four seeds remain (two of each set) between the towels now, it was six last night. I put them in the bathroom, closed the door with the heater on low. That brought two of the second five to root showing. It is now 3 and 3 of the two 5 seed starts are in pods. The last four seeds look good, one of them is really small. Hopefully the heat kicks them all into start. Next I might put a heating pad under them. Watch two more come up, then the 80% guarantee will be satisfied. I want all four. See, I told you, just checked and two more have sprouted. The last two look good still. So all five of the second grow have germinated, two of the first have not yet.

Remind me again the size of your grow area in the shed
The shed is 10x10 ft. but there is a table I am building an energy system on. A friend has some boxes stored there, I have asked him to remove it, he moves in August. Now I am using one grow light 2kw, it lights a 4 ft. x 3 ft. area approximately. I should have these numbers to draw out the shed, I am planning on re modeling after the Platinum finishes so the grow area is at the darker back and not near the door that has windows in it. I just raised the lights so 20-24 inches clearance is maintained.

Sounds awesome! My original plan was to turn my shed into my grow house but I was concerned about climate control as it has no insulation. Running power to it wouldn’t be an issue but I opted for the tent within the main building

Yes, no insulation is a concern. Tent is good as darkness is easy to achieve, in the shed with windows everywhere, it is hard. A tent is easier to heat. We do not usually get so hot is a problem. But insulation works both ways.

Hello Doo. I am a first-time grower. Have one Early Miss auto-flower. It started flowering right on schedule at 7 weeks. Now 4 weeks later and I am patiently waiting for mostly-brown pistils, some conversion of trichomes to amber, some yellowing of leaves... things that research indicates that your plant is ready to harvest. In my case there are plenty of white pistils still. What is your experience with harvesting these plants?

Also, I snipped off a lower branch about a week ago. While trimming off the leaves I discovered a few seeds! Not at all expected. The plant is outdoors with just a tiny neighbor. Also a female. Have you had any seeds with these plants? Will they be viable?

Early Miss : I got 10 coco seed pods on the front deck (the only place that gets sun). One pod with seed is forming those first two leaves, five you can see the growth, two nothing visible yet and the last two might be dead. Might be 7 of 10 grow. Can see one more of the two not visible yet.

Hello Wild, nice to have you to talk to, you have already given me great input. I am a disabled senior in chronic pain, in my chair most of the time. My Early Miss are still seedlings. The Platinum Kush will finish this month and I move the seedlings in. Sounds like you are right on track with your magnifying glass, keep it up. There are two days to aim for to get maximum harvest. After that it is downhill. Seeds, you might have a dual sex unit there, a hermaphrodite. I would ask Crop King on their chat. I expect with the genes being messed about with, this might be a way of propagation. It says they do not clone. You scored I think. Do tell me if they sprout. My seedlings should finish around Halloween. It says the Early Miss grows down to 10 degrees, I might just find out. The cold helps with colour I hear. I am indoors under 2K Leds in an un insulated 10x10' shed.

Early Miss : I got 10 coco seed pods on the front deck (the only place that gets sun). One pod with seed is forming those first two leaves, six you can see the growth, one nothing visible yet and the last two might be dead. Might be 7 of 10 grow. Was just advised to keep dark till the lights turn on; they just had 10 hours of dark. Conflicting input does not help. As it sits 7 have heads and two leaves poking up. Three are nothing, still watering. Put them in the grow shack over night, now they are out in the sun.

I’ve seen people sprouting seedlings with little to no light and I’ve seen them under 24 hr light. Real intense light may be good to avoid. I think there is wiggle room here. You definitely want pretty good humidity for seedlings which the domes probably help with. The high humidity allows those little leaves to absorb some moisture also while the roots begin to grow. Hopefully the other 3 pop for you.

I am keeping the Platinum Kush at week 4 Bloom treatment for another week. The buds are getting bigger and are nice and firm. I heard from the person I picked the clones up from, got about two oz. dried per plant. Still at $240 an Ounce, it would have cost me $2,400.00, instead $50.00 plus hydro.
The Early Miss seedlings are still so small, it boggles the mind how they will look in three months. If they too produce 2 oz. / plant, I should have half of my prescription for the year. Or $3,360.00 more to total $5,760.00 it would have cost me with my LP.
I am looking for a Grow Tent to put in the shed. My current five bucket grow takes up 4 x 3 feet of disorganized space. The seedlings in pots fit between the Platinum Kush buckets for some overnight sun. My neighbours have a 4 x 4 foot tent and they say they can only get 6 full grown plants in their tent, I bet I could fit 8 or maybe 9. The smaller tent I was considering, just will not do what I want. Fit in the corner and was cute. A tent can be more easily heated in the early winter and late spring than the whole shed.
Looking at my needs and what I can grow, with a late start as this year turned out. I SHOULD be able to do two grows of regular feminized plants, each regular grow must be able to fit into the grow tent to be in total darkness for 12 hours to achieve the flower cycle. Therefore 2 grows x 8 p / grow x 2 oz. / p = 32 oz. 51.5 - 32 = 20 oz. to go. That would be 10 auto flower plants that do not need dark periods to bring on the flower cycle so no room in the tent is necessary. Thus each of the two grows will be 8 regular feminized plants and 5 - 6 auto flower plants. 4 Crown Royal, 4 Green Crack, 6 White Widow is my planned first grow for next year. Do this twice and my needs are taken care of. Would like some to bake with or make shatter with. Let us see what comes out of these auto flower seeds. Maybe I will take another picture tomorrow.

Just ordered a 2-in-1 6' x 4' x 80" Grow tent. Should hold what I need held. One more grow light to get. Probably 600 w, enough to do the 4x4 chamber or put the 2K there and a small one for 6 or so plants outside the tent. This tent has a second chamber to germinate and grow to vegetative stage. Or make it one big 24 sq. foot chamber for 8+ plants. It also has a trellis for holding up the big buds. The trellis will be too late for this grow.
The seedlings are still so small, but look green and not wrinkled. Giving little bits of water over the day allowing air to get to the roots too. The leaves are getting slightly larger. I have them under the grow lights on the floor around the Platinum Kush buckets. The buds on the Platinum are getting larger, slowly when you see them every day. But larger. Some leaves are a bit beaten up, the fan is aggressive where it hits the outer leaves. I should do a better job of pruning, maybe tomorrow morning. Watered them again today, the moisture meter said I could. Maybe they are using up more of the Big Bud I have been adding, I will keep an eye on the meter and water again as necessary. Friday was week 6 Bloom (plus 4 weeks cutting to clone, then 4 weeks vegetative, 14 weeks total) I change over to the Overdrive and B-52 for two weeks, then flush. The seedlings will almost be at week 4 from seed then, ready for vegetative stage treatment. You'd almost think I planned it that way. Will need three more 5 gal. buckets and trays. Two for now, one more in the spring and six smaller containers for the auto flower that need no darkness so can be kept outside the tent.
