Welcome to you! Glad to have you along. I am still pretty new to growing and some of the big names in genetics/cultivars. Can you relay a little more about JJ 91 Star? Just curious, and trying to get more educated. Thanks!

Welcome @bobrown14 ! Glad to have you, can’t wait to see what you’re bringing! I myself have just started growing for real and the chem family sort of fell into my lap. I was just looking for something to grow and I found an awesome deal on a strain that looked amazing.

I too would like to get more familiar with origins and breeders, I’m sure what I’m growing is a ways off of the original genetics.

By way of seeds, there are a huge number of seedbanks and breeders out there, with a wide range of prices. The vendor-sponsors here on 420 are a great place to start. @SeedsMan @Gary from The Vault and @DrSeeds are ones that I have experience with. $89 for how many seeds? Where were you looking, if you don't mind my asking?

Thank you Bard, I'm looking forward to the grow. It's miss Bean though. I looked in SeedsMan, the Chemdawgs were $89. for 5 fem seeds. Are fem seeds alright to grow? Do they have the same outcome as reg seeds? I shall crews 420 to see what I can fine.

Think of feminized seed as regular seed that has had the vast majority of those with male chromosomes removed. Today 99% or more of the plants from feminized seed will be female instead of the 50% from regular seed.

The feminized seed is produced by changing the sex of all or part of a female plant by suppressing the hormone that produces female flowers. That plant, or part of it, will produce male flowers with only female chromosomes. The pollen is used to pollinate female flowers, producing seed that will grow into female plants.

Basically all it means is that you no longer have to germinate two or more times the seed for the plants you need, and grow them out until you can determine the sex of the plants. It saves time and resources for the grower.

I don't have room for clones, so I use the same process to produce seed for the genetics I buy. I buy the feminized seed, grow them, and reverse the sex of a branch on the most vigorous plant. I use the pollen produced to pollinate the other plants, and voila! I have a lifetime supply of feminized seed for that strain. My current grow is to do this for three strains.
