White Widow Halloween Grow With 315 Watt CMH Light Journal

Here is a pic from today. 40 days in veg so far. Growth is slow and boring. Maybe it seem that way because I am out of smoke. LST is pretty much done now. Maybe a tweek on the smaller one after it get some growth. Have I mentioned that I'm not a very patient person?

Honestly, If the small one was as big as the big one I would be temped to flip. But alas its just too small. I need at least an oz from each for this to be worth it. More would be better but I would call it a very good success if I got an oz per plant. Holding out tho since over an oz per plant would be even better. I'm not even sure how tall these plants would be if I let them go without LST. Atm there sitting pretty low since I bent and topped them all. I cant help but to tie every branch down that grows higher then the rest. Theres a cpl in the back row I have my eye on and I will eventually tie them too.
Does LST slow growth?

I'd say you are right at 1 oz. for the little girl and 2 oz. for the others right now as long as they do well post-flip.
Of course I could be completely wrong...

My guess is at least 8 ozs., if you flip right now. I'd add that in my opinion, it's all up to that 315 lec cmh . If it really can do what a 600w hps can do, then 8 zs. or more, no problem. But I'm a little surprised at your slow growth, seems they would be bigger at 40 days ? Are you still in 100% happy frog ? And are you following FF feeding schedule to a tee ?? Just remember, less is more with the tiger bloom !! You going to clone these ??

I have only used minimum nutes. When I was in happy frog I just watered with only 1 time with nutes. Admittedly I started out slow because I didn't water as much as I should have. Or should I say when I did water it really didnt hold it so they was slow. Now I have transplanted them into 3 gallon fabric pots and used ocean forest and perlite. Since I transfered them I have only given them nutes once since I figured the ocean forest being new had some good stuff in it. I watered them last night again just water and next watering I'm going with half dose of nutes. So no I haven't followed the feeding schedule to a tee. Now I feel they are definitely rdy and I plan on giving more to them. I haven't even opened the tiger bloom yet.
I don't know guys and gals. I really got paranoid with the watering and nutes. If you check at the beginning of this journal I got hammered a few times about overwatering and that's ok. I guess it's hard to judge if your not in the room. So yeah now I'm going to start feeding every other watering and stick more to the schedule

Well that sounds amazing! I have nothing to judge since this is my first grow. personally they look too small for an ounce but maybe with the growth they have when flipped makes up for it?
Slowpuffer,,,, you beautiful man you. if I got 8 oz the way they are now I wouldn't know what to do with myself. actually I guess your both close to the same outcome. Well as awesome as that sounds and its very tempting, there just seems to be too much empty space. Even for my first grow. Think I will let them bush out a lil more in hopes of a guaranteed 8 oz total. Heck, 4 or 5 oz would prolly last me until I harvest another.
Slowpuffer,,, I'm thinking of cloning since I have a small 2 foot by 2 foot tent not being used. Just have to make sure I have all the frame parts. It was given to me. When taking clones do you take from the top or bottom? does it even matter? right now they are pretty low and spread out. having a hard time cutting anything off of them. I tried to spread it out so much that everything is getting light in hopes of good bud sights. would hate to take a potential bud away for a clone but then again isn't that the point?

The lower the cutting on the main stem, the better chance of rooting. I started off and until recently, used rockwool cubes under a dome, with a heating pad under the tray. And I was getting good at it. But now I'm learning to use an aero cloner. 1st. time I got 17 of 25 cuttings, and next time I got 23 of 25, and my 3rd. batch is 8 or 9 days old today and about 1/2 of them have roots . I'm planning on the aero cloner supplying both my regular grow and my SOG. Much cleaner operation !! But like you say, wait another 2 weeks and get more ? Your call, I'd wait myself !! But I'd up the grow big to normal dose, and keep using it for the 1st. wk. of 12/12 along with 1/2 dose of TB, then switch to full dose of TB at week 2. I'm finding out that it don't matter much which brand fert you use, we need a lot of different additives to grow the biggest and badest buds. And knowledge as to the when to use what, is what separates success from failure. I'm doing an organic grow now, but then I'll switch to chemicals when I start growing in coco. All I have is some 3 yr. old grow big, for my veg. room, which is already in coco & It's working great until I can get a correct nutrient for coco coir. When you get ready to take those cuttings, let me know if I can help. It doesn't take brain science to do it, but cleanness is the most important aspect of cloning.

I'd wait to flip, for sure. I'm basing my guess on the only grow I've done with a very short veg time and small plants that gave me nothing but trouble.

If interested, take a look at THIS POST, and THIS POST. They show my worst grow using a very quick veg (I almost culled them on several occasions). The result was an average of 2 oz. for each of the two Grape Ape x Sensi Star plants. They were flipped on day 38 from germination and flowered for 60 days. Different strains vary so much that I'm just throwing out a wild guess. The other plants in the same grow were sativas that bloomed much longer and ended up with almost 5.5 oz. each, but outgrew my space.

I flipped them so early because I was re-using some High Brix soil that seemed to be almost toxic to the plants, and I knew the sativas were going to stretch like a MoFo (and they did). :jawdropper:

This is the harvest from them.

Is it normal for the first set of round leaves to curl like that?

You may be over-watering them. See you water every third day. I planted my seeds in soil 5 days ago. Don't plan to water again until 7-14 days have passed - Depending on a lot of factors with my grow-room and setup :) Let the soil dry out between each watering. As you can see - the leaves on my 5 days old plant are not bending like that

*EDIT: Sorry - I see now you sorted everything out regarding watering :) I commented before reading the whole tread

The ladies are doing pretty good. Yesterday they got a feeding in the morning and they seem to have enjoyed the nutes. Following week 3 of fox farms feeding. Using the trio at the top but not full strength. This will put me on schedule to go 12/12 at the end of the year providing the ladies keep filling out. I think they will be perfect at the end of the year. Maybe even the small one who has shown a little promise the last few days.
I just got done with some more training and there finally spreading out the way I was hoping. Now they just need to fill in a little more.

Think of the physics behind light - if you let them go like trees then the tops will be way closer to the lamp

Light decreases strength exponentially the further you get from the source

It's called the inverse square law

Training your plants to spread out wide will allow you to bring the lamp closer to the main plant body and therefore higher strength light will reach the maximum amount of the plants vegetation
