What's In Jim's Grow Room?

Shiggity has a plant he featured today that has veriagation similar to your Jack Herer. He claims it doesn't slow down his strain at all. Maybe that'll play out with your young one. She sure is a pretty thing with all those spots. :battingeyelashes:

I must admit, out of the entire brood of beauties that PV makes my heart skip a beat and go "Ooooo...." every time. :green_heart:

PV in person is actually very majestic.

Now let me tell you about my day because I don't have anywhere to bitch but here.

In June I got an estimate from a well-known local body shop to replace the top on my Audi TT. It was slightly over $500. All I had to do was buy the top. Audi top is over $2,000 so I got a new Sierra top from AutoTopsDirect for a little over $600.

Called the body shop when it came in back in July. Guy said he could schedule it for week of Aug 21. He said he try his best to have it done in a week. Estimate said 10.5 hours.

So I took it to him Monday.

So today (Friday) around noon dude calls and said he and his man most familiar with tops looked at it last night and determined the new top wasn't quite like the original and that he couldn't assure me that he could do the job. He couldn't recommend anyone.

Argh!!!!! I didn't want to take on the work but I guess I'll have to do it now. Anyway I went to pick it up this afternoon and I spoke to one of the other guys in there and he advised that they have not done many convertible tops.

I contacted AutoTopsDirect and guy sent me some pretty good instructions with pictures to guide through this ordeal. I've already done one of the worst parts but I had to re-invent a torx bit to work in a tight spot.

OK...I'm over being upset much. I really try not to dwell on things like this but it just costs me time

Good luck with that mate :passitleft: ive got nothing to offer. Maybe a bad temper if you need to smash something later

It was feeding day today for all the soil girls. I used that opportunity to attempt to photograph them before the pots got heavier. I was pretty high this morning so I had a bunch of shots to cull. Such is life.

I'm going to research this leaf twisting issue. It might not have been the fan blowing on it.

What a pleasure this one has been to grow. A little topping and trimming and she does the rest.

These next two are in a competition of sorts - soil vs hempy. Either way it ends the plants at this age are really beautiful. Both have quite a bit of leaf shine. I haven't even started the foliar feeding so I don't know why they're so shiny.

Now I'm getting ready to feed myself. I started this day at 5:30 am and it's now 11:30. To make this up to myself, it's going to be a french toast lunch.

:bongrip:

That JH is a funky looking character lol, and the rest of them are looking great, they have put some height on and filled out beautifully

I'm getting a little excited about her. Some discussion over at ShiggityFlip's recently about variegated leaves and potency.

lol i cant begin to recall all the times Ive had to use a 1/4" wrench to work a torx bit in an absolutely STUPID location

I had to tie fishing line to a torx bit yesterday doing exactly what you described. Saved my ass twice.

The installation instructions have 52 steps. I've completed only 12 but I gaining on it. I need to seek out some 4 mm pop rivets and small washers along with some good adhesive.

It's Tea Time

Actively Aerated Compost Tea is made with water, compost, a little molasses and air. I have the compost tumbler out back that I've used only once for tea. I'm not sure my tea was very good as I'm aware that my first batch wasn't quite made properly.

I found a DIY brewer the other day and I went ahead and purchased the main piece - a commercial grade air pump. The Bookseller said if I ordered within 1 hour and 6 minutes and selected 2 day delivery that they'd have it to me with Sunday delivery. Sure enough....got it early this morning.

Now I have to go to Lowe's and search for some plumbing parts. LOL

Haaha Great minds...I got mine Thursday :) As well as an 8" air stone.

Everything is looking so very nice my friend.

I try not to give up on the odd ones. I have been rewarded too many times to ignore.
I had a Girl Scout Cookies auto in my journal that had some odd leaves. She stayed a runt forever.
She ended up growing out of it for the most part and produced some killer smoke.
Not a huge amount, but a couple jars worth. I smoked every last bit of that stuff. Lol

Cheers.

Yep....I like killer smoke. I decided this morning that this week she'll get a slightly larger pot. Everything else will be flowered in what they're wearing now. I have these Fiskars' pots that I think will work well. I might as well do this today.

Compost Tea Brewer

I went to Lowe's yesterday and picked up all the little PVC parts I needed to build out the compost tea brewer. The compost is inside a little cloth sack I re-purposed. Originally it held two pillow cases and I have no clue what the thread count is but I've tested it once before trying to make Actively Aerated Compost Tea (AACT). Inside the sack is about 2 pounds of compost. I added 5 TBS of Grandma's molasses as food for the bacteria and fungi that are released. In 24 to 48 hours we'll soon know if this is the real deal or not.

I used this video as my guide. It contains the parts list so I won't have to duplicate this process.

Please pray or send comforting thoughts to all those affected by hurricane Harvey. I've lived through many tropical storms and hurricanes over the years with several bringing flood waters. Never have I heard of one dropping 25 inches of rain in a couple days with at least that much more rain expected. Lives will be ruined for many years and recovery takes much longer than what you might hear.

I'll be sure to keep them in my prayers Jim.

First car was a drop top, glass window 73 Mustang. I bought a top off Whitneys, and installed - and it was a tough job at best. Fingers crossed for you. Love the brewer, I may do more of that. The twisting is due to pH being between 6.8-7.2 I betcha. If you measure the last bit of runoff after watering, I suspect you'll find it's in that range. You amend with lime?

Plants look great. I get some twist on my upper fans at times in early flower, especially if I drench with Ca... not a worry really. :thumb:

I'm thinking seriously about flipping these on or about Labor Day. That's next Monday, Sept. 4. Yep...'sounds like a good day for a flip to a new lighting schedule. I've read some comments about flipping hempies a little earlier than soil but 2 of my hempies are in very small containers (0.7 liter) so I'm going to be interested in this limiting factor. It's all new to me.

Everything else will be ready to go except maybe the Jack Herer. It really needs more time as I'll transplant it to new digs tomorrow. It's nicely growing with those slightly variegated leaves. When I up can I'll also drench that new soil with that compost tea. I'm getting excited about that. I expect to use about 1 to 2 gallons on JH and all the other big girls. The rest will go on my lawn where I really expect to see the improvement. I wish there was some way to look at the bacteria, fungi and such under a microscope.

I took pictures of the brew at 12 and 24 hours. Based on what I've seen on the interwebs mine looks fairly normal. I understand most of the science but I want to see it in action.

That's it folks. Have a great day. Still working on the convertible top. I think I'm on step 15 of a 52 step project. I had to order some 4 mm pop rivets as I couldn't find them locally.

Everything is looking great. That Pakistani is so kush tent pole. I love it. I think she will be magnificent.

Also interested to see what the JH does. Sometimes mutants are crappy mutants and sometimes they end up really special. Let's hope we get to see the second case!

Love the compost tea brewer, gonna take a look at the build video.

I love DIY, just posted my water cooled Co2 generator.

Agree every bit on the Pakistani. She's a glorious thing right now and I'll put my best effort in to bring her home without crispies.

I saw that CO2 generator. That should give your girls a little boost. :goodjob:

Tea Time for all the soil girls

The AACT was ready this morning so it got spread around all the soil girls, my lawn and outdoor plants. Now if I can detect any improvement it will become something I might do more frequently. OTOH, all that noise that the percolator made will force me to move that process out to my shed. The smell was good and earthy and I understand that's what you're looking for. Ugly smell is bad.

The plant from the bean sold as a Jack Herer was up canned to a new home which I believe is 1.75 a gallon pot.

Although this grow has been very interesting I've now come to the realization that I'm going to have a shed load of Blue Dream buds. OK so I love Blue Dream. I now have two tents going with clones of BD and Pakistan Valley. It's time to do something else me thinks. I think I'd like to run some new seeds but I'll wait.

I'm still working on the convertible top. I'm sort of stuck on one of the steps. I'm sure I'll figure it out. In the meantime....some pictures.
