What's In Jim's Grow Room?

I thought I'd do a comparison of the Blue Dream S1 plant and the original Blue Dream from seed that started this whole reversal breeding project.

The S1 plant compares very favorably with slightly less lime coloring of the original. Leaves appear to be slightly wider than the original. Of course the end product will be the "money ball".

Finally...I stitched them together for side by side viewing.

Huh! Never thought to try kelp with the plugs. Good idea Jim. :hugs: Damn, you grow some pretty plants. The juveniles are absolutely stunning. You get such tight nodes. So many of my recent brood decided to try for wider node spacing. Lol! May I ask, what distance from the light do you maintain for seedlings and young vegging plants?

I think to light is about 20 inches above the highest canopy. It is exactly 25 inches above the BD.

Yeah....I thought the kelp would be a good idea until the roots reach the reservoir. You know I've never grown hempies and I just don't trust the Osmo+ yet. I'm not a big proponent of yield for yield's sake but I know the flowers will be better with a plant that has available nutes when needed. :thanks:

I'm so glad that my garden doesn't keep me so busy that I can't enjoy them. Every morning I deprive them of 20 to 30 minutes of light as I turn off the LED and view them under more natural florescent. There are times when I do look at them closely during the day under LED as I believe that some deficiencies will reveal themselves first under those spectrum.

But in the morning I enjoy them during my wake n bake bowl of whatever is handy. That choice this morning was Chemdawg. Always and excellent choice. I've been mesmerized by the girls today.

This week I've filled three 7 1/2 gallon softies with the soil I started early this year and has been cooking in a 55 gal drum in the back yard. Pakistan Valley, Blue Dream S1 and Jack Herer will get all that mix probably beginning next week. I have about 10 gallons of recycled mix that I'll amend with the nutrient pack from KIS Organics sometime this weekend.

I'm now going out for some wind therapy. Riding with me will be a big fatty of Pineapple Express. Have a great day folks.

Thank you Ditcher and all the others for the comments.

I took pictures again this morning so I might as well share them. Girls in veg stage aren't as exciting as some old stinky buds but it's all I got right now.

This cut came from the BD mom. She went into a rapid rooter 9 days ago and had 4 little roots from the very bottom of the plug. The second cut had no roots. Back into the vegetable bag she went after a few drops of water.

I might keep this one as the parental BD clone and flower Big mama out this run. A little more trimming on mama and I might get some of that underbrush to grow and develop. All the rest of the cuttings just need to go in the bin. As soon as the clone gets some vertical growth I'll trim all the bottom leaves and branches.

I'm getting clone heavy here but I still want a PV keeper just in case I fall in love with her.

The third BD S1 seedling. She'll stay in the one gallon pot for flowering.

DSC_082713.JPG

Jack Herer She has a slight mutation of the second set of true leaves and also some light blotches that continue to the third set of leaves. I think this is a genetic trait and just hope she grows out of it with my highly mineralized soil mix. I do have some cold air from the air conditioner ducted into this tent with a Tee in the left corner and continuing to the 3 x 3 tent. I adjusted that Tee so cold air isn't blowing directly on any pot. A cold pot could have caused this. You can see this Tee rearranged in Team pic lower left.

This morning I've been smoking my Jack Herer harvested over a year ago. She's the reason I grow.

Pakistan Valley in the foreground. I took her two tallest branches yesterday because I think I'm going to want to keep her a while.

I beg to differ Magical One. I find the veg stage completely enthralling. Nothing gets me as excited as the linear tangle of a mess of beautiful cannabis leaves. :dreamy: That's one of the many reasons I visit here so frequently. :kisstwo:

Well...keep coming back. They'll be like this for a while.

So the girls continue to make progress. The big experiment here are the hempies of perlite and Osmocote Plus. Until the roots reach the reservoir and the Osmo + begins to dissolve I feel they need a little help. I made a visit last week to the local nursery and picked up a bottle of Foxfarm's Grow Big hydro version as I'm certain that I didn't get nearly enough Osmo + in the solo cups hempies. They have been watered every 2-3 days with a little kelp mixture every morning and afternoon. I'll come up with a feed mixture for them using Grow Big, Kelp and humic acid.

Jack Herer Day 12

Since birth she's had this leaf issue expressing itself with a little deformity and mottled color. If she was a regular seed it likely would be sitting in the cull group. I've only been growing 2 years so I've not experienced this before but I'll let her grow because I love me some Jack.

Blue Dream Girls

Most of this grow is the Blue Dream strain so I'll lump them all together here. Some are clones and 3 are grown from the S1 seeds I made earlier this year. So far the seeds appear to be normal homogeneous females which pleases me immensely.

Pakistan Valley Day 43

DSC_085816.JPG

Have a great day folks. Mine got off to a Jack Herer start.

Planning a long veg time Jim? I got jack Herer hanging. Be a couple more days before I can tuck in.

High Mr A. Veg time will up to the plants. I'll flip them when I feel that the timing is right. This week I hope to transplant the PV, BD mom and the BD seed plant. I had thought that the Jack Herer would have kicked into gear but she's decided to be different.

What I think might happen is that those three and the hempies will all get flipped in about 3 weeks. It's my understanding that the hempies have a shorter veg time because of the growth in flower. That part is new to me and I'll have to just watch them.

I have the luxury of having the second tent now for overflow but I need to repair the LED for optimum performance.

I sure hope you enjoy the Jack Herer as much as I do.

G'day Jim... :passitleft:

Ok...I'll try to bring everyone up to date on things. The dermatology clinic called last week to let me know that the pathology report of the flesh removed during my first visit confirmed that the spot is Squamous cell skin cancer and they would forward it to the surgeon for evaluation. The surgeon's office called yesterday and scheduled me for mohs micro-graphic surgery in early September. The only way I can get my pathology report is to drive over there and sign an authorization. I'll pick this up the day of surgery.

I've been treating the flesh wound from the tissue removal daily with my infused cannabis oil. The mohs surgery takes a thin surface section after each removal operation to run their in-house pathology. Wouldn't it be nice if I can cure this with THC in the next 30 days.

:cco:

My garden

The Blue Dream and Pakistan Valley seedlings along with the BD mom were transplanted to their new 7.5 gallon softies. These things are heavy without any water and it's a little difficult just pushing them around the tent. It took about 2.5 gallons of water just to get a little run off so I'll add more water tomorrow to make sure the soil is totally saturated particularly around the outer edges.

I'll have to build another soil mix from the recycled soil used during the last grow. I hadn't planned on this but it's just a bit more shovel work to make sure it's mixed well with the amendments added.

Hempies

With a whole bunch of help from others I determined that the first hempy I built was too rich in Osmocote plus.....about 8 times too rich! I dumped the whole mess out and rebuilt everything above the reservoir with new perlite leaving only the original Osmo + in the bottom inch or so. Roots had not developed much below the rock wool cube. Still learning and still unsure of this new hempy thing.

I know the two BD clones in solo cups had 3 or 4 inches of roots when they were planted and I find them to be dry all the time. I guess I'll have to water daily.

Hey Jim, when you load the hempy pot with Osmo + you distribute it throughout the perlite. I suppose it'd also work the way you did though :hmmm: since the perlite wicks up the water and that water would have osmo breaking down. Might be too much of a concentration, so watch carefully.

One of the nice things about hempy is how easy it is to reset. Float the roots free, dump it out and start again. :battingeyelashes:

By the time you post new pictures your transplanted girls will be huge. :laughtwo: They love growing for you. :hugs:

Do you have any CCO on hand? That'd work faster than the infused oil. It's entirely possible that CCO will eliminate the problem before surgery is necessary. THC kills cancer cells. It's basic cannabinoid science.

I still don't understand the interaction with the continuous feed Osmo + except that it's water activated. If the plant uptakes more nutrients than needed I hope to be able to see that in the leaves or leaf tips.

I don't have CCO on hand but my infused oil is chocked full of Blue Dream THC based on consumption testing. Should I try to dissolve some Panama rosin in 91% ISO? It wouldn't be necessary to purge.

Today's look in the tent.

The 7.5 gallon softies strained my back for a while after I transplanted the Pakistan Valley and the 2 Blue Dreams a couple of days ago. I've been treating this with a bowl of various and sundry herb as needed. There are 5 or 6 strains in the vault that haven't been tried this week. I need to get with it. I've heard the lavender of Crazy Miss Hyde is helpful for pain. Sugar Mango sounds interesting too but I started my day with Chem Dawg and right now I'm good.

Blue Dream from S1 seed. After her transplant and drench she has one leaf that's decided to twist a bit.

Pakistan Valley Just a wonderful plant to grow so far. If her cuts would just root I'd feel really good about trimming those two leaders. Monday is the next scheduled inspection of her cuts in rapid rooter and vegetable bags. I checked yesterday and leaves are beautiful on the cuts with no roots yet.

Blue Dream clone from Parent. My back felt good enough yesterday to move her around enough to trim her undersides. There were lots of skinny branches down there that would never amount to much in flower.

If it were me Jim I'd dissolve some rosin. It'd only take a drop of ISO to do what's needed. You simply need it pliable enough to apply to the skin. Then change it out every couple days.

I love the looks of the Jack too. Cute little leaves. :battingeyelashes: :green_heart:
