What's In Jim's Grow Room?

Hi Jim, glad to see you're a LOS grower with KIS. I haven't tried their Nute pack but am a noob on my 2nd run of the rev's v2.2 beginning the other day. Loving it and looking forward to it's 6th gen! Nice plants!
Well.....starting out I didn't intend to be growing organically but it does simplify things a bit. I don't set any great expectations as I pretty much committed to these 2 gallon softies and these old Mars Hydro lamps. If money ever comes my way I may think more seriously about some QBs but I seem to always have other financial requirements along the way.
I might have embellished that 6th generation of soil as I've only been growing in this since 2016 and I'm only on my second bag of the KIS Nutrient Pack. I feel like I've mixed a bunch of soil but it's probably more like 4 runs. Anyway, it's supposed to get better and I've not seen much calcium deficiencies. I only hope I don't fook it up somehow.

Makes me want to run Los even more.

PW....I think you would enjoy it. :slide:

Well....I had a late day appointment yesterday at the church to have my picture taken for the directory and I was really high so I forgot to water the blooming girls. Only the Black Cherry Punch girls were droopy dry but the whole tent full got the last of the Barley Malt tea very early this morning. They've all perked up now and looking good. Next week I'll surely have some damaged leaves down low on those which I'll have to clean up. They'll need a precautionary spraying too of something not very strong like the Insecticidal soup.

I'm pretty sure a friend is going to hook me up with a small amount of pollen to I can finally hook the Pakistan Valley for a brand new cross. This ought to be sweet. More details later.

Early flowers are either Black Cherry Punch or Pakistan Valley

Finally all the clones have hooked up with the soil. Sorry about the lighting over here.

That's it folks. Stay medicated. :bongrip:

Beautiful color on that plant, Jim!

Thanks beez

They weren't looking this nice when they went to the 12/12 light schedule. I don't remember giving them anything special except the Barley Malt tea. I've been using Barley Malt for the last 3 or 4 bloom runs and I'm sold on the benefits. Not only is it a great boost of enzymes which support plant health and color but I believe it to shorten flower days by 3 or 4. I also think that old Mars Hydro lamp really does provide a good spectrum for these particular plants.

I'm high...so take all that for what it's worth.

Flying high update. I searched for a jar of the (Fast n Vast x Master Kush) x Panama which I renamed Fx when I grew them out and harvested May 2018. I grabbed the jar of Fx 4 which was pheno 4. She cured well. Very stony yet active so it's pretty good daytime weed as long one doesn't mind feeling a bit wobbly. Two small bowls and 4 hours later I'm still good.

The blooming girls came out this morning for a bit of clean up and a photo op. They're looking fairly good for clones which didn't get any training or trimming for quite a long period while I have just been enjoying the fruits of my last harvest. I'm really not a better grower but genetic quality I've run lately has been impressive. That's why I'm repeating the Jellium and the Black Cherry Punch girls so that the jars will be filled if I choose to shut down next summer.

I had planned to reverse the Pakistan Valley but never got around to making the Silver Thiosulfate so I reached out to a bud for some pollen. The chicken hasn't hatched so more about that early next week. I do however, have a tracking number. :slide: I will say that she has lots of flowers at the perfect age to receive a bit of that yellow material and grow some seeds.

Here's a bunch of pictures. Enjoy...Stay medicated and have a great day. :bongrip:

Without a doubt the nicest group of plants I've seen you flowering since I've known you. Wonderful job :goodjob:

:thanks: for the kind words and for the BCP clone.

I think this is indeed the first time this year I wasn't dealing with the enemy. Of course these had a few spray sessions while they were in the veg tent but they've looked really good since going into the flower tent.

Also these are in the most recent soil mix and I think I actually found the right formula. I actually mixed this batch without making any notes of the amounts of various things so it's likely it will never be duplicated.

Like that chili I made back in 97' that everyone loved so much. I was high and just tossing in whatever I had that sort of went with chili. Darn good stuff and not repeatable at least not in the last 22 years.

Proof of Life

All the girls seem to be doing well. Nothing special is being given to them. 2 days ago I spread 1 gallon of a little Big Bloom and some kelp. I'll measure root moisture later today to see how much they're drinking.

Very late to your party, but better late than never, right? What soil are you growing in?

Is that Big Bloom the Fox Farm liquid nutrient? I think that's the only organic nutrient in their lineup.

Welcome aboard Sky....It's truly a mixture of a bunch of things but it started as Baccto Professional Growers mix amended with KIS Organics Nutrient Pack. If I needed just some packaged soil I would use Fox Farms Ocean Forest and then it all got mixed together and amended again. I've used one bag of the Nutrient Pack from 2016 thru last year and bought another earlier this year. So basically it's just peat, perlite and the nutrients from KIS. I think one could run a properly mixed as water only but I'm never trusted it to get me to the end. Although the product says 10% calcium I always supplement during the grow.

Yes Fox Farm Big Bloom. They have two OMRI listed now with the Kelp Me Kelp You. Both of my bottles are old without the listing but organic enough for me. The other product I use that is similar to Big Bloom is Budswel with is primarily seabird and bat poop.

That's more or less what I'm doing. 3ft of peat, 2ft of perlite and amended with my best effort to emulate DB's high brix soil. I make the amendment mostly out of Soil Mender's Minerals Plus, Calcium Phosphate, some Gypsum, Calcium Nitrate, Ammonium Sulfate and kelp meal. I tested to see how long I can go with water only before seeing problems and I saw them begin at around 3 weeks or less. Just enough to get started with plenty of extra calcium, but all of the other nutrients must be regularly re-supplied through the drenches.

I'm pretty darn satisfied so far with the last batch of soil I mixed up. I mix 15 gallons at a time which makes measuring everything out easier.

5 gallons Sphagnum Peat Moss or Pro Mix BX
5 gallons medium sized perlite
2.5 gallons Earth Worm Castings
2.5 gallons Coast of Maine Lobster Compost
6 cups Clackamas Coots minerals and nutrients
2 cups ground malted barley

When I flip the plants over to the flowering light schedule I scratch 1/3 cup of the Coots nutrients and minerals, and 1 cup of finely ground malted barley, and water that in with Kelp meal tea.

I have a Skunk plant currently growing in this mixture and she's looking really nice and healthy.

The pink plant right behind the Skunk is the Chem 91, and the dark purple almost black plant to the right is the Jellium.
