WestHippie’s 420 OG Hydro 1000 Watt MH/HPS

The only thing I've heard is that if you run it with RO or distilled water it may need cal-mag. I use tap water and am running only MC start to finish.

Both the Sweet Candy and Bud Explosion would put me way over the limit of K, so I would skip those. And you certainly don't need that much P in flower. The new MC formula does away with the need for those, but like I said, growers like to feel like they're changing things up in flower so they sell them!
I’ll skip the other two and keep the calmag , gotta take them out the cart ! I’m getting them from the amazon, free shipping !

I'd get the cheapest cal-mag you can. No reason is has to be their brand! Mine old cal-mag+ is Botanicare 2-0-0.
$20 for 2500g , l bought the Sensi cal mag xtra ! It actually moved the ph when added , as did all but bud candy no movement there !

I've used Epsom Salts for Mg in the past but didn't know about gypsum for Ca. I'd only heard the stinky and slow method of fermenting cooked eggshells in vinegar.

:thanks: SB!

Haha, I stopped at that base before getting to gypsum. My thing is that I prefer to mix a salt/powder 1 gram to 10ml of RO to make concentrates as doing it that way would enable me to easily retrieve a small dose in the 0.05 gram range by pulling in a half ml which is helpful. I made the eggshell/vinegar combo and aside from the crazy PH issues, I would've used it otherwise. The problem with gypsum (not pulverized drywall BTW) is that it is only soluble to 2.98 grams per liter. This is more than enough for a weekly reservoir, but I can't mix it into a concentrate or it will quickly precipitate into jug mud. I made peace with the need to weigh it out each week as I also keep my organics dry until weekly use, so I just toss the gypsum in with that.

1 gram per liter yields 220 ppm of calcium and 170ppm of sulfur
1 gram per gallon yields 58ppm of calcium and 45ppm of sulfur

I'm not going to lie, I really REALLY want to try pulverized drywall, but I did read somewhere that this gypsum hasn't been cleaned properly. I don't really buy that excuse but figured at about $3 a pound from CustomHydroNutrients, I figured playing it safe would be cheaper. But if I was way out in Weasel country, I would definitely be crushing some drywall.

Day 38 of 12/12
Stopped for lunch , checking 420 out . No check today , had to mama checked out ! Oncology said they didn’t find anything else , still cancer free :adore::peace::snowboating:

Day 39 of 12/12
Outside temp 84 humidity 58% SSE 15 mph
Building temp 80 humidity 60
Tent temp 79.3 humidity 55%
Canopy temp 81.7 lux 57-60k changing this did not slow anything down. I know I missed a day of not seeing them , them gals are pleasingly plump .
Water temp 70.8 down 2+ gallons Falling
TDS 776 don’t know what it was , did the nutrients change and the lights went out .
Ph 5.6
Had a problem with the ph , my blue lab got coated with URB . I got tired of trying to clean it off so I used alcohol and it’s wayyyyyy the hell off ! It was two weeks ago my hm ph 80 quit reading the ph , has been my backup for over 3 years ! Bought the apera ph20 , .6 was how far my blue lab probe was . More $ , new probe !
This time frame of 6.0-6.1 only fed magnesium minus the calcium! The rust ,InTheShed saw is calcium and heat . If the mg locked out the calcium because it was there so long (at least two weeks) ! Never again will I go without two ph pens ! ! ! !
We have two &1/2 weeks Left out of 8weeks !
Using the URB you can’t do a ph drop test for back up ! $48.69 for the probe at amazon!
As normal the ph rose never fell ! So hopefully the roots aren’t hurt , luckily like I said it never fell to get root damage ? ! Have pics at lights out

I added ph Perfect nutrients to these buckets , but it didn’t bring it down to the 5.5 or close to watch the rise . The techna flora nutrients go for 6.1 ph was why we were in between at 5.8 ?!?!
Pic missed one on the first pics

The good news warms my heart West.
Your garden is crazy good too. Is the new one using the new newts?
Thanks Stoneotter now she gets to go back every six months .
Did you see the comparison of all three grows lm amazed! The dwc has half techna flora and advanced nutrients for the ph control.
The megacrop wont be here till Wednesday gonna use it in the tent after the OG clones in the cloner . Still have some candy kush from Amsterdam for the MC.
