Welcome To Archie’s Indoor/Outdoor Perpetual Garden

Green Doctor is in a one gallon container still. The same container it vegged in :confused:.

I know that’s not a happy thing for you but, the fact you’ve kept it going in that tiny pot to finish so well is a testament to your gardening. Keeping the soil good in that size is no small achievement. It also gives me further hope regarding my desire to get some small pot grows with the kit myself. If I can grow some like that i’ll Be stoked.

if her Candida’s VPD was high transpiration shuts down and I suppose that could explain things. Coupled with maybe a higher DLI than it needed?
OK so i don’t think it was VPD related. I did get a temp gun during the time and there was little difference in leaf temp between the leaves that didn’t dropsy and the ones that did or the ones on the other plants growing under the same conditions tha never dropsied at all. So the phenomenon was only with the Candida I took a lot of readings at different times trying to work it out and it didn’t matter what the actual air temperature was or what the ambient RH was or how much moisture was in the soil - and it went away completely once i had the light diffusing cover over it. It was just intensity of sunlight.
higher intensity of sunlight just naturally means you’re gonna be hot and very dry.
Not necessarily so :hmmmm: We have warm humid days with super intensity... not to mention the tropics where the sun is super intense and things are very humid :)

except that in some climates,

Sorry I wasn’t more clear. AG, I wasn’t sure what your climate is, but I was also referring to Archie’s, which I know does trend towards high vpd.

Yes it gets quite dry here! Your suggestion for a greenhouse has not escaped my mind unlike...

@Amy Gardner you make a great point, the other plants didn’t exhibit the same behavior. That should have been obvious to me, the memory gets a little hazey at times haha.

I think we get attached because we raise them and watch there life cycle from birth to Death
its close to our own but only takes 1 season.

Born = Sprout
Baby = Seedling
Young Adult = Veg
Adult = Flower
Old Age = Harvest Window

I look at the plants like my kids friends some I like and some I don't care for too much, but in the end I will care for them as long as I need to and then cut their asses off when it's time!

Wanted to mention, you by far have one of the best screen names and the 'character' to match! All my plants are named Jane or Judy... and my dog is as happy as Astro!

Thanks, Oh YeahThe Jetsons another one of my favorites

"THE JETSONS WAS CANCELED BECAUSE OF “LACK OF COLOR.” In 1962, less than three percent of American homes had a color TV set, but The Jetsons was broadcast in color—ABC's first show to air that way. ... For those watching on a black-and-white TV, they missed out on the vibrant world Hanna-Barbera had created "

I hope I can get to 30 DLI in the 4 hours of sun my plants have been getting these days! Sun is out from about 2-6pm now, if it comes out at all :(.

That Green Doc looks really good covered in confectioner's sugar, so well done getting that out of a small pot! And yay on the purple Durban :yahoo: . Gotta love repeatability!
Yeah it’s been kinda cloudy for most of the mornings here but the temps have been stunning lately!

Thanks for the kind words about Green Doc, she has just been a pleasure. I started another Green Doc but I can tell already she is a different phenotype. I’m going to try the quad lining technique on her.

Man I hope you lot get some decent sunshine sometime soon!

ANd on DLI, could someone pls remind me here how I calculate DLI if what I have to start with is a Lux reading (from all white QBs)? I have it saved somewhere but right now the link/note eludes me. Is there a recommended resource on the net that gives what DLI values are ideal etc.? :Namaste:

Hey AG, it looks like the sunshine I do have may be tapering off a bit for a couple days here next week but things are looking pretty good.

I’ll wait until @FelipeBlu swings through and I bet he’d be happy to take a stab at your question:thumb:

Wednesday Update
These pics were , to be fair, taken yesterday but it’s the best I could snag at the moment. Life has just been a little challenging the last week or two.

I’m seeing some bites on leaves all the way through but I’m not sure what’s making it. Anyone got any ideas? I looked for caterpillars but haven’t seen any.

I topped Critical Haze yesterday as well.

In the flower tent, things are looking exciting.

Sorry AG! I only deal in PPFD.
And as far as recommended values for veg and flower, this information is not easy to come by. I have experienced very good veg growth with less than 20 DLI (actually around 15). For flower, I think you can get good buds with 25-30, better buds with 40-50, and maybe diminishing returns after 60, but these are a summary from a pretty casual data compilation.

Dunno about the bites but everything looks great! So much frost and flowering Durbans:).

I hope things settle down lifewise. :Namaste:

How many hours of X amount PPFD equals Y amount of DLI? Good question Shed. Damn good thing you looked it up...

[edit: Back on a computer! Here is a link that will calculate PPFD based on lux at various single color temperatures (blurple need not apply) including sunlight. And here is a link that will calculate the DLI based on PPFD and number of hours.]

Wow your DP look great, my DP fan leaves look more Indica, yours are definitely sativa, such a difference in genetics.

Thanks Shed. Everything is working itself out.

Hey CK thanks for stopping by! Yes she likes to throw larger leaves out at the bottom and then the fans get shorter and skinnier the further it goes up the branch. She’s a pleasure to trim.
I have a couple more beans of Durban and I’ll admit I’m curious what traits they would exhibit. Cheers

Hey Archi, hope “working itself out” means you’re getting a break from the stressors :ganjamon: Ooh those outdoor babies look good and I love the rasied bed setup. I looks tops all ready for whatever roof you decide to put on it (if you do need to)! Those bites look to be a little caterpillarish to me, too. I assume you’ve looked really well? Sometimes they can blend in - they can exactly the same colour and tone of the plant... maybe look again. Sometimes using a torch can help as something out of place can throw a shadow if light hits it right.

Hit? It’s Kush... I’m in evening mode :passitleft:

Your garden looks great, AW! Love that GC and your outdoor babies are looking fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about those bites - those are usually due to a fly-by from wasps or grasshoppers. They usually don't stick around. Caterpillars will chomp on the leaves from the edges and work their way inward, so those are not caterpillar bites that you see. Here's what caterpillar damage looks like:
