Welcome All My Friends To The Show That Never Ends - Canna M & Nismo12 Team Up!

Breeding Tent Update

Today marks day number 8 on the CS spraying on the dark devil auto. She has started showing stressing and her pistils are already going amber so pollen sacks will be showing up hopefully next weekend or soon after. We also added the CFLs and a little LED in there as we are adding a few more girls in there soon. Temps are running at 79 degrees and it is very manageable. Put in 2 - 2700k T5 bulbs so help the flowering side of things.

The Carnival clone. I topped her to keep her shorter.

Newest addition is the CKS Purple Kush. Didn't top her since we have never grown a plant without topping or any form of training.

That's all we have from the breeding tent today. Pretty soon it will be "Sac Watch 2016" and then the fun begins.

We will make it down to the veg room in a bit after we hit this :bong: again. I can't wait for one of our Sativa dominant strains finish so we can have some daytime meds. We shall make it around today. Stay classy friends. :passitleft::Namaste:
Your T5 is looking good, it's Huge. Lots of babies will fit under it.

So I was searching through your guy's journal trying to figure out how many of the fox farms nutes you guys use. I just recently ordered more of the trio nutes, but this time also got the all of the bushdoctor products to go along with them as well. Just wondering if you guys had experience with the bushdoctor products since I know you guys run FF.

We run everything they offer. If it is on the feeding schedule we use it. I do believe they call it the dirty dozen. Since we veg longer than the 4 weeks they say on the feeding schedule we alternate week 3 and week 4 without open sesame. We also throw in snow storm and calmag. We actually just went and fed them about an hour ago and it came out to 23 gallons of water and nutes for everyone...Needless to say we go through a lot of nutes lol

Ok sweet! But holy shit that is a lot of water... Damn... But anyways, I will do that forsure. I didn't end up getting flowers kiss, open sesame, bestie bloomz, or cha ching. But I have the other 9 so that's cool. I haven't been transitioning though between feeding week 3 and 4 since I'm veging longer. I've just been feeding 3 tsp BB and GB and then 1/2 tsp cal mag per gallon, and those are about the transition week doses I think if I remember correctly? Oh well I don't think I've been missing out on any extra growth and I think my plants like it. And since only probably 1 watering with nutes left before I start to add bloom nutes, I don't think I should change anything now lol

Veg only, you do not eat to see bloom mix. Kidding, it's not as bad as AN.

Ok Miller, Krip, Nis. Why when people do bud washes do they use an acid and an alkaline to clean them? Are they in seperate buckets? It makes no sense to me to use both in the same bucket. Don't they kind of cancel each other out?

Yes, lemon juice and baking soda in the same bucket, then two "freshwater" (RO/Distilled) rinses. They cancel each other out for PH (to some extent!) but not for cleaning the buds! :)

Here's Doc Buds' recipe:

Right away, I'm not sure about their marketing department statements but it comes highly recommended. I believe our Canadian dynamic duo use it too. For its price it should do well.

Cheers

Bud washing is not in my wheelhouse. But lemon juice has PH ~2, baking soda is buffer. I believe the thought is to pull off dirt and anything else with mild cleaner then rinse off anything that might add unwanted flavor. I hang whole plant to dry (state law, each plant part is a plant when drying) and it not feasible to dip plant intact. I'd consider it if I had bugs or mold on my plants to make usable product. Moreover, post wash I'd be concerned about mold forming on flowers.

Cheers

That's exactly correct. Especially with Doc Bud's method which includes lots of foliars with "poopy" things, and the such. Kinda' like sausage...if you knew what was in it, you may not want it! :) This also ties into the end of the (somewhat controversial? ;) ) article I posted on foliar feeding.

The reason to use RO or distilled water for the freshwater rinses is that it will have no bacteria and, hopefully, the rest "came out with the wash". As long as you have the buds spaced and maintain proper humidity, the guys that use his method (I don't yet, but if I was growing in soil, I would!) don't report any issues with botrytis.

Aren't arteekay and Jaybiz growing an Amnesia Haze? I think it's close to harvest too, like maybe in two days.

Edit: Yes they are growing one. They started flushing her today. They made growing this haze look easy. I hadn't heard that about hazes. I'd heard that everyone deserves a haze in their garden. :laughtwo:

She's planned for harvest next weekend. It's a bit earlier than breeder timelines, but they do give a range for her. I'd agree she's a bit more challenging than some of the other CKS auto strains, picky... but she'll still give us better than 6 ounces I'll bet.

Our next one will be thinned out more, defoliated less, and we'll respond quicker if she starts showing signs of toxicity and/or light bleaching.

We're doing single plant harvests on a perpetual auto grow and have started bud washing two or three harvests ago. With three (now two dammit) pets in the house the amount of floating hair is astronomical, and despite our efforts our flowers always have a few random hairs. We don't do any foliars though.

For hair and dust, we find it works reasonably well enough to continue, and hasn't affected our buds in any appreciably negative way. Really the water acts on buds a lot like it does off a duck's back. Next to none of it is actually absorbed, but it's also only able to work on loose material on the surface. A hair that lands when flowers are forming is locked into place once the calyx on either side swells up.

Not mentioned enough in discussions about bud washing is the temp. Too warm and we risk melting waxes, too cold and we risk making unscreened bubble hash in the bottom of our buckets.

Arteekay makes a good point. You want the water noticeably warm, and no more. Comfortable on your hand. And not much less either. I put a fan on my hung wet buds for about 4 hours or so, then remove when buds are dry of wash-water..

Good morning friends! The OG Kush, pineapple chunk, and fruit punch are approaching their harvest dates according to the breeders. The recommened 55-56 days. Looking at the trichomes I would guess a week or so left. There are little to no amber trichomes. All I can think of is to start the taste testing!
